I Tried Quitting Instagram and Here's What Happened Next

This is a YouTube video titled "I Tried Quitting Instagram and Here's What Happened Next" created in early 2025. The content is a personal and business-focused monologue where the creator shares their experience of quitting Instagram to focus on YouTube for marketing and sales. They discuss the inefficiency of Instagram for their business, the benefits of reallocating time to YouTube content creation and funnel optimization, and the resulting increase in revenue and engagement. The video is a detailed narrative aimed at business owners considering platform strategy for growth and sales.
I was tired of spending hours creating reels, doing posts, and creating stories every day. The worst part, all of these things expired within 24 hours or maybe 48 hours. And what was even more frustrating is the impressions or the views I would get on my story. So this is data pulled directly from my Instagram. I would spend hours creating stories, adding captions, making it good, so to speak. And I would only get like 30 views on these stories. And then I would just post some something random that the kids and I were doing, like playing a board game and get hundreds, like 300 views or just saying, oh, hey, I'm gonna start showing up on Instagram. And this one got over 460 views. And I don't think this is just what I'm experience. I saw a friend of mine, Kathy from Funnel Gorgeous, mention the same thing recently as well on her story. She shared a journey. She went on to post two reels every single week. She did it for over 16 weeks over over 30 reels posted, and literally move the needle nowhere on her Instagram. Even with all of that, I still felt, fomo, I need to be on Instagram. Right? But the real kicker came when I looked at literal data from my Google Analytics. Seriously, this is the data from my Google Analytics back from when I did a summit in a launch in August, September of 2024. And this is showing you the traffic that I got to the signup page. Now, I was showing up on Instagram stories at least five times a week. I was creating four to five reels a week on Instagram. And that is the traffic I was getting from Instagram compared to YouTube where I created literally one video a week. So it became no question for me back in October when I decided to quit Instagram. And I talked about in this video here that YouTube sent me significantly more traffic in better converting traffic than Instagram. And that's when I decided back in October that I was done with Instagram. So did I abandon Instagram completely? No. Would I pop in on stories or repurpose some of my YouTube content or some of my emails I sent out into Instagram reels? Yeah, but I've not had any strategy or dedicated time to focus on growing my Instagram. So what's happened the last three months without committing to Instagram? Well, a spoiler alert here. I'm making daily sales in my business. I mean, these are the stats right here. And I honestly started making more money when I quit focusing so hard and stressing so much on Instagram than when I was being strategic. On Instagram. And I'm all about the proof here. Let me show you the screenshots, the receipts. I made a third of my entire revenue in 2024 between October 1 and December 20. That's when I'm filming this video while not on Instagram at all. So you can see the first nine months of the year, I made around $290,000. And then the last three months, less than three months, year, I made over $100,000. And I know this isn't something special to just me. One of my coaching clients, Emily, had said recently she had a video on her YouTube channel go up following the strategy I teach in the YouTube coaching experience. And that video wasn't even up for two hours. And she got somebody to sign up to her paid membership. And even better, this person was a dream client to work with. She said to me after this happened that she's never seen that quick of a turnaround on Instagram. She said she feels like with Instagram, people need to be following you for a while, weeks, months, seeing your content all the time to build that trust. But with YouTube, she literally needed one video to make that conversion. Let me dive into this just a little bit more. Taking Instagram off my plate meant I had time to focus on YouTube even more. So what a lot of people start to think is if I'm going to do YouTube, oh my gosh, I'm adding more to my plate. I don't have time as it is. But if you start to look at it like I'm going to take Instagram off my plate for a little bit, we're going to test something out and put that time that I would put into Instagram into YouTube. That's where you can really start seeing time, saving more time back in your day, better conversions. So I took the time that I was spending on my Instagram on content that wasn't getting impressions, content that wasn't getting views, and content that wasn't making sales. And I spent that time on two things to start making daily sales. The first thing is I took my YouTube posting schedule up to two, two videos a week. Now I'm going to be doing a more deep dive video on posting schedule and what the best YouTube schedule looks like for business owners and how business owners, if you're wanting to start using YouTube to make sales, need to be doing to get the best results on YouTube. So make sure you're subscribed or watch it here if it's already live. But for this video, I want to walk you through My reallocation of time that Instagram was sucking up and what I did with that time, I will say not only did not needing to post or think about posting or editing this freaking reel save me time, but I wasn't entice as much to get onto Instagram, which we all know the Scroll Doom is a real thing. So I was saving more time there because I wasn't tempted to get on Instagram since I wasn't posting content that caused me to waste more time on Instagram as well. Now I told you I went into two videos a week on YouTube. I knew I could not jump right into two videos a week on YouTube. Let me remind you, I officially quit Instagram on October 1st and started this new schedule then. And I knew I didn't have the time to get pre recorded videos up to start posting two days a week that first week in October. So the first thing I did to start doubling my videos on YouTube was going live once a week. I knew this was going to be a band aid of some sort until I could get ahead of schedule and start having my pre recorded videos come out twice a week. But I didn't realize how great those live videos would actually be for my business. Those live videos got me over 24,000 impressions in just under a three month time period and over a thousand views. So it did start to get more people aware of my content, but it didn't gave me any new subscribers. So the live videos didn't actually grow my channel so to speak. But it helped me get to November where I could get my prerecorded videos out twice a week. So that's the first thing I did with some of the time that I had saved from Instagram was focusing on upping my posting schedule. But where I spent the extra time that I had because I wasn't on Instagram, that made the biggest difference was optimizing the funnels I had and lead follow up. So instead of creating Instagram content and hoping someone would DM me to start a conversation with me to get them into my YouTube coaching experience, I began asking people for their Instagram handle and also their YouTube channel when they bought a low ticket product for me, like my video game plan, my prep system, Evergreen and Evermore and editing for conversions is out there as well. Then I took the time that I would spend posting stories on Instagram and personally reaching out to those people who bought my products, my low ticket products. I took their Instagram handle and personally voice message them to open up a conversation to ask, ask how's the product? What are you learning? Is there anything that I can help you with? And if they sent me their YouTube channel in that form as well, I did a free quick review of what I thought they could do better on their channel to see more growth. And so over the course of just two months doing this instead of Instagram, this process brought me in over $10,000 in revenue because these people that were buying my $27 products were being personally reached out and helped and provided feedback from me. And they knew it was me and not a bot because I did voice memoing with them. I can't tell you how many people thanked me and were surprised that it was me on the other end. But that's what gave it that personal touch that got people who bought a $27 product up into my $2,000 coaching program. And so how were people hearing about these $27 offers in every single YouTube video that I created and also in the description box of every single video as well. You see, stop doing Instagram. You don't realize how much extra time you're going to have on your plate and you aren't thinking about the time suck that is going into trying to play the Instagram game. So if you just kind of adjust your mindset to thinking, if I quit Instagram, I have extra time to get more strategic with evergreen videos and optimizing funnels that can that could convert higher. And so when it comes down to YouTube isn't actually more work, it becomes a timesaver. All the products that I mentioned, I will list on in my description box below if you're interested in checking them out and potentially getting a personal voice message from me. But if you do believe that Instagram is really holding you back and you're frustrated as well, and this video is kind of telling you, yeah, I'm going to spend more time on YouTube in 2025. Make sure you check out this next video where I'm going to break down exactly what you need to do. Whether you're just starting on YouTube as a business owner, you have a channel and it's not growing, or you have a channel and you want to make more sales. That's why I'm diving into the next video.
