Sharing the 10 steps of how to set up your YouTube channel for your business. So if you're thinking about starting your YouTube channel for your business, you're going to want to stick around to hear these 10 steps. And if you stay until the end, I'm going to give you a little secret link formula that people can click on and instantly be prompted to subscribe to your channel. So, hi, my name is Trena. If you are new to my channel here and I teach mostly creative female entrepreneurs how to use YouTube video and their business strategy. So if you aren't subscribed to my channel yet, just make sure you go ahead and click that subscribe button down below. And you're going to want to make sure that you are subscribed to my channel because coming up in August, I'm going to be posting a new video every single day and I'm going to have three live trainings in the month of August to really help you get a JumpStart on your YouTube channel. So make sure you click the subscribe button and there's like a little bell icon. If you click on that icon, you're going to be notified every time I post a new video or go live. So if you're really serious about starting your YouTube channel, make sure you hit that bell icon so you get my content right away. So without further ado, we're going to go ahead and jump right on into this content. I'm going to go through step by step. If you want my checklist, the link to grab it is down in the description box. So just click on that and you can get the exact checklist that I'm going through right now. So I'm going to go ahead share my screen while I'm doing that. Let me know who you are and where you're watching from down in the comments section below. I love finding out where people are from and what they're up to. So make sure you share who you are and if you're watching the replay, feel free to let me know as well. So I'm going to pull this up here. So this is my channel and I'm going to show you how to get started here. Don't forget if you know anybody who wants to start a YouTube channel for their business to share this as well. So you, you can share it on Twitter, on Pinterest, on Facebook, wherever, and give this video a thumbs up. So if you do not have a Google email account, that's the first step you have to do. So you have to create a Google Email account. Once you do that, you'll be able to set up your YouTube channel. And once you get it set up, you always want to go up to this little icon right here. If you don't have one yet, it'll be like a little blue icon or red icon and, and want to go to creator studio. So this is basically your home base for your YouTube channel. So once you come in here, you have your YouTube channel, you're ready to get it set up. The first thing I want you to do is to verify your channel. So how you do that is you go over to channel here and this is where you can verify your channel. If it's not verified yet, there will be a button right up here that will ask you to verify you. You will click on that button and Google will ask if it can send you a text notification for like a code. They'll send you that code. You type it in, bam, you are verified. From here you want to make sure as many of these little boxes are green or enabled. So you'll go through here one by one to enable them. The ones that are available, your custom URL is not available until you have 100 subscribers. So you might have to wait on that one. What you do want to make sure you have enabled is monetization. Monetization, because that's going to unlock a few features here on YouTube that you definitely want to use, like custom thumbnails. So if you go in here to custom thumbnails and you click learn more, it's going to tell you you need to monetize. So just click on that more and it's going to show you exactly how you can set up monetization on, on your channel so that you can start using custom thumbnails. And custom thumbnails are basically the picture that you see for videos. So let me just go back to my channel here and I'll show you what those thumbnails look like. So this is a thumbnail. This is a thumbnail, this is a thumbnail. It's your main marketing material for people clicking on your videos. Alright? So once you have your channel verified, you want to start branding your channel. So the first thing is this channel banner right here. You definitely want to upload a channel banner if you want your channel to look professional. So what you want to do is go over to this pencil and it's going to say edit channel art. If you click on that, it's going to give you an area that you can upload your photo to. And if you aren't sure of this exact template here. You can always download the template from YouTube right here. And it's a great way to, to make sure your videos stay in the safe place, which is this area here. The next thing that you want to do is add your icon. So you'll just click on the pencil here and upload an icon. And what you should definitely have here is the same image that is on all of your social media platforms. So if somebody finds you on Instagram or on Facebook, you have the consistency here on YouTube. Why it's important to have that icon is because this is how people are going to connect with you. If you're commenting on their comments or you're commenting on other videos, this is the icon that's going to show up. So I always suggest having a picture just because it connects more. People get to see who you are and they can connect easier with you. The next thing on this homepage that I want you to do is go back to this pencil