Week in the Life of a YouTube Strategist and Mom | Behind the Scenes Vlog

This is a YouTube video titled "Week in the Life of a YouTube Strategist and Mom | Behind the Scenes Vlog" created in January 2021. The content is a personal vlog by Trena Little, where she shares a detailed look into her daily life balancing entrepreneurship, content creation, motherhood, and business management. She discusses her planning process for YouTube videos, live streaming, and managing her schedule flexibly as a mom and business owner. The video also includes some interactions with other speakers but is primarily a monologue by Trena Little.
This is my issue when it comes to vlogging. Like a day in my life or even live streaming.
I got a lot of stuff going.
On any given day and I literally can't remember to pick up the camera and get on video unless I have.
A plan to do it.
So my goal today was to bring you in my day and show you everything that I do as an entrepreneur.
As a business owner, as an agency.
Owner, as a mom. And here we are. It is 12:17 in the afternoon.
I haven't picked this up yet.
So the goal is we're going to wrap today up. I've got three more calls this afternoon.
We're doing speaker interviews for the video.
Reframed summit and a strategy call. And then I have a hot seat in my mastermind. What I'm hoping to do is then show you tomorrow some of my content creation tactics, how I balance that along with live streaming over on TubeBuddy. Hopefully in this video you can get.
A sense of how I particularly balance it all.
It's very hard for me to get on video unless I have a plan. So we are going to put a reminder on my sauna to pick up this camera and share with you how my day goes. Does that sound interesting? You hit that like, and let's see how this goes.
One thing I'm making an effort of every single day at the end of my workday is taking off all of that makeup and getting a workout in. I personally am not a morning workout, but I realized just getting on the shoes and doing a bike ride, whether it's 15 minutes, 30 minutes, just really helps with stress. Now understand, for all you moms out.
There, it's taken a long time for.
Me to get to the point where I can work out and my kids are entertaining themselves, but man, it feels good.
So the kids are at Nana's back home, had breakfast.
I'm actually going to be working from the couch today. Yesterday I was supposed to be planning all of my content for my YouTube videos, but I just wasn't feeling it. I wasn't getting creative. I couldn't figure out, like, what I wanted to create. Figured, let's do a change of scenery. Let's sit here by the fire watching inauguration coverage and about to jump on a call with my Facebook ads specialist. We talk every week and she's more than a Facebook ad specialist. While she does run my Facebook ads, she's really like my business bestie. And we both bounce ideas off each other every Wednesday.
So that's the goal here this morning.
Still drinking that coffee.
So probably going to walk you through.
How I plan my content a little bit. One thing I want you to understand is you've always got to be flexible. If you don't feel like creating content in a day, then you have to figure out how you can shift it around. Because yesterday, like I said, I just could not come up with ideas and got creative with it. I was supposed to be filming all my YouTube content today for February, but it's not going to happen. So just move some things around in my calendar. I didn't want to force it. I didn't want to just push out content that I wasn't excited about or thought was good. Just moving some things around. I also have a live stream with TubeBuddy today. Let's see if I can remember to vlog. Let me just run through kind of what I'm doing to plan all of this. I go in complete detail on so many videos here on my channel about how this system works. So I will link them below. But take a look at what I'm looking at right now on my computer screen and what I'm doing as I'm planning content.
So everything happens inside of Asana here and I've got some ideas I'm working on. But before I started the New year, I came up with series that I was thinking I wanted to do.
So every single month there's a different.
Series that I wanted to focus on. Right now in the month of January, we're focusing on content creation.
Next month or February when this goes.
