You started a YouTube channel and there were crickets. No one watched that video that you posted. You're getting no new subscribers. What did you do wrong? In today's video, I'm going to share the biggest secret to maintaining a YouTube channel for your business. Hey, guys, my name is Trena. Welcome to another episode of Just the Tips. If you are new here, make sure you click that subscribe button down below, because I'm posting new videos every week to help you build a video Strategy here on YouTube. How many of you have a social media plan or. Or you plan out your social media postings in advance? Let me know in the comment section below if you plan this all out. So the number one secret to being successful on YouTube is posting consistently. Now, before you get worried about jumping into YouTube and thinking you have to post all the time, let me explain myself. I know we all have lots on our plate. Trust me. I got clients. I got a business. I'm a mom. So thinking about having to post a video every single day for who knows how long can get scary. But I'm just asking you to commit to one video a week. Just one video a week. That's only 52 videos a year. But I want you to think about it this way. If you post a new video, say your first video, and five people watch it, and maybe one person subscribes. Okay, great. Then the next week, you post another video, say eight people watch this video, and another person subscribes. So think about how that snowball affects going. Once you start posting consistently every single week, what consistency also does is it starts to condition your viewers that you have a new video coming out same time, same place. So every Sunday night at 7pm you post a new video. It starts to condition people. Just like their condition with TV shows. As you start to develop a following on YouTube, your subscribers are going to remember, oh, Trena's posting a new video tonight. I got to make sure I check out that video. One reason that helps you is because you instantly get views on that video in the first 24 hours, which is so essential in ranking your videos. The more views you can get in the first 24 hours your video is live, the higher your video will ultimately rank. Another benefit of conditioning people to get to your video as soon as it's live is it's bringing somebody who wasn't necessarily on YouTube to YouTube. And why that is so important is because you're starting that person's session time. Say they were on Facebook or they were scrolling through Instagram and they remembered oh, Trina posts a new video today. They go over and watch your video first and that starts their session time. Any video they watch after yours, you get credited for that session time. Not only does that help your channel rank better, but it also helps rank that video higher because it's credited all this session time that people are watching after they watch your video. The reason why this happens is because YouTube wants people to the platform. You YouTube wants people watching. So if a video is bringing people to the platform, they're going to reward that video with a higher ranking. Unfortunately, there's no concrete evidence that the YouTube algorithm favors channels that post consistently. But as YouTube moves more towards television content and actually competing with television stations, it's going to make sense that YouTube's favoring creators that are consistently bringing people back to their channel. Just like a TV show. To to get your channel started on the right foot, make sure you grab my YouTube channel checklist right here.
