The Secret To Setting Goals You Actually Reach

This is a YouTube video titled "The Secret To Setting Goals You Actually Reach" created in October 2018. It features Trena Little speaking directly to her audience about her personal experience with goal setting using PowerSheets planners. She explains how these planners have transformed her approach to setting and achieving goals by breaking them down into actionable steps, monthly check-ins, and habit tracking. Trena also introduces a Trello workflow she developed to help organize YouTube content creation and offers a discount for viewers who purchase PowerSheets through her link. The video is an instructional and motivational talk focused on effective goal planning and productivity tools.
Hi, YouTube friends. I wanted to jump on here. This is me here to talk to you about goal setting. If you know anything about me, you know, every single month here on my channel, I update you on my goal progress and goal tracking with a tool called PowerSheets. I've actually been doing PowerSheets now for two years. So here is my 2017 PowerSheets, and here is my 2018 PowerSheets. And I wanted to talk to you real quick about why these goal planners has really changed my way of thinking of goals and changed my way of actually setting and achieving goals. So what I really love about the powersheets is that they break down this little worksheet at the beginning of the planner. And so I usually save the last week of December to go through these prompts and really think about my goals. Prior to PowerSheets, I was basically just setting these arbitrary goals. Grow my email list X amount of subscribers, or make X amount of money or lose this amount of weight. They're just arbitrary goals and they didn't tie back into how I wanted to feel and where I wanted my business and life to go in the big picture. Right. The goals to me just didn't really make sense in the big picture. So with those, they really gave me some exercises to break down to think about what would be good goals for me. And even more important, they break down how to do this. So if you're watching, I want to know, are you a goal setter? If you've been setting goals, do you reach them or do you always feel like a failure? Because that, my friend, was the biggest problem I had with goals. When I first started my business at the end of 2015, early 2016, I had no idea about setting goals. I was not a goal setting person. All through life. I mean, the only goal that I would set is I, I want to be X amount of weight. Like I had a goal of weight that I wanted to weigh, which is so cliche. That's really the only goals that I had at the time. But I want to show you the 2019 power sheets have just come out. They look like this. So there's multiple covers of these as well. There is like a blue, a yellow one, a pink one. They have like four different colors, a greenish color. And this is what has been game changer for me. Okay, I'm going to walk you through these prompts that have really helped me figure out the right goals as I go through here. I just want to show you they come with these cool little stickers and I Want to show you a couple other things I got from the shop as well, since this is officially open 2019 and they do sell out really quick. So what I do at the end of the year is this little prompt has a page that says, let's get messy or 2019 ideas get messy. So you have a place at the end of the year to just brain dump all the things that you want to do in 2019. You don't have to be organized with it. You don't have to worry about the big picture here. You just brain dump everything that you want to accomplish. So it really starts to get your juices flowing and your ideas going. Then it walks you through. So who are you and what do you want to be? So if you want to internally make some changes, this is really going to get you thinking through that to help you in your goals. Okay, stick with me here. This is all going to make sense in a minute. Then what I love is this new. This was new last year. It's called a cultivated life evaluation. So you can go through all these different aspects in your life and give it a ranking. So you can see giving it a baseline, right? So there's a health, friends, finances, spiritual and personal growth, spouse, significant other, family, work, and recreation. So you can kind of set it at a baseline of where you're at going into 2019. This is really going to make a change for you to see. Are you making these better? Where were you at in 2015? 20. Where were you at at the end of 2018? And then you have like a quarterly check in back to this page to see, has it gotten better? Has it gotten worse? Why? How's it gotten better? How's it gotten worse? So it just gives you that checking point to really actually see change with the goals you set. Then you start getting into the real nitty gritty of setting goals. Okay? It's going to make you evaluate, like, what are your fears? What are your fears that are holding you back? And you want to write them down and get real, honest and real here. Because dumping this all out is really going to help you get to those goals that matter to you and not just those superficial goals. So once you go through all of these different exercises to get you figuring it out, what I love in this new Power Sheets is it breaks down goal steps. And let me get to the page. What it does is you list your goal right here and then it gives you steps. So this is your first big picture goal. Why? Why is that goal important to you if there is no why behind it? And it's just a superficial goal. You're not going to have any passion or any motivation to actually get it done. So what is your why behind that goal? And then it breaks it down into the positive effect. Taking action on this goal may have on me and others a couple other exercises. And even more important, the next page is how you are going to do this. So many times we set these goals, but