Okay, so you posted a video and the only person that watched was your mom and your dog. So what can you do if you're posting videos and nobody's watching them? In today's video, I'm going to give you five ways you can start getting more people watching your videos. Hey, guys. Welcome back to another episode of Just the Tips. My name is Trena, and I help creative business owners like you get your business on YouTube. Like I said, in today's video, we're talking about how to get people to watch your videos. Now. Now I get it. When you first post your videos, you're not going to get a lot of views, and it's tough. It's really hard. You think I spent all this time on this video content and nobody watched it? I know for the first couple months when I created my YouTube channel, I was lucky if I got 20 people to watch my video. So I feel your pain. I want you to start to think about these five things I'm going to talk about and how you can start incorporating it into your YouTube strategy to make sure you're not stuck at 20 views. So the first thing is ask for feedback. I have a Facebook group video for Biz Crew where you can post your video and ask people honest feedback. This is going to help you grow and help you figure out what's in your video isn't resonating with people. Maybe it's your hook, maybe it's your thumbnail, maybe it's your title, but unless you get some outside objective opinions, you're not going to really know how to change that strategy. I know. I went to a YouTube conference a few weeks ago and I got constructive criticism. And it's hard to take. Right? You pour your heart into this stuff, but it's the only way you're going to get better and it's the only way you're going to get more views on your channel is if you ask people for that feedback. The second thing to do is take a look at your channel homepage. Is your channel banner reaching your target audience? Do you have a value proposition there so people know why they should subscribe to your channel and watch your videos? Also, do you have place playlists on your homepage that really describe what you're all about, that really highlight the content you're going to be creating? Because people don't want to subscribe to your channel if it's not going to be valuable to them or if it's not going to be something they want to learn. So take a look at Your channel. Is your channel homepage optimized for subscribers? I have an entire video on that if you want to check that out. There's a card linked above and I'll put it in the description box below. That walks you through customizing your homepage. The next thing you want to do is study your analytics. I did not do this enough starting out, and I really want to kick myself in the butt for not doing this. But going to your analytics, especially looking at your audience retention, you want to find out where people are dropping off. If they're dropping off in the first five seconds, you've got to fix something. You're not grabbing their attention, they're clicking on it. They're enticed by the thumbnail and the title, but. But then they see it and something is just not clicking with them and they're not watching. Go to your audience retention. It's really easy to do when you go into your creator studio. You click over to audience retention and you want to pick a single video. It's going to take a couple weeks for your newer videos to have that statistic, but check that out. Maybe you got their attention, but every time you say something, it drops off. You see this dip. So change whatever it is that you're saying in your future videos. If you don't look at that, you're never really going to know what's actually connecting with your audience and what's not. The fourth way to start getting more people to watch your video is a little secret I was told by Derral Eves, click that little heart button on comments. So if you get comments on your video, click that heart button. Because when you do that, that person gets an email that you hearted their comment. So they're going to be excited, right? And hopefully they're going to come back to your video. They're going to click on the link in that email and respond by saying like, thank you or it was so great you responded to me. And when they do that, your video starts playing. That's another view, right? So that's a cool little tip I got from Derral Eves. So try that out. If you get a comment, give them a heart. And the biggest advice I have for you on how to get more views is spending way more time on those titles and those thumbnails. I know I've talked a lot about this in this particular series, but honestly, titles and thumbnails will make or break your channel. You really got to figure out what kind of story you can tell in that thumbnail. That also complements that title that gets people to click. I mean, you can have the best content ever. You could have a Hollywood producer produce your video, but no one's going to see it. If you don't have enticing thumbnails and titles to to make people want to click, start spending a little more time on your title on your thumbnails. Like I said in a previous video, I've heard people say that creators spend twice as much time creating their thumbnails than they actually do their video content. Take a look at that on your channel. Do you need to spend more time there? The question of the day for you is what entices you to click on a thumbnail? Let's help each other down in the comment section. What what kind of thumbnails really get you to click? Is it clickbait? Does the thumbnail have text on it? Is it a thumbnail of a person? Is it a stock footage photo? Let me know what causes you to click on a video based on its thumbnail? Let me know down below. If you like these types of videos, make sure you hit subscribe. Give this video a thumbs up and make sure you come back next week because I'm going to be talking about what you can do to breathe life back into your channel. So if you've had your channel for a little bit and it just feels like it's not picking up any growth, subscribe. So you're notified when my video comes out next Tuesday. Thank you so much for watching and I will see you next week. Bye.
