What is this YouTube platform and how do I effectively use it for my business? Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of Just the Tips with Trena where I provide you business advice that you can take action on today while I sip on some coffee or wine. Because that's all us business owners really need, right? Last week I posted a video about the benefits of having a YouTube channel for your business. So if you missed that video, make sure you check it out by clicking the link right up here or down in the description box. So today I wanted to talk about how you can get a YouTube channel set up for your business. The first thing I want you to think about before creating your YouTube channel is your strategy. So think about what types of videos you're going to create. What types of videos does your target audience want to see from you? What types of content does your target audience respond well to? You should know your audience and what they want from you. So you should really focus your content around them and what they need and want. Then you want to start to think about how often you're going to post to YouTube. YouTube will rank your videos and your channel higher the more authority your channel has. You can gain this authority by posting videos to YouTube consistently. I'm just telling you to start out with one video a week. That's only four videos a month. Start posting one video a week and stick with that schedule. The more consistent you are posting, the more YouTube will rank you higher in their search results. Just come up with a schedule and stick to it. Next, let's talk about the channel banner. You you want to make sure you create a channel banner for your channel and that it is on brand with everything else you have going on with your business. So keep it the same colors, keep it the same font, just keep it on brand. When people click on your channel, you want them to see this gorgeous image and quickly get an overview of what you're about. So make sure you include in your channel banner your name or your business name and a brief summary of what you're all about. Don't make it very long. Don't clutter this channel banner. Just make it brief so they get an overall quick view of what you're about. You also might want to add when you post new content so they know they can come back and see more. And finally, you want to make sure you organize your video content. Now, when you first start your YouTube channel, you're probably not going to have video content to add to your channel. So what I suggest doing is creating a playlist that curates other content that you love from other YouTubers. Now I want this content that you're curating to stay in line with what you do and what your business is all about. So if you're a web designer, you don't want to add videos to this playlist that are about what you eat in a day or a makeup tutorial. You want to make sure the content that is in that playlist relates to your audience and questions your audience might have or content they would enjoy hearing about. Another great playlist you could create is is a Periscope playlist. So if you Periscope frequently or you have a few Periscope broadcasts, go ahead and upload them to YouTube and create a playlist just for your Periscope broadcast. This is great because you are using this content in a new way and you're actually exposing it to new audience that might not have ever seen it before. So take your periscopes and upload them to YouTube and start a playlist there.
