Should you monetize your YouTube videos? How are people making so much money on YouTube videos? Can I get a piece of that pie? In today's video, I'm going to show you how you can make money on YouTube and the 411 on YouTube monetization. Hey guys, my name is Trena. Welcome back to another episode of Just the Tips. If you are new here and you want to learn how you can use YouTube and video in your business strategy, make sure you click that red subscribe button down below so you don't miss out. Quick question for you. Are you currently monetizing your videos? Do you even know if you're monetizing your videos? Is this the first time you're hearing the word monetization? Let me know where you're at down in the comments section below. Let's discuss about monetization and where you are at. So first off, YouTube recently changed its monetization policy. So they changed it because there was a whole ad apocalypse earlier in 2017 where ad companies were pulling out and not spending money on YouTube anymore. So they had to do something to change it because companies were worried about having their commercials featured with negative content. So the way YouTube fixed this problem was they decided that you had to have at least 10,000 views on your channel to make your channel look legit so that you weren't some random channel sharing negative content. If you had 10,000 views, they felt you were legit. And now you were able to monetize your channel. So what does this mean for you and your channel? Well, if you don't have 10,000 views yet, turn off monetization because you're not making any money. So turn it off now. You want your viewer to get to your content as quick as possible. If you're putting an ad on it advertising something totally different to you, it's not going to help you out. So if you're under 10,000 views, turn off monetization so people can instantly get to your content. You still want to enable it and make it possible to monetize. Because by enabling monetization, you're able to upload custom thumbnails, which is what you want to do. You enable it, but you don't turn it on for your videos. So, so once you get 10,000 views, then what should you do? So here's my personal stan on monetization. I've turned it off on all of my videos. Why? Because I am selling my products and services. By providing this free content, I want my viewer to watch what I have to Say build my authority, show them that I know what I'm talking about so that they want to work with me or they want to buy from me. That's how I'm making my money on YouTube. I am never going to make money through ads on YouTube as a small channel. People who are making real Money here on YouTube have hundreds of thousands of subscribers or have hundreds of thousands of views on each video. So I'm not planning to make any life changing money here on YouTube with AdSense. My money is in my business. I'm not trying to appeal to the masses. I'm creating a channel for my specific audience, the audience I want to serve. So I'm not going to have hundreds of thousands of subscribers probably here on my channel because it's a very niche channel and it's very dear to my heart. So I've decided to turn off monetization and just give you guys my content without watching ads. Another way that I'm making money through my videos is I have a private community on Patreon. In that community I'm able to provide more in depth training and more group coaching with the people who are willing to pay more to work with me. So they are able to contribute a couple dollars every month to help me continue making content for you. So I provide them extra rewards for providing me that money. If you want to learn more about my Patreon rewards and how you can sign up to be a member, I'll put the link down in the description box and also right here you can click to go check out. So what should you do with monetization? Well, if you're under 10,000 subscribers, turn it off, enable it, but turn it off on your videos. Once you hit the 10,000 viewer mile mark, it's up to you. What's important to you? Do you want people to watch your videos and get on your email list? Do you want to provide your content for free or do you want to make some money on AdSense? That's going to be your personal preference and your choice. I just wanted to share with you my stance so that you understood where I was coming from and you could make an educated decision on your own.
