You know that little description box right below me? Do you ever wonder what you should be putting in this? Are you missing something? If you're not filling it out, stick around. Because in this video I'm going to be sharing with you what you should be putting in your description box and how you can set up description box defaults to make filling out that description box so much easier. Hi, my name is Trena and on this channel I help creative entrepreneurs like you get on YouTube to grow your business. Now, I promise you to talk about exactly what to put into that description box. So let's just get right to it. The content you should be putting down in that description box is content that describes what your video is about to YouTube. So it's going to be really important for you to reiterate those keywords you're hoping to rank for. So for this video particularly I'm talking about, what should you put in your description box? In that description box, I want to have keywords like description box content, what to write in your description box. Description box defaults those types of keywords and phrases in a conversational tone. What I actually do is I write a mini blog post in my description box. It's about two paragraphs and I spend a little more time on that because then I can take that content and also post it on my website as a blog post linking to this video. So that's why it's really important. Not Only is it YouTube content to give to YouTube to know what your video is about to help you rank and get suggested more, but. But it's also content for your website, especially if you're trying to repurpose this video content as many places as possible. Some other things to put in your description box are links to your favorite or most popular videos or your most popular playlists. The more you can get people watching your videos, the more YouTube is going to reward you. So you really want to minimize links to places off of YouTube. I know my links are not up to date. I definitely, as I'm filming this, think I need to update my description box content. But it's really important to include links that are going to keep people on the platform. YouTube will kind of not suggest videos that they constantly see people leaving YouTube when they come to video. So keep your external links very minimal. You'll also want to, in the first line of your description box, make sure you reiterate the title of your video or that mean keyword that you want to rank for now. Now you could also add your email address if you want people to contact you through email or a link to your discovery call if that's what you're focusing on, YouTube or to your Facebook group. But really keep those external links like 1 to 2 max. Now I want to show you on my computer how you can add defaults to your description box so that you're not having to update that every single time you upload a new video. The only thing that you'll have to add when you upload a new video is that two paragraph summary description that video. So to set up your description box default you'll need to go into your creator studio. Then from here you'll want to go to channel and click Upload defaults and this is your section right here. Description. Under Upload defaults you can add your free Facebook group. Definitely add, you know, links to playlists or other great videos you think your audience would want to watch. Because again that's promoting more watch time on on your channel that shows YouTube. This is a great channel to recommend more frequently. You could also add a quick little about you section in here that's using those keywords that really describe your niche and what you want to show up for. You can also add your email and if you do have links to affiliates where you are making money, always make sure you have a disclaimer that this video and description contains affiliate links. It is a must by law to have those pulled out. Once you have your default descriptions and added here, all you need to do is go into save and every single video you upload will have that text. Alright, if you need some more quick YouTube tech tips, make sure you click that video that is on your screen right now. And don't forget to subscribe to this channel for new tech tips every Tuesday. Thank you so much for watching and I'll see you in the next video. Bye.
