This is a YouTube video titled "Why Video Content Is KILLING Your Business" created in September 2019. The content features a single speaker named Trina who provides detailed advice and strategies for business owners on how to effectively use video content to drive sales and engagement. The video covers topics such as consistency, video purpose, repurposing content, audience retention analytics, and increasing viewer interaction. It is an instructional and motivational presentation aimed at helping entrepreneurs improve their video marketing efforts.
I'm going to tell you a little secret about video content. Not all videos are created equally. So even though you may be going live on Facebook and going live on Instagram and then repurposing them on YouTube, you could actually be killing your business potential if you aren't doing video right. But don't worry, I'm going to walk you through exactly how to create the right video strategy so when you do post those videos, they're actually driving you more sales to your business. Hi, my name is Trina, and I help business owners build the confidence they need to show up on video by providing tips and strategies on all things video content. Let's talk about that first reason why your current videos are killing your business, and it's because nobody's watching them. Yes, you may be going live on Facebook and Instagram and people are popping on and popping off, and that's great. But if those people that are watching you aren't taking action, what's the whole point in doing that video? Are they grabbing your freebie or booking a strategy call with you or figuring out how to work with you? So there are two problems here that we need to fix. The first problem is we got to get people watching your videos. Whether you decide to go live on Facebook and Instagram or you upload a video to YouTube, you really want to utilize your current audience and promote the videos to them so that they can support you when you have a new video or you go live. The algorithm on all the platforms promotes engaging content. These platforms just want to make sure they are showing people good content, because if they aren't, people are going to leave the platform. So good content to the algorithm means people are engaging in watching your videos. Now, engaging is key here, and I'm going to walk through a couple of ways you can make sure your videos are engaging. So stick around. So to fix this problem of getting people to watch it, you have to be consistent. And when I say consistent, it doesn't mean you have to post every single day. You. You need to stick to a schedule that you're going live or posting videos, say Every Tuesday at 11am we as humans respond well to routines. And if you can start getting your video content into the routine of your target audience, you can always ensure you're going to have views on your videos. Just think about it. Friends was on every Thursday at 8pm, Game of Thrones every Sunday at 10am Now I'm Eastern Standard Time, so that's the time it was for me. So, but you can start to See how even TV shows remain consistent so people can incorporate the TV show into their lives. Side note, I love to know what you are watching on TV because I'm always looking for good shows. So let me know that down in the comments. But again, by showing up consistently, same time, same place, more people are going to watch and it's going to be recognized by the algorithm. Whichever platform you want to be on that you're creating good content that people are watching. Thus they're going to promote your content to more people, I. E. You're making the algorithm happy. Now let's talk about another reason why your videos are killing your business. And that is you are wasting your time and your viewers time with your current business, which is taking you out of your business. Things to do that are actually making you money. Here's the thing. I know what it's like to get ready for video. I do not wake up like this. Unfortunately, I'm not Beyonce and so I understand the time and the effort that goes into maybe getting your house empty of screaming kids, setting up the filming of equipment, doing hair and makeup. That takes time. So if you're going to take the time to do video, you need to make sure it's going to benefit your business. And that video has got to have a clear purpose that drives in to what is going to benefit your business. Is your goal in your video going to be to drive email subscribers so you're telling them to get your new freebie? Or is your goal going to be to get people into your new webinar? Or is your goal to get people to sign up for a discovery call with you? Otherwise, if your video does not have a clear purpose, you are wasting your time. Your time could be spent somewhere else in your business that's actually revenue generating. Because if you aren't making revenue in your business, you're killing your business. And not only are you going to be wasting your time, but you're going to be wasting your target audience's time. You're also wasting your time if you're hanging your hat, so to speak, on disappearing videos like IG Live and IG Stories. So quick question. Give me a heart emoji or a hands up emoji down in the comments. If you wish that you could get off the content creation hamster wheel and be able to use one core piece of content and repurpose it everywhere. Does that sound like a dream world to you? Let me know down below. Now don't get me wrong, going live on Instagram and doing Instagram Stories are a great way for you to start practicing your video skills and getting comfortable on camera. But these videos disappear, and in 24 hours. If you're taking the time to show up on video, let's maximize the reach we can get from that video instead of just having it disappear in 24 hours. And while Facebook videos don't necessarily disappear, they do pretty much get lost in the feed pretty quickly. Unless you throw some ad dollars behind it to boost it. This is why I always suggest having an evergreen video Strategy here on YouTube. Because once you post it on YouTube, it's here for forever and it can constantly bring you new leads in every day, every month, for years to come. I have videos I posted back in 2016 that still get views on them and bring me leads to my email list every single day. A video didn't disappear. The time I put into making that video is paying off. And once you create a YouTube video, you can start repurposing it so you can get off that content creation hamster wheel. You can use that video on Facebook for your blog posts on igtv. In fact, if you're watching this video right now, you can be watching it on any of these places. My YouTube channel, my Facebook page, my IG stories, my IGTV, and even on my blog post. In fact, I actually created a video multiplier roadmap for you. So if you want to see how you can take one specific video and multiply it 10 different times, I'm going to leave the link for you to grab that right after this video down in the description box. That roadmap is actually going to break down all of the different places that I repurpose