When it comes to creating business goals, how many of you are overwhelmed or not even sure where to start? I know when I first started my business, I didn't know how to set business goals. What was a good business goal, what wasn't a good business goal, and how could I achieve these goals that I was setting? In today's video, I'm going to share with you my experience with setting business goals and the process that I use currently for setting my business goals. So make sure you stay tuned. Hey guys, my name is Trena. If you are new here and welcome to another episode of Just the Tips, welcome. And in today's video, we're going to talk about business goal setting. Do you set business goals? Let me know down in the comments section below. Do you set yearly goals? Weekly goals, quarterly goals? I would love to hear the different types of goals you're currently setting. So I want to go ahead and just start talking about the three levels of goals that I set for my business. So the first level of goals you want to think about setting are that baseline goals. You know, what do you need to achieve to stay in business? Is it an income level? Is it email subscribers? Is it a conversion rate? What is the baseline that you really need to meet to make sure that you're paying your bills? Right. Then the second type of goals is that pie in the sky goal. You know, that dream goal. Maybe it's getting a million views on YouTube or maybe it's getting 100,000 email subscribers. What's that huge goal you really wish that you could reach? Like, if you reach that, it would be the best day of your life. And then the third tier is basically in between. It's something you've never achieved before. It's a little bit above that baseline goal, but it's not up to that pie in the sky goal. But you know, if you really put your mind to it and you really push for it, you think you can achieve this goal. So those are the three different types of goals I want you to start thinking about when setting business goals. This really changed my mindset when I started creating business goals, because the problem that I had was setting goals and not achieving them. So. So what can happen if you start setting goals and you never really reach them or you take forever to get to them, is you can start to get discouraged, right? You think, I'm never going to get there. Why am I doing this? I'm not able to check that one goal off that, you know, you really wanted to check off. So by creating those smaller Goals that your baseline goals. It helps you see what you're doing, it helps you see progress, and it keeps you motivated to really keep moving on. One of the best things I did this year in 2017 for my business was buy this goal tracker by Laura Casey. It's her powersheets. And what's great about this is it actually makes you sit down at the beginning of the year and come up with your goals. It's basically a free flowing page to just brain dump and think about what are all the things you want to accomplish this year. Then it helps you to organize them. So for example, it walks you through an entire worksheet on coming up with your why. What is your why? Why do you want to achieve these goals? If you don't have a why behind your goals, you. You're not really likely to achieve them because you're not passionate, you're not in the game of accomplishing these goals. So being able to actually sit down and think about your why is definitely getting you a step closer to achieving your goals. And then these power sheets break it down by month. So every month think about little steps that you can take, little goals to get to your big goals. This is a lot of the time, the main thing that we forget about, we forget about those tiny little goals that we are accomplishing. To get to our bigger goals by seeing these smaller goals that we are completing helps us stay motivated. It's a further step up and a step up and a step up. Because most times you're not going to just reach that goal right off the bat. Right? You need to take steps to get there. And we need to be reminded that we are accomplishing something. There are these little goals that we are meeting that we don't even realize it. So within the power sheets, it breaks it down by month. Different goals you want to accomplish that month so you can see your progress and start motivated. So my three steps for achieving your business goals is to first write them down. If you just have them flowing through your head, you're never really holding yourself accountable to actually achieving these goals. That's why I bought the powersheets and I wrote my goals down. And I slowly am achieving the goals that I set for 2017. And it's really amazing to look back on at the beginning of the year to see how much I have accomplished, because that's holding me accountable to write everything down. The second tip that I have for you is to make those three tiers of goals. You don't just want to set those huge goals because if you don't get to that huge goal, you're just going to feel defeated and like a failure. You need to be able to check off goals as you reach them. So set those smaller goals that you know you can achieve that are going to help you get to that top tier goal or even that middle level goal. And then my third tip is to set some deadlines and measurability. So how many email subscribers do you want to get? How many YouTube views do you want to get? How much money do you want to make? Write that number down and do you have a deadline of the end of the year? Maybe it's by quarter. You need to make so much money each quarter to reach your goal. You need to have some kind of measurability so that you know you're going to reach that goal. It makes it more real and it again holds you accountable to achieving your goals. I would love to hear from you. What kind of goals are you setting for your business? Or where do you struggle when it comes to setting goals for your business?