Live, I am focusing on video marketing and I want to pull in all the stuff we learned in content creation this month into video marketing, which is also going to tie into our brand new summit, the Video Refrain Summit, all about video content creation. So I am literally taking this template that I have full of all the things I need to do to get a video ready and I'm duplicating it with ideas and then move the ideas over here to title and script. While I'm thinking about what's the best direction for this video. So here are some that I've had in here. I'm not sure if I will actually do this one or not. I did have a plan for January 31st. Here's one I'm thinking to kick off off February with, but I'm still not sure. That's why there's no due date. And then here are just some ideas as I'm getting started here. It's just thinking about the overall idea before I then dive into the YouTube research. So I'm going to be going into YouTube, I'm going to be going into Tubebuddy, I'm going to be seeing what people are saying on videos like this to determine what I want to say. Once I have that all out, I will literally script it out. So you can see this is a particular video where I've done all of this pre recording stuff, which is what I got to do today for four videos so that on Friday I can pop in all of this. So inside of here you'll see that I had all the tags determined before I recorded. I also scripted. So I literally just scripted my content inside of here as well. So it was super easy to access. My team could access it as well. We could just copy and paste a lot of this content for Instagram content, blog content, email newsletter content. All right in here. So that's why we've been keeping it stored in here. Then whoever uploads my videos can just literally copy and paste these tags. I took a photo of myself, seriously, it is just a self timer on my camera. And then I added a Lightroom preset and sent this over to my designer. She's on this board as well. And then I told her like, this is what I'm looking for. I like this example. For this particular thumbnail put some alternate images as well for Instagram posts, carousel posts, those types of content things. And there's the thumbnail. So I gave her this text. She created it. She also created a IGTV cover for us as well. And my editor has then popped in all of our final files here in the Dropbox. So everything is ready to go for this video today. I'm filming this on a Wednesday. This is Sunday's video all ready to go.
As of yesterday, it has not been a productive day. I've been watching the inauguration for most of the day and literally just moving things around on my calendar to make up for the non productive day. But got some time here. I'm gonna try to do a power hour, power out, as much planning of YouTube content as possible so that I can then film on Friday. I generally will batch or schedule 2.
To 3 hours to plan this content.
So we're cutting it a little bit short. So maybe I will block two days for filming coming up.
I like to do about four to.
Six videos in one batch recording. So I need to have four to six videos planned. But that's because I've been posting two videos a week on YouTube as a case study study. And so far I'm loving what I'm seeing. So I have till about 5 ish till the kids get home. Probably a little bit later. I'll probably jump on my bike around five. We already have dinner done for the week. We made a big pot roast on Monday, so we're gonna eat leftovers so I don't have to worry about dinner. I also have a discovery call with a client for my agency. But here's what I want you guys to know. No matter how much you plan, no matter how much you schedule, and no matter how much you spend think your day is going to go, always factor in time. Time for the schedule to change, time.
For you to change, time for you.
To move things around. You don't have to stay to what you put on your calendar. Just move it around. If you don't jam pack your day full of everything you want to get done, that's how you're going to do better at it. Instead of like, all right, today I'm doing these 20 different things and in reality, you're never going to get those 20 things done. My primary goal here today is to two plan three YouTube videos.
Hoping this vlog is the fourth video.
I need to send to my video editor. Let's go. Okay, so I just finished my first video that I had planned. It took me about an hour. So I want to show you with that video what I've done. Let me flip my camera around and show you all the things that I got done within an hour. So in that hour, I got a working title. I still want to work on this just a little bit, so I'm happy with it. I also came down and got the SEO research.
So these are the main tags I'm going to be using.
And I scripted this entire video out, ready to go and have my call to actions at the end. Just about an hour. And that got me one video done to film hopefully this Friday.
So that's just the content piece what I need to record, but I still.
Need to nail down what I want the thumbnail to look like.
So I'll research on YouTube a little.
Bit for some ideas is sparked. So when I take my thumbnail photo on Friday, I know what face I'm making, what pose I need, and I can let my designer know what text I want on it. And they also want to nail down that title as well so I can incorporate it within that hook of my video. So when people click on my video because of the title and the thumbnail pretty early on that they are confirmed, that's what I'm going to be talking about. So those are two things I've left to do.