and edit your links. Your links are these guys right here. So if you click on edit links, somebody is about to mow here. So I apologize if it starts to get noisy. But you can go down to your links right here and add in your Instagram, your Twitter, your Pinterest, and now you have a clickable link on your channel banner. One thing that I suggest doing is if you have a free opt in. So, so say you want to get people on your email list by using YouTube. This is one step that you should definitely do to start converting your YouTube subscribers to your email subscribers. So whatever your opt in link is, if you have a landing page or if you have a page on your website where you're collecting emails, put that link right here and then put in some text to get them to click on it. So I have my free YouTube channel checklist, which is what I'm going through right now with you, that people can click on and download and have so they can go through this later today or maybe tomorrow when they have more time. So you want to have your opt in as that first link because it's the biggest link right here. It's the only link you get to actually write something at. So let me go back to my channel and show you your next step. The next step I want you to do is to click on this gear right here. So before I click on that, let me show you. You can see right here I have these tabs right here, my home video playlist channel. And about if these are not showing up on your channel, that's because you have not clicked this gear icon and turn on customize the layout of your video. So you want to make sure this guy is blue and it's turned on. That's how you're going to be able to really customize and set up your, your YouTube channel. And I do have a video on this if you want more specific information on what you should put, how you should organize it. And that video is this guy right here. So if you want more information on customizing your channel, just check out that video. So the next thing we're going to do, we're going to go back into our creator studio and show you how to add a watermark to your videos. So a watermark is basically, if you look in the corner of my video right now, you'll see a click to subscribe image. That's a watermark. That's what you can have on every single video to entice people to subscribe to your channel. And so where you go into that is you go over to your channel tab and you go down to branding and then you'll upload your image. I would just suggest using maybe like a 300 by 300 PNG and branding it to your colors. So my brand colors are like a gold, a black and white. And so once you upload that, you can decide if you want it to display during the entire video. At the end of the video, a custom start time, I have mine play through the entire video to promote people to click to subscribe. And if you want to see how that works, go ahead, click to subscribe and you can see exactly how it works. So adding that watermark is really important to help starting to grow your channel. So the next thing, while we're here on channel, I want you to go to advanced and this is where you're going to add channel keywords. So channel keywords is a great way to tell YouTube what your channel is about so they can start ranking your channel based on, based on the information that you're giving them. So for me, I'm using, I'm talking about YouTube tips and tricks, YouTube hacks, YouTube strategies. And you want to separate each of your phrases by quotation marks. So if you have like a four word phrase, just put it in quotation marks. What I would suggest doing is list it out on like a word document or a notes document so that you can make sure you spell everything right. Once you paste it into here, it's the whole length right here. So I would definitely list it out first and then copy and Paste it. The next thing we're going to do is go back to our homepage. And you guys, I see you in the comments section. I really appreciate it. Katie, Jessica, Emily, Elena, thank you guys all for being here. I'm so happy that you're here. I'm going to be answering all your questions here in a minute. I just wanted to get through all this content first. So we're gonna go back to my channel homepage. I got distracted talking to you guys, and this is a really important step a lot of people forget about. It's the about section of your video of your channel. I'm sorry. And this is really important because the first 100 characters right here show up when people hover over your channel. So I'm gonna show you an example here in a minute. So. So what you want to make sure you do is use some keywords here, the same keywords that you used in your channel keywords, to really pitch yourself. So if somebody finds your channel or somebody sees you commenting on somebody else's video, the first 100 characters show up and you can kind of pitch them to come over to check out more about you. So let's just say I know my recent video is common YouTuber mistakes YouTubers make. And I believe I'm ranking here. Hope this is the right phrase. And it wasn't the right phrase. I think it was this one that new YouTubers make. Yeah, so say somebody's scrolling through here and they're like, oh, wait, but who is this? Tips with Trina. If they hover here, let my computer catch up a minute because a little slow. You can see that about section will generally show up. But since I'm live, it's not showing up right now. But this little hover card pops up and it will show people those first 100 characters. I will also show you. So say you commented