The Best Content Creation Strategy (Save Time, Be Productive, And MAKE MORE MONEY!)

Trena Little walks through a quarterly planning system for video content: pick monthly themes, build weekly pillar videos, then repurpose them across platforms. The strategy cuts production time while boosting engagement and sales.
It's really important if you're creating content for your business to be consistent. That means creating one piece of pillar content every single week. That comes down to 52 pieces of content every year. But it's not all about coming up with 52 ideas. You need to make sure these ideas fit together like a puzzle because you need to be creating content that causes your audience to come back time and time again. You want them to be excited to come back each week to your brand new piece of content. People are generally not going to buy from you the first time they see you. So the more you can get them to come back, watch, learn from you, the more likely you're going to get them into your one on one services, coaching programs, or even buying your digital product. So the question remains, how do you fit all 52 pieces together? Well, we've been doing a case study here on my channel for the past couple of weeks with that idea in mind. And what we saw was our stats. Our numbers went up across the board, not only here on YouTube, but also on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. We saw my YouTube subscribers and the views on my channel go up by 30% compared to December. And my Instagram engagement went up 70% and I reached 157% more accounts in January with this strategy than in December. And listen closely here. This all happened without spending more time than I normally did on content. Want that formula? Well, make sure you hit that subscribe button right now to show me how bad you want it. And let's get going. Hey guys, welcome back. My name is Trena. If you are new here and this channel is all about helping you organize and plan out your content so that it makes you more money in your business. And your content is going to be key to making you money in your business. So the very first thing I did to create this content strategy that upped all my stats last month was to focus on video. Listen. Video content is going to really help you reach more people, get more engagement, and ultimately see more traffic to your business. So I've got to really hit it hard here. If you aren't creating video, it doesn't have to be a YouTube video. Whether it's Instagram stories, Instagram TV, our live, you've got to find some time right now to commit to video content. Not only are all the platforms rewarding creators who are creating video content, but video content will actually save you a lot of time. Surprise, right? Keep watching because I'm going to show you how it saves you time. YouTube is my pillar piece of content every single week. This is the content I need you coming back to. Excited for watching, sharing, whatever it is. This piece of content needs to come out every single week. Then I start to think about my quarters. Every three months is a quarter. So for quarter one is going to be January through March. What am I doing during this time? Then I need to focus all my content around because again, as a business owner I'm really focusing on my business model and I'm not really focused on driving subscribers driving followers. Because I'm going to tell you, while AdSense is great here on YouTube, I make 40 times the amount of money in my business than I do from adsense. So it's pretty easy to see why I'm focusing on my business and not really concerned about growing to 100,000 subscribers. Under 40,000 subscribers subscribers, I'm still making enough money over in my business because of my content strategy. So for quarter one of this year, my primary goal is to get you convinced that video content is a necessity in your business. Because I am hosting an online summit called the Video Reframe Summit where we are going to help you reframe the way you think about video. We have 12 speakers for this summit that is reaching all different aspects of creating video content so that you can leave this three day summit with a clear plan in place for you to use video effectively. So if you want to learn more about the Video Reframe Summit, I will link to where you can get your free ticket. Yes, it's absolutely free. And where you can learn more about it. But knowing this is my quarterly big event, all my content is going to fit together to promote this big thing. Other things that I focus on on quarters is launching a program called my Video Strategy Academy program, launching my agency, maybe launching a podcast if you're thinking about that. If you think about one big launch each quarter, then you're going to know what all your pillar content is going to be focused on and how that PUZ starts to fit together. So for me, again, knowing that quarter one of this year is all about the Video Refrain Summit, I started breaking down January and February into content buckets or content themes. I want to think about you as the viewer. Where are you stuck right now with your content you're creating for your business and how can I build up to it to get to the point where I've convinced you that video is what you need and how you can start doing video without feeling overwhelmed. So when I tell you all about the summit, you're really Going to be ready to dive in and learn more. In January, you notice I talked all about creating your content, setting up a content marketing plan, what your content strategy should look like. You can watch that entire playlist right up here. Now, in February, we're moving on to the video aspect of that. So you got your plan in place, but how do you turn your plan into actual video pieces? So that's what we're going to be talking about all this month on my channel. And so you can see how it literally starts to flow into that big quarterly launch that I'm going to be doing now. Knowing the content themes for each month, I need to be able to break down these big themes into smaller steps so that with each video I create, you're achieving something. At the end of each of my videos, you should be able to implement something that has helped you because not only are you seeing success from my videos, I'm building trust with you because you are able to take my free content and actually see results at the end of my free content. So you're more likely to want to learn more from me since all this free stuff has been so great. Let me know below if you've already got your content plan set up from the past couple of videos I've done Comment below. My content plan is done because of Trina in the comments below. So what I do, knowing that I want to create these little steps for you to achieve this big theme of the month, is I start researching. And researching is really a key element here because not all videos, like I say, are created equally. You need to find the best angle for your video that not only your audience wants to watch, but your audience will click on and that you can really break through all the noise here on YouTube. Because you can. Even though you feel like YouTube is saturated, you still have a way to break out. So what I'm looking for when I'm researching are four things. One, what topic is actually needed and is being searched for? So I will take what I hear you all talking about and then I will figure out how you're searching for it on YouTube. The second thing I'm looking for a unique perspective. Since there's a lot of content about a lot of things out there, I need to find what is my perspective on this topic and what perspective is going to get you to click that you are interested in. Three, what do people really want to hear about when it comes to that topic? So this is where I go deeper into my research and I look at the videos that are showing