Post Your YouTube Videos To Instagram For More Views

Trena Little explains how to repurpose YouTube videos for Instagram to drive more YouTube views. She gives a technical how-to for transferring videos to a phone (AirDrop for Apple devices; Google Drive for non-Apple), preparing short clips (15s for stories, 60s for feed) or uploading to IGTV, and using apps like Cut Story and Unfold. She then lays out five promotion strategies: use story polls and DM links, create feed posts with CTAs and DM links, share screenshots of viewer comments, encourage viewers to share the video on Instagram in exchange for shout-outs, and post IGTV teaser episodes with links in the IGTV description. Also notes the workaround for link limitations (putting the video link in bio until you reach 10,000 followers).
If you want to start using Instagram to promote your YouTube videos to hopefully get some more views on your video, I'm going to be sharing with you the easiest way to get your YouTube video on Instagram without using any fancy apps. Plus, my five strategies to getting more Instagram followers to watch my YouTube videos. Go ahead and hit that like button if you're ready to hear my five secret strategies. Hey, welcome back. If you are new here, my name is Trena and this channel is all about giving you the confidence to to show up on YouTube. And one way to have more confidence on YouTube is to make sure you're getting views on your videos. Right? And that's exactly what I'm gonna be sharing with you today, how to use your Instagram followers to watch your videos. But before we jump in, make sure you hit that subscribe button right now if you want to continue to build your confidence in growing a YouTube channel. So one of the quickest way to get your YouTube video from your computer onto your phone is if you have a Mac and an Apple phone. You can just do airdrop, drop that video over to your phone and save it down to your came roll. Now, if you do not have a Mac or an iPhone, don't worry. I've got another option for you. You first need to make sure that you have Google Drive. Trust me, this is going to be the best app to use. I've tried other ones out there. Some of them seem spammy, some of them don't always work. Some of them are just suspicious. But Google Drive is a great app. It's completely secure for you to use on your phone and on your computer. So you're going to make sure that video is uploaded to Google Drive from your computer. Make sure you know that name of the file. Then you're going to go into your Google Drive app on your phone. You're going to find that video. Go ahead and click that little download arrow. Then you'll go back to your Google Drive app, kind of like that homepage. And then you want to go to the local section. Next you want to go to the download folder that you see. Go ahead and click those three little dots and click copy to. Now you can copy it to your camera roll. Now that you have it on your phone, you can either start chopping it up into 15 second clips use on Instagram stories, or a 60 second clip to use on your Instagram feed. Or you could upload the whole thing to Instagram tv. Now if somebody watches your video on Instagram tv, you're not going to get the views. Your best bet here is to use teaser clips or to just show small portions of the video to get people excited from Instagram to go over to YouTube and watch. So you can start editing your video and actually the camera roll and start making little 15 second clips. Or you could use the app Cut Story, which will actually break up the entire video into 15, 15 seconds, which may take a while and might overkill it. But once you have these 15 second clips, you can basically just upload them to Instagram and decorate them. Or you could really go above and beyond and use an app like Unfold, where you can add stickers, you can add text, and export it directly from Unfold to Instagram. Now, I know this process can get a little bit lengthy, but the key here is to create a template one time around, and then you'll just use that template over and over. So you'll just put new videos in that template every time you post a new YouTube video. This is really going to make your stories stand out in Instagram stories, because you're not going to be using the same text, you're not going to be using the same formats, the same gifs, the same stickers. You really got to make your Instagram stories look different. But here's an important step. If you do not have the Swipe up feature, which you don't have 10,000 Instagram followers, you're going to need to put on that story or tell people that they need to click the link in your bio to watch your video. Then you'll need to add the link to your most recent video in that bio every time you promote a new video. This is the only way to get around it. Right now, this is the only place that Instagram allows us to put a link. And until you have 10,000 followers, you're not going to get that Swipe up feature. So somewhere in your story, let people know that the link to watch this video is in your bio or to go search YouTube and search for your video for a specific phrase. Now, just like I promised, let's talk about some of the strategies I use to get my Instagram followers over to my YouTube videos. To actually watch them over on YouTube, I would love to know if you actually follow me on Instagram. So comment below, follower. If you do follow me on Instagram and jump into these five strategies, the first thing that you can do is use polls. So when your video goes live, can you tease it and say, do you want to see this video? And for everybody that Clicks. Yes. On the poll, you can actually DM them the direct link to your YouTube video. You can say something like, hey, I saw you wanted to see my video. Here's the link to it. I hope you enjoy it. And you could also get them to respond back to you with a question like, what was your biggest takeaway? Or did you have any questions about that video? The more engagement you're getting with somebody on Instagram, the more likely Instagram is going to show your content to that person that's actually engaging in your content. The next thing you can do is create a post for the feed and in that post share some major takeaways or like a huge value bomb that you drop in that video. And then in the caption, you can also have a call to action that says, if you want to see this video, comment below. DM me the link and I will go ahead and send you over the link that's going to get again, people engaging with you. You're going to DM them the link that's going to get them to your YouTube video and that's going to get Instagram to put your content Instagram in front of that person more because you two are engaging. The third strategy that I have to get more Instagram followers to my YouTube videos is to share comments I'm getting on the video on Instagram that gets people wondering, what is she talking about? I wonder what she shared. If you can get people to comment on your video, some of their main takeaways or what was their favorite part of the video, and then you can just screen capture it and share it on Instagram. It's definitely going to intrigue people to want to go over and watch that video. That's another secret way to get more of your Instagram followers to watch that YouTube video. Just make sure you have that link to that YouTube video in your bio and you tell them where they can find that link or ask them if they want to see it to DM you that you want the link. The Fourth Way is actually here on YouTube. So what you can do is try to get people to share your content from YouTube over on Instagram so you can do something that I'm about to do. Take a screenshot with me right now and share this video on your Instagram. Ready? Now if you tag me on Instagram stories, I'm going to share your story on my Instagram stories and shout you out. And thank you for being such an amazing part of this community. Everybody loves a shout out. So if you can promise A shout out on your YouTube video. If they share on Instagram, that's going to get your content out to their audience and then you're thanking them by shouting them out to your audience. You see how that starts to work. The fifth strategy that I have is to create an Instagram TV episode that teases your video. So I do this with all of my YouTube videos and I post it the day after it goes live to get traction back over to my YouTube channel. So what happens is I will open my Instagram story. All I do is when I'm shooting my content for YouTube, like right now, I will pull up my phone like this, and I will just share why this video is important, why they should go watch, and a key piece, like just a tiny key piece on what's so important to watch over there. Then I will tell them to click the link to watch the full video in the description, because Instagram TV allows you to have a link in the description and that's going to send people over to watch the entire video on YouTube. What I also love about Instagram TV is the first 60 seconds of your Instagram TV episode goes up on the feed. So if you have captions in there, the people on your feed are going to see it as well. And you can also share it on your stories, and it just gives them a little taste of what that video is about to make them want to go over and click and watch that full video. Now, if you are still struggling with hitting that first 1,000 subscriber mark, I want to make sure you watch the video that's on your screen right now, because I'm going to walk you through strategic steps that you can take to get to that 1000 subscriber and 4000 hours of watch time a lot quicker. So click that video, it's on your screen right now, and I will see you in that next video.