on somebody else's video and somebody is checking you out to see, oh, what's this person all about? They seem to have some great comments. If they hover over your name here as well, that hover card pops up again. Give my computer some time. So see, that's why it's so important to have that about section filled out. And I would definitely suggest including your upload schedule. So if you're planning to upload every Tuesday, Thursday, like I do, make sure you put that in there. New videos are posted every Thursday, plus live monthly training classes, just so that they know you're here, you're active, so that they'll want to subscribe more the next thing I want you to add on your channel is featured channels. And this is a great way to really highlight people. You, people who inspire you or some friends that are on YouTube or maybe you have a couple other channels of your own that you can highlight. I have another channel, it's strictly like lifestyle mom channel. And then these are some great women that I've learned from some free friends of mine here on YouTube. So you can just click the pencil guy right here and edit it. And you can add channels so you can search them or just click their URL and paste it in there. And it's really important just to highlight some people, you know, to support one another. And it's just a great way to feature some amazing content on your channel. The next thing, as I'm going through this checklist pretty quick so that you guys can watch this as often as you want. Slow it down, speed it up. We're going to go into playlists. And playlists are so important. This is a great way for people to start consuming your content and it's a great way for you to rank playlists. To set up a playlist, you'll go into the playlist tab and click New Playlist. You'll create a playlist title and and fill in the description box using keyword phrases. So you'll see. Here I have best YouTube tips and tricks how to have a successful launch. Creating playlists. It doesn't matter how many that you have, it doesn't hurt you. It is a good thing to create playlists. In fact, I heard a statistic like create a new playlist every other week. They're just a great search engine optimization thing to have on your channel. So. So feel free to keep creating playlists. And then once you have playlists, you can add them to your home page. And the way you can add your playlist to your homepage. So you go down to the bottom here and there'll be an add section right here. Go ahead and click on that and from there you can add your playlist. What you want to do is click Select Content, go down to playlist in one of your single playlists, and you want to choose from my playlists. And then you can find the playlist that you've created waiting on the computer. Waiting on the computer. And you can set up playlists vertical or horizontal. I kind of break it up every now and then so it doesn't look so mundane. I'm sorry, this isn't going to work for me today. My computer is dying. So. See this is a vertical setup and this is a horizontal setup. So I just have it broken up a little bit. So it's not all straight across videos just to be eye catching and pleasing for people and really organize my content. Now the next important for starting is what my channel looks like to new visitors. I have a play, I have a channel trailer. And I know a lot of you get have a lot of questions about channel trailers and I'm going to ask, I'm going to answer them very soon. In fact, I have a video planned in August to talk to you more about channel trailers. But what you want to do here is just upload a video to let people know who land on your channel, who you are, what you do, and why they should subscribe to you. So what value are you going to give them for subscribing to your channel? Are you providing them tips? Are you providing them trainings? Are you providing them insight or behind the scenes look at your life? What is it that that they should be subscribing to your channel for? And then just ask them, call to action, tell them please subscribe to my channel to make sure you don't miss out. And then you just want to make sure that you have the description box filled out to really pull them in what direction you want them to go. So I'm asking them to subscribe. They just have to click here to subscribe. Check out my blog or check out the tools I want to use. So definitely use this as well when uploading your channel trailer. Now the next thing that I really want to share with you is creating a custom subscriber link. So what that means is when somebody clicks on this link, they're instantly asked to subscribe to your channel. So the formula for that is I'm going to type it in this box right here. My apologies if it's too small. Let me know if you guys can see it. If not, I can type it in the description box too, but let me know if you can see it. So the custom link that you're going to want to use when you share out your YouTube channel to everybody is YouTube.comsubscription/center? Add user equal and then put in your link to your YouTube channel. This is how you can allow people to click on your video. Click on your link and the screen will be grayed out and there'll be a question that asks them if they want to subscribe to you or not. So that's just a great way to start promoting it. I will put this link in the Description box. So if you guys can't see that or you, you need it somewhere else, I will definitely put that down. So for me, it's going to be ad underscore, user and it is tips with Trina. So