we don't set a plan of attack. And so this goal planner really helps you set that plan of attack so you don't forget. So it's going to break it down how? What does this process look like? And you can start creating a roadmap for how you're going to take tiny steps to accomplish this goal. Then it gives you the space right here on your starting step. So what's the first step you're going to take and when are you going to get it done? This is absolutely game changer when it comes to setting goals because you can set those giant goals like, I want to get 20,000 YouTube subscribers. Okay, if you're just getting started out, that's fantastic. But what are those other goals? What are those smaller goals that you need to accomplish to get to this big picture goal? Maybe it's getting your channel banner up in your channel trailer because it's a brand new channel. Maybe it's put putting your videos into playlists. Maybe it's changing your thumbnail templates. Maybe it's upping your YouTube posting schedule to two days a week and instead of one day a week. So what are these changes you need to do? And more of a. What's the word? More of a. Not macro, more of a micro level that you can then hit this bigger goal. Okay, so that's what's so important. And then of course, you see me every month checking in with you on my tending sheet. So each month you kind of just have a checkpoint on what's stressing me out, what fears do I have? What are you hopeful that will happen in the upcoming month? And then you just kind of get to brain dump. Like what are the things that I want to get done? I know for me right now it's going into November and I already have all these ideas that I want to get done. It's always a great idea for me to brain dump. And then the tending list is really game changer for me. I have it up right here on my wall. I think you can see it right here. It gives you what are these little goals you need to accomplish to Accomplish that big goal. Also, what are weekly action items that you need to do again that go back to those bigger goals? So maybe it's eating healthy that's your goal. So weekly action items for me is meal prepping, drinking more water. Okay. And then even down to daily habits for me, I've been really trying to create some daily habits. So that's been like making my bed, drinking water, trying to figure out a morning routine, things like that. So I also, I got a surprise for you if you decide you're thinking about jumping into these power sheets again. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message or email me. Simple. Lee, Beth is ready. I have the link to order down below in the description box, I think. So it's just bit ly goals with Trina, but if you buy from my link, I'm actually going to give you a discount on something that's launching next week for me. It's totally new and I'm going to give you a sneak peek. All right. It is my YouTube Trello workflow. Okay, so let me actually show this to you. I'm going to share my screen so you can get behind the scenes of what this looks like. So let me get over here. Here is the board that you're going to get. What I love about this board is I have broken it down to every single step. Look, 57 checkpoints for you to make sure you get everything done. This is my exact YouTube workflow from starting out from research to scripting my videos. I even have script templates in here for you in Google, in Eventote and a PDF version as well. Everything I do to film, edit my video graphics, optimizing, promotion and analyzing, all of that is in here. And even better, it is in a teachable platform. So it gives you exact training on how to use these. Video training, exactly how to use these. I'm just going to pull this up. Let's get started with this. You can see I walk you through how to use this board and if Trello is new for you. So the first section is getting you set up through each of these sections. So from keyword, let's go back here from what to do with idea, brain dump, keyword, research, title and tags the whole way through here. Exactly how to do that. Plus this gives you a training on how to use Trello because I know not all of you use Trello. So I am giving you mini trainings on what are Trello boards, cards and lists, plus how to create new cards, how to delete a card Everything you need to know to get started on Trello, because I know it can be a little bit of a difficult platform to manage. I'm giving you that training. So if you buy Powersheets today, I'm going to show you right here, I'm going to give you a coupon code. You just tell me, show me proof that you purchased from my Bit Ly Goals with Trina and you're going to get this for $47 instead of $97. This isn't even launched yet. It's going to be launching next Monday, so you can get access to it right now. And like I said, all you need to do is head over by your Power sheets, take a screenshot, let me know that you bought them, and I'm going to give you the coupon code that gets you in here. So all you do is you click here and it's going to ask you add a coupon code and I'll give it to you and it will go down to $47. So I want to know if you guys have any questions for me, if you're thinking about buying Power Sheets, if you got questions, if you got questions about the Trollo board, let me know. Simple Beth said she is ready. Thinker Pie. I am not doing channel reviews today. Today I'm going to try to start picking up channel reviews again maybe next month in November. So we'll see. Right now I just wanted to talk about goal setting because we are getting into that time of year where we're thinking about 2019. We're starting to plan out 2019. That first quarter comes up on us so quickly. I know for me, since I've planned out all my goals at the beginning of the year, I have put in space so that I don't have to work most of December. I'm working a little bit, but not a lot. I want to spend time with family. And then we are also going away