up in my search and that are getting views. And I'm looking at the comments and I'm looking at what are people saying? What do they like about that video? What do they need more of? What's the conversation going on about this video or about this topic? And number four, what is the best way for me to title and thumbnail this sucker so you will click on it? Because if nobody clicks on your video, it doesn't matter how amazing your content is, no one's going to watch it and that video is going to be a waste of your time. So you've really got to hone in on titling and thumbnailing your video the best way possible. So if you're doing one video, which I highly recommend getting started with, I've just recently upped to two videos a week. But I've been doing one a week for many years on YouTube and has still seen success, not only on YouTube but in my business. Only commit to one video a week. If you can come up with four video ideas that fit into that one month theme, then you can move on to that next step. You're going to take these four videos and you're going to multiply it into as many pieces of content as possible. But because it's video, you're multiplying your video content for more platforms. And before you say but Trina, won't people get tired of seeing the same content on all my platforms? Absolutely not. Nobody is seeing every single thing that you do. Some people may follow you on Instagram, some people may follow you on YouTube. Some people might not even see your story about that piece of content because it expires in 24 hours. Some people might not see your Post or your YouTube video. So multiplying the content you're creating and repurposing it on as many platforms as possible is going to really elevate the amount of views you could get on your content. Building that community, building that authority, building that trust with your community. Okay, so now I have you bought in on repurposing and how magical it's going to be. Let me tell you how to do that. When you sit down to film your pillar piece of content. So today I'm sitting down to film about five YouTube videos. So five weeks of pillar content. I will shoot my entire YouTube video sitting here. Then I will film an alternate ending specifically for Instagram tv. I may say something like, if you enjoyed this Instagram, leave a comment below with your biggest takeaway and share this episode out with your followers. If you Think they will enjoy it? If you've got questions, feel free to DM me and I'll see you next week. Right. That's very Instagram specific and I'm getting them to take action in an Instagram engagement way. Right. Commenting, sharing DMing for Facebook. I may say something like leave a comment below for your biggest takeaway. Share this with your audience and make sure you like my page for new videos every single week to help you plan and organize your content. Right. That's very easy. Facebook specific. So I'm taking one chunk of video and I'm able to easily start repurposing it into three pieces of content. Then you can literally start pulling out 15 second clips for Instagram stories. We've also been trying a formula for turning this video into an Instagram reel. You can get the transcripts of this video and turn it into a blog post. We also send this to our newsletter every single week. So they've got really value good content every single week. You could do an article over on LinkedIn. Just this one piece of pillar content is now over 10 pieces of content for you and you aren't recreating the wheel. You're getting the most out of that content that you created. Don't just make one video and let it sit on YouTube. That's a waste of your time. You need to maximize that video. Platforms love videos, so use those videos in as many places as possible. Would you want to throw a little bit of lighter fluid on this repurposed strategy and take it to that next level? Here's one thing that's that's really been getting me a lot of engagement on Instagram. I'm taking that pillar piece of content that I'm doing every single week and I am writing a story. How does that piece of content tie into my personal life? People love stories. People love to get to know you. This builds that relationship with you. Every Tuesday, I've been sharing a story about my life or something that happened to me that my audience can relate to and it ultimately ties into that pillar piece of content. You can check out some of the Instagram posts I've done recently, but they all focus on whatever topic that I'm covering that week as my pillar content. I'm also not even using fancy photos for these posts. I'm taking selfies. I'm taking pictures of my kids in a messy room. I'm taking real life pictures. Things that we can relate to and not like the perfect branded photos which are great for some things. But to really make that connection with your audience having real life photos just grabs their attention better. And every single time we're posting we're getting a lot of engagement, more than I've ever had before. Again, thinking about repurposing. I also take that story that I post on Instagram on Tuesday and we just reef an angle it just a little bit and use it as my opener in my newsletter content. So I'm building that relationship with my newsletter subscribers because not all of them are watching me or following me on Instagram or catching my posts. So I'm building that relationship with them with that little snippet of my story. And then I'm giving them this value packed video every single week as well. Icing on the cake. So let's break down what this completes formula looks like for you. First you need to think about what are you promoting that quarter. So your quarterly promotion. Then you're going to think about your monthly themes that will lead to your quarterly promotion. Then you're going to think about your weekly content ideas, your pillar piece of content. Then you're going to film that YouTube video for each week. Then you're going to repurpose that YouTube video in as many places as possible. And the last thing you're going to do is tell one story a week, whether that's in your newsletter, your Instagram post, or putting it multiple places. I will tell you this particular strategy that we implemented in January helped me book seven strategy sessions. Seven. Okay, let's look at this. On average, on average, I book one strategy session per month. I went from one a month to seven in one month because of people seeing more of my content, hearing more of my story, and wanting to work with me because of all of this combined. When you work with the best type of content, video content, not only do you save time creating content, which we all got to save time, right? You're going to make more money. You're going to grow your business because people are going to respond to your authenticity and they can't see your authenticity through text and images. They really need to see and know what it's like to work with you one on one, see how you deliver content. And an added bonus, video content on any platform is going to reach more people. If you're ready to finally tackle your video content plan, I've got two things for you to do right now. 1. Make sure you get your free seat to the Video refrain summit that is happening February 23rd through the 25th. We've got 12 great speakers that are going to help you with every aspect of video content that you could imagine. It is totally free, so check that link below to get your free ticket. Once you got that ticket, the second thing you need to do is watch the playlist on your screen right now. It is from what I did in January that walks you through the entire content strategy system that I talked about. Seriously, it's all behind the scenes secrets of how I develop and create a content strategy. So make sure you click on your screen right here and I'll see you in video number one.