So it's already Thursday and this is why I'm so bad at vlogging is because none of my days are ever the same. So yesterday we took my two kids to Nana's house, but today kids are at home. So I got up this morning at 5:30. I worked on editing some video assets for one of my clients and then I had some coffee and got ready for the kids to get up because.
I knew it was going to be.
A very quick turnaround for me to get out of the house. Today I had a dentist appointment, got brand new retainers on my braces journey. I have one kid, Cohen, is at preschool this morning. That's where I actually am picking him up. And my daughter is on virtual kindergarten with my mom sitting with her. So everything is so different from day to day. There is no set schedule. I try to set a schedule and follow it through. But as a mom entrepreneur, my biggest key for you if you're in the same boat, is be flexible. Know the major things you want to get done every single week and just focus on those. If you have like five things you want to get done the whole week, see where they can fit in. If you don't happen to get it done like yesterday I didn't get filming done so I'm going to have to move it to tomorrow. You just have to be aware of what you want to get done and fit it where it can happen. That is my best advice for the rest of today. Hopefully I remember to bring you along. I have a coaching call with my Video Strategy Academy members which we have. Every single Thursday I have another interview for the video Refrain. So we're doing all the interviews with the speakers and then we're going to edit in their presentations. I'm hoping to get them all done by next week. If you haven't signed up for the Video Reframe Summit yet, it's a totally free online summit to help you reframe the way you think about creating video content. I'm going to leave a link down below for you to snag that free seat because it is all happening the last week of February and it's created by Women for Women Creators. I'm really excited for that and I think the doors have opened.
I better go get this guy or.
He is pretty mad but I'm not on time. Let's leave a little bit of mom life in this so you can see what moms have to go through.
Mom, get in your seat.
No.
Every time.
Just wrapped up. Interviewing speaker number four for the video refrain summit.
These interviews are going to be so good.
I can't wait to get these out.
You definitely want to grab your seat.
For the video reframe summit.
I'll put the link down below.
But biggest lesson learned this week, because this is the end of the week for me, I will be filming content tomorrow. Since the inauguration kind of stopped my.
Filming on Wednesday, I kind of was glued to the TV instead.
But typically I am done on Thursday. So the last thing that I'll do to recap on Thursday or to end.
My day on Thursday is I have a planner. This year I bought the Passion Planner.
And what I like to do in this little corner right here is recap my week. Write down any things that I accomplished.
All of my like got to do.
Lists, things so that I can reflect as basically a journal every single week.
Like, oh, that's the week this happened. That's the week that happens at the end of the year. I can flip through this and see little nuance things that go on through the week.
We really don't think about when we're reflecting on the year as a whole. We really only think about those huge milestones. But there are so many little milestones that happen in a weekly basis that.
We need to be reminded of. And so that's kind of the wrap.
Up that I like to do.
I also like to clean up my.
Desk because you can see, can you tell I was doing some paperwork this week. So I would like to clean up my desk, get a fresh start for the new week. We're getting a new computer this weekend, so I'm gonna have to clean off this guy. It's about 10 years old, that computer. Let me know if you enjoyed this vlog. If you would like to see other.
Vlogs from me, what you would like to actually see.
It's so hard to show you anything exciting here because I'm just pretty much a regular person working in this room day in and day out. No two days are the same as you can tell this week and off Monday for Martin Luther King. So the kids and the husband were off and then my mom is here on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The kids are gone on Wednesday. But then when I normally create video.
Content on Wednesday, this week was the.
Inauguration and I would have rather watch that. I do create, like I said, kind of theme days. So if that's something you want to.
See, let me know.
Check out the playlist that I have.
On your screen right now where I'm.
Literally giving you the entire process of how I create my content marketing plan.
All the things you need to know.
To create an effective content marketing plan and not only helps you drive more subscribers and followers, but turns into money like new clients and new students. So click on that video and I will see you next week.