in the month of December too. So by planning out my goals and my Power sheets, I can really plan out my weekly tasks so that I can get everything done that I wanted to get done that year without having to worry about crunching it all at the end of the year. So if you guys have any questions, please let me know. Please tag me here. Also on my Facebook group video for Biz Crew, I'm in there asking, answering your questions. I am just really amazed with what Powersheets has done for me because I am not a goal setting person. I never was. Like I said, after my first year of setting Goals without the powersheets, I just pretty much felt like a failure because I set these giant goals, but I didn't think about it in a micro level. What are the next things we need to do? I didn't keep checking back in. The powersheets really gives you that accountability and that reminder to get back in there. Even having your your tending list up there as well. Also I forgot to show you. I also purchased they have pens. I'm always in need of pens so I got these pens. I haven't really tested them out yet. I think they're more like marker esque pens. Let me pull these out real quick. Leave me any questions you have in the comments below as I open these so I can answer any questions. These are more like felt tip pens. So yeah, that's basically they look like felt tip pens. Can you guys see that? I'm excited to use these. I currently use gel roll pens. The these are the pens I'm using right now. The paper mate inkjoy gel pens. One exploded in my holder the other day so they're all destroyed with this blue ink that I've been coloring up. How often do you check in on your goals, organize to save says So I do the tending list every single month. And I also have, I think I can get this off of my wall. I also have this right near my desk. So I'm basically looking at my goals every single day. So I know my monthly goal this month was to launch my new Trello board and if all goes according to plan, is officially, officially going to be launched on Monday. So that goal is done and that goes back to a bigger goal of mine on my income goal. So all these little goals all feed into the bigger goals. I also had a monthly goal to do a 31 day fitness challenge. And again, not all of these happen. So I didn't do all 31 days this month. But that fits into a goal of mine to get healthier with day to day life. So eating healthier, exercising more again. And then it goes down into my weekly goals feed into some of those goals as well. So this month I really focused on getting healthy as we move into the holidays, you know, Thanksgiving and Christmas, we start eating more. So I really just wanted to start getting into that routine so that it didn't slip out during the holiday season. So I wanted to do three workouts a week, meal plan. And then of course my daily goals are always to help me figure out a routine because I'm still struggling with like setting routines, morning routines, evening routines, work Time routines and I just need to get more and to a routine. And so every day I have these and then monthly I reflect on them and I always go back to those big goals every month to check on them. I hope that answers your question. Organize to save. I wanted to show you guys one more thing that I bought there. I bought a sticker book. I'm not a sticker person but next year I bought the simplified planner instead of my Erin Condren planner that I normally use. I thought maybe there was a way that these stickers might make it more fun. I'm not a huge planner, but I do like planning. I currently have every single day of the rest of the year mapped out for me of what I've got to do. So I am a planner just to make sure I get things done. So this sticker book has like the ways for you to color code. So these are little color coded flags that you can tag things. These are little dots. So color coded dots maybe like this is for goal one. These are the checklist things you need to do to get rid of to get to goal one or goal two. Determine on how I'm doing these. I think I'm going to do a YouTube video on how I'm setting up my power sheets for you all so you can see that. So if you want to follow along with me, make sure you grab your set as well. There's also these little hearts. They're little heart stickers and then they have just words and phrases here. I don't know, I'm not sure. Like I said, I'm not a huge sticker person but I thought these might be fun. I like movie night. I've been trying to keep be more conscious of spending time with family and setting up movie nights, play dates, coffee dates. I really like this one. It says put the phone down. So I've been really trying to do this at six o' clock every single day. So I'm looking forward to use that. So just some stickers, fun stickers. I think they're usable. It makes actually me not having to write as many things. So instead of me writing must do, I can use this sticker. But yeah, so those are the things I bought. I had bought my power sheets. I bought the multicolored one. Like I said, there's four covers that you can choose from. There's a yellow one and orange one and a green one. I think a pink one. Yeah. If you guys have any questions again, if you sign up and you buy these, just send me proof of purchase trina little.com and I will give you that coupon code to get my Trello workflow for $50 less. Okay, thank you guys so much. If you have more questions, I'm going to be on my Facebook page in a little bit talking about these as well. So I hope I will see more of your Trello Goal videos as well coming up in 2019. Because remember, we can always link up together and do our powersheets check in. I do that the first Friday of every month, and you're more than welcome to join me and Ashlyn as we do this the first Friday of every month. All you need is your powersheets. So thank you guys. I hope you have a great rest of your Wednesday. Bleh. And I'll see you soon. Bye.