whenever people click on that link, they're going to be asked if they want to subscribe to my channel before they're directed to my channel. So it's just a cool little way to promote people subscribing. So I'm going to go ahead and turn off the screen share and talk to you guys about launching. Hey, guys. So I get a lot of questions about how many videos should I have when I launch. I used to say just start with one, just go all out with one and really focus on promoting that. But I'm going to tell you have about four or five videos ready to go up. That way you have a library actually going to tell you you should have like eight videos done, edited and ready. That way you have some videos in your library, you're not going to be stressed about getting the next one up. You're not going to be pressed for time. If you can take like a couple weeks, really focus on eight videos, film them, edit them, get them up on YouTube, optimize, you know, don't push them live yet. Just get them ready to go on your channel and then this is how you'll want to launch your channel. I think this is a great way to really start pushing traffic to your videos and getting your content out. So out of those eight videos, I want you to push a new video every day for the first four days you launch your channel. So say you launch your channel on Monday. I want you to push a video live and promote it everywhere. Then on Tuesday, I want you to promote the next video. I want you to do that Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Now you have four videos live and you have four videos still in the library. So then just focus on pushing a new video every week for the next month. I just think this is a great way to really start drawing traffic to your YouTube channel, to start letting people see the types of content that you're creating and for you to have that content on your YouTube channel as people start to come and find you. That way, you know you're not feeling stressed. Now you have a whole month to catch up on your videos, to film some more videos and edit them. I would suggest not uploading any less than one video a week. YouTube really loves content creators who are uploading weekly. They're actually loving people who upload three times a week. And I know that's difficult. So I'm not telling you to do that at all. Just really commit to doing once a week. And if you really want to see growth and you really want to see changes in your business, you got commit, you got to commit to doing one video a week and that's how you're going to see changes. If you watch my video from Monday on, the best tips that I had for new YouTubers, if you watch that, you'll see that. If you start with 0 subscribers, but you see another person starting and already has 100, just take into consideration how many email subscribers or how many social media followers do they have on other accounts? They already have a built in following. So if you're a small business getting started and you're going all in with YouTube and you only get a couple subscribers the first week or the first month, don't get discouraged. Keep going at it. Be strategic with your titles, your thumbnails, your description box and your tags. And I've got plenty of information here on this channel for you guys to learn to know how to really be strategic with YouTube. So in no time you, you'll be beating that business owner and subscribers that maybe started the same time as you and grew really fast and they weren't being as strategic. So don't get down on yourself if you're just starting out. Make sure you're subscribed to this channel by clicking the, you know, the little graphic in the corner of this video so that you don't miss any content that I have coming up. And like I said, in August, August, I'm doing a new video every single day and three live workshops. So make sure you're subscribed. And now I'm going to go ahead and open up to questions. So go ahead and leave me your questions in the comments and I would love to hear from you. So Emily says is it important to start creating playlists as you create and upload your videos? Yes. So Emily, create a playlist. Say you have a new, your first video, create a playlist for that video and start adding videos to that playlist and then maybe in a couple weeks make another playlist. I've been doing a lot of YouTube research because I really keep up to date on YouTube strategies and techniques and what's working and what the industry is doing. And playlists are huge for YouTube growth. So create playlists, doesn't matter how many you have, just create playlists. What other questions do you guys have while I am here about YouTube? Who all is starting a channel. Don't forget if you liked this, this training and you want to see more, give this video a thumbs up. Share it on Facebook. Let your followers know. That really helps me grow my channel so that I can focus more on you guys and it really helps me figure out what it is you guys want to see because I'm really here to support you. I know YouTube is a tricky platform, a scary platform and I want to be your support system. So by you sharing out my video and pushing people over here to watch my content, it not only helps me help more people, but it also allows me to focus more time on my videos as I grow my channel. So thank you guys so much for all the support and any more questions while we are here? You guys question how many keywords should you have for your channel? So I think you're allow like 500 characters so do like 6 to 10. Don't get too wrapped up