As we kick off a new year here for 2018, me and a few other amazing business owners are doing a collaboration on how you can refresh your business. I'm really excited for this collaboration and in my video today I'm going to be sharing with you five ways you can refresh your YouTube channel homepage. Hey guys, my name is Trena and welcome to another episode of Just the Tips. If you are brand new to my channel, I I help lady business owners figure out this crazy online world so they can have more time doing the things they love. Like I said, this video is in collaboration with some amazing business owners, so make sure you go check out their videos as well. We've got Courtney and Natasha and Erin and Jasmine. I will link all of their videos down below because they're going to help you refresh your business as well. Head on over there, subscribe to their channel and let them know in the comment section that I sent you. Now let's jump into the quick little things you can do for your channel homepage to make it better for this new year. The first thing you want to do is start creating playlists. These playlists can not only rank in YouTube search, but it's really going to let people know what your channel is all about when they land on your homepage. You need to make it as clear as possible what you are doing on your channel. So if you look at mine, you see I'm giving you helpful tips for video ideas, business motivation. Come up with playlists that are really going to highlight your area of expertise. Next, go to your about page and update it. Maybe you haven't updated it in a while, maybe you changed your upload schedule, but really highlight what you're all about and show your value proposition and explain to people what value you're going to bring to them. And make sure you're using those keywords that you want to rank for in YouTube. Next, update that channel banner. Like I said, most people are going to subscribe from your channel on this homepage. So make sure that channel banner is really attractive. It gets across the point of who you are. Your value proposition again, because you have like five seconds to really grab people's attention. So if you don't have a channel banner, definitely get one up there. It doesn't take a lot to make one. I've got a video that walks you through how you can do that. You can watch it. I'll link it above and down in the description box as well. You can use a tool like PicMonkey or Canva to really create a nice channel banner. The next thing is fixture editing. And this is a really quick thing. If you have a bumper and when I say bumper, you have like this little video intro with music and pictures and like your logo. You have this intro video. Move that to after your hook. When people click on your video, you need to be the first thing they see. Not this music looks like an ad type thing, right? You need to be the first thing that they see. Then you can put in your bumper after they see you. But ladies, this little bumper video should be 3 seconds to 5 seconds max. People really want to get to the content, especially if they are finding you for the first time. So. So you don't want to give them a reason to abandon your video. You want to keep them watching. So you got to make this little bumper video short. The next thing that you can quickly do is update your description box default. So not every time you upload a video, you have some automatic content that goes in that description box. So whether you're promoting playlists or whether you're promoting your website, maybe you even write a little brief intro about you in that description box as well. So if somebody finds you for the first time, you it's all in there. Or maybe it's even your affiliate links to your Amazon store or whatever it is. You want to update this description box so it goes on every single video you upload because it's going to save you so much time. Now while you're here updating your description box, make sure you make the default upload to Private. When you upload your video, you've got to add that thumbnail and your tags and your captions. So it's important to make sure when you upload your video, you upload it to Private. So you can do all of that stuff before you schedule it or set it live. Now head down to my description box, check out the other ladies videos, let them know I sent you. My question of the day for you is which one of these are you gonna fix on your channel today? Let me know. Thank you so much for watching. If you like this video, make sure you give it a thumbs up. You click subscribe so you don't miss more YouTube tip videos like this and I will see you in the next video. Bye.