my videos and all of the dimensions you need for for social video on all the platforms. So make sure you grab that after this video, okay? You are also wasting your viewer or your target audience's time, which is critical when it comes to you building know, like and trust. If you're wasting their time, they're not going to know, like or trust you. Here's the deal. The human attention span is officially less than a goldfish. Yeah, a goldfish has an attention span of six seconds, whereas we now have an attention span of five seconds. So you cannot waste a single second of your video getting to the point. So that means you have to get to your content as soon as you go live on Facebook or on Instagram. You have got to stop saying, I'm going to wait for everybody to jump on those people that showed up for you live because of your consistent schedule aren't going to stick around and wait for you to wait for those people. And there's precious replay views that you get once that video is done. Those people aren't going to stick around either. They want you to get to the point because they have a attention span of 5 seconds and they got other stuff to do. They need you to get to the point. And if you aren't getting to the point, you're losing them. And this means you're losing potentially new clients and more money in your business. So how are you going to fix this? You need to have a plan of attack before you even go live. You need to have a clear hook to your video. That hook has to really address a pain point and make that viewer say yeah, I am struggling with that or yeah, I do feel that way and tell them you are going to resolve this pain point by the end of the video or you're going to share three ways to fix that pain point and bonus points if that way you're going to resolve it is your freebie or your opt in or your work with me services. See how this all starts to flow together. So the longer you get people to watch your video, the more likely they're going to get to the end where you tell them how to work with you or get your free freebie. The more likely they're gonna build this relationship with you because they spent maybe three, four, five minutes watching you and the more likely you're gonna get a new lead into your business. I want to know, Let me know in the comments if you are currently using video to drive leads to your business. I'd love to know which platforms you're currently using to get those leads from video into your business. Okay, now one last thing before I jump into all the tips on how to make your videos more engaging. Your video is going to kill your business if you are not looking at the analy that the platform provides you. Both Facebook and YouTube give you so much data that's going to help you create better content that's going to get more people watching your videos longer and is going to send signals to YouTube or Facebook, wherever you're at to promote more of your videos. So the biggest analytic you want to be looking at when it comes to video content is your audience retention or view time. YouTube and Facebook both have this data and what you want to do is go into this graphic and see exactly when people are leaving your video. What are you saying? What are you doing and how can you fix that to make your viewer Want to stay longer. Studying these audience retention graphs are going to make your content more valuable, which in return is going to make people watch your videos longer, going to want to make them do whatever call to action you have, and is going to send signals to the platform to push your video to more people. You need to remember that sometimes your piece of video content is the first impression that a potentially new client sees of you. And while things do not have to be perfect, like you don't have to have a perfect background and you don't have to have all the best equipment, you have to provide value, you have to be helpful. Because if they're struggling with something and they're watching your video to fix that thing they're struggling with, if you can provide them valuable content, that's going to help them get over that pain point, why will they ever hire you? Work with you, get your freebie. You need to stop focusing on all of the visual things like my hair's not dyed, I haven't lost the baby weight. And you need to focus on the value because that's what's going to drive you more leads to your business. Okay, now to the part you've been waiting for. How to get more engagement in your videos. Because I don't know how many times I've said, trina, how do I get people to comment like, how do I get these engagement signals on my video so that YouTube and Facebook push it to more people? The first tip that I have is to plan questions throughout your video. So like I said earlier about how you should have a plan of attack before you even turn the camera on. You should also plan and weed in questions throughout your video to make people want to answer them. Maybe you notice I asked you a couple questions throughout this video and maybe you commented down below, but this is how you're going to get that human interaction engagement. And then what's really important is once they do comment, you've got to respond back to them. I know things can get pretty hectic if you're running a business, but you've got to take some time, especially the day your video is live or you publish it on YouTube and really engage with your audience right there. This is going to show the viewer that commented on your video that you actually care about them and start developing your relationship. And it's going to show the platforms more comments. Because when you post a comment back to that person that shows another comment, it doesn't show like it's you responding, it just shows another comment. So that's more engagement on your videos. Another simple thing you can do for more engagement is sprinkle in actions like give me a heart emoji if this is making sense. Or drop your favorite emoji down below to let me know you're following along and you're going to take action on this. The engagement super simple, especially on Facebook where tapping those little emojis definitely is really easy. Just sprinkling in those calls of action to make it as easy as possible will help you get more engagement on your videos. Now I want to make sure that you grab that video multiplier roadmap so you can start really using the power of your video on multiple platforms and stop wasting your time creating content in all these different places. That roadmap is going to show you how. I take one YouTube video, repurposed it on 10 different pieces of content, and I got a little cheat sheet in there as well for you to know exactly how to format those videos, the dimensions you need for each platform. The link will be on your screen right now and down in the description box. And if you want to see how I start to plan out all of this content on an editorial calendar so that I get all of my content done in two days for the entire month, make sure you watch the video that's on your screen right now and I will see you over there.