on it. I know when we talk about optimization we can get really hung up on numbers and don't get too wrapped up on it. Just throw some phrases in there that really subscribe your channel. Describe your channel Surely I would definitely use mindful meditation meditation tips. Meditation how to's Those would be great for your channel and your keywords. Thanks Katie. Shall rewatch later. No Shirley, it does not matter what order those keywords are in, it's just key giving YouTube metadata. We always talk about the metadata. It's just giving YouTube metadata to figure out what your channel is about and where they should recommend your channel in search. So thank you Shirley for being here and asking questions. Does anybody else have any other questions? If you are watching the replay as well, leave your comments below. I will definitely be checking back in to answer all of your questions. I do have a Facebook group as well that I am in every single day answering questions and that's video for Biz Crew. The link is in the description box along with the checklist for today's training. So if you don't have the checklist from today's training, it is in the description box so that you can grab that. It's a PDF you can download and easily check off the boxes as I went through here as you replay it or maybe watch it a little bit later. Okay, well if you guys don't have any other questions like I said, feel free to check in on my Facebook group and ask me questions. Feel free to ask questions in the comments section down here. I'm on Instagram a lot trial but I'm not Going to hold you guys here if you don't have any questions as of right now. Oh, last minute question. Sharnae says, I see that you do transcriptions for your videos. How do you do yours? I do my own. So if you. If you go into your video, once you upload it, you can go to, I believe it's subtitles or transcriptions. And if you had your video uploaded on YouTube for a couple hours, YouTube will automatically generate the subscriptions or the transcriptions, and you can go in there and edit them. That's the quickest way for me to do it. I just go in and just kind of tweak the things that YouTube had wrong on what I'm saying. I know my name is always spelled wrong in what they transcribe. Another way. You can send it out to a place like Fox Fiverr to get it transcribed as well. Or Rev R E V is another one. And they charge $1aminute. So if your video is 6 minutes and 2 seconds, they're going to charge you $7. It's really easy. They're pretty great to work with. They'll get you back the transcription in a couple hours. All you have to do is upload that file. Jessica says, my channel has been up for a while, but I missed a few of these things during setup. That's. That's okay. That's why I did this training. I know a lot of people miss a couple steps. They don't really know a lot about YouTube. And that's why I'm here, to really teach it to you guys so that you can be successful on YouTube. Because I really feel like this platform is so important and it's one of the most underutilized platforms for business owners. And it's such a great one to really build your business and not only your visibility, but your credibility. So no problem. Jessica says thank you. This has baffled me for ages, and I just don't have the time to do this. Oh, it's not difficult. Trust me, once. I know the first couple times is difficult. It's just like riding a bike. Not many people jump on a bike and ride it instantly. But the more times you get back on that bike, the more times you ride that bike, the easier it gets. So you're jumping on that bike and doing whatever it is you need to do. YouTube is the same thing. Yes, the first month may be difficult. Yes, it may take some time. But once you do it, you know how to do it. You're knowing how to do your titles, you're knowing how to do your transcribing, you're knowing how to do the description box and it just becomes second nature. Just like something that you might specialize in, whether it's email marketing or Instagram. I think those things are are a pain in the butt. But I'm not on there constantly doing it. So the more I do it the easier it does get. And that's the same way here with YouTube. So it's not time consuming and all you really need to do it's like a five minute video helping people and you really don't think about the lives that you do change with just five minutes of content. Somebody struggling on something that you can help them with. It's just amazing the people you can reach here on video and here on YouTube. So yes it's difficult the first couple times on YouTube but it gets easier. System strategist in me is so proud of your post. Its in the background. Yes that is some fun things coming to Trina Little.com so I will announce them here on YouTube first. So if you want to know about the post its I will definitely do a video on those first and be subscribed here on my channel so that you can be the first to know about it and potentially sign up for it. Thank you Charnay. I love my posts too but when we move in a month all my posts are gonna have to come down so that video is gonna have to be up in a month. So thank you guys so much for being here. I'm gonna wrap this up. I have an appointment at 2 so thank you for being here. Don't forget to subscribe. Feel free to share this video. Like it? Let me know you enjoy this type of training and be here next week for sure. Next month for sure. I got a lot going on here so thank you guys and have a great weekend since tomorrow is Friday. Bye.
