You Don’t Need More Videos — Just 5 That Work Together

In this solo instructional video, Trena Little argues that business owners who post YouTube videos without generating sales, email sign‑ups, or client applications are missing a strategic framework, not the algorithm. She introduces the "playlist funnel" – a deliberately sequenced set of five videos that together guide a viewer through a psychological buying journey and simultaneously please YouTube’s algorithm. The five videos serve distinct roles: (1) belief‑shift – reframe the viewer’s problem; (2) quick win – deliver an immediate, actionable result; (3) mistake‑avoidance – pre‑empt common pitfalls; (4) proof – showcase client results as social proof; (5) capstone – outline the transformation and pitch the offer (without being a hard sales pitch). Little explains why five videos hit the sweet spot for binge‑ability and authority building, and how each step moves a viewer from curiosity to trust to purchase. She shares a case study where a client with under 200 subscribers generated $152,000 from 16 videos using this funnel, and details how the sequential playlist signals high‑value sessions to YouTube, earning algorithmic “brownie points.” Practical guidance includes choosing searchable, specific topics, maintaining the prescribed order, and avoiding random or overly broad video series. An example niche (women over 40 struggling with energy/weight) illustrates how to craft each video’s title and content. Throughout, Little promotes her live workshop and one‑on‑one coaching for creators who want to map their own playlist funnels.

If you're posting videos on YouTube and you aren't making sales or growing your email list or having people apply to work with you, you don't need more videos. You actually need 5 videos that work together. Because like I said, if you're not making sales from your YouTube videos, it's not because of the algorithm, it's because of your strategy. And when you don't have the right strategy for YouTube for business owners, there are 3 big things that happen. YouTube doesn't know what your content leads to next. Your viewer doesn't know what to watch next and no one moves forward in buying from you. Now, this 5-video structure is what I call, what I've built is called the playlist funnel. I built it after watching lots of business owners, myself included, upload content to YouTube following the YouTuber rules and never turning those videos into revenue, getting clients, building their email list from it. If they did, it was very slow. Now, wimps, One of my clients implemented this 5-video playlist funnel that I created. After just publishing 4 of her videos in this 5-video series, she had generated $42,000. And let me explain, she doesn't have a massive channel. Her videos didn't go viral. She has a channel of less than 200 subscribers and her videos get on average between 50 to 100 views. After 16 videos following the playlist funnel, she generated $152,000. Again, her channel was less than 200 subscribers and her videos only got between 50 to 100 views. That is not luck, that is strategy. And today I'm gonna show you exactly how that strategy works. Before I break this down for you, I need to explain why this works. 5 videos is enough to build your authority with somebody and it's short enough to binge. Just think about it. If you see a playlist with 8, 10, 12 videos, you're like, I don't have time for that. So 5 is that sweet spot. It's also deep enough that if they watch those videos, you can really change their belief, and it's structured enough to take somebody from I'm curious to I trust you, I'm ready to work with you. And that's why most business owners think they need volume— more videos, more views, more subscribers— but they don't. They need this sequence, and 5 videos creates this complete psychological arc. So let's break that arc down. This is very much a funnel, just like an email funnel, just like a sales funnel like you've heard before. And there's 5 videos, right? The first video isn't about teaching. And this is where a lot of my clients get hung up on. They, they wonder, how do I determine what do I share on YouTube versus what do I keep in my course? Well, being a business owner on YouTube, it is not about teaching. It is not about tutorials and curriculum. It is about belief shifts. So this first video is about reframing the way they think about their problem. So video 1 is a belief shift. Psychologically, this is going to create tension with them. They're realizing what they've been doing isn't working, and you aren't giving them the solution yet. You're kind of shifting that lens for them to look at the problem a little bit differently. And when you can have that shift in belief, they think, oh, so for example, I have to change people's beliefs that It's not that you need more videos, you need to be more specific with your topics. So I need to change people's belief in what they, the YouTuber gurus say. And that's what I'm doing here is I'm shifting that belief to make you realize it is not about chasing more views and going viral. It's actually about getting very narrow and specific to make sure every video that you create, you generate sales from. Because then you're not just another voice on YouTube, you're the voice explaining why what they currently were doing has failed and they're leaning in listening. Now video number 2, and it is incredibly important that you are planning these videos because at the end of video 1 you have got to give a very clear call to action why they now need to go watch video 2 and that should be the only call to action. So you're creating this binge session and video number 2 is a quick win for them. Now it's not everything, it's not going to solve all their problems, but it is one meaningful win. So psychologically this creates this competency validation. You have validated related to them, you legit know what you're talking about because if they implement that quick win and they see momentum or they see a win, which is the point, they're like, "Oh wow, that did work." Trust increases, all right? So then again, you need to know what your next video is gonna be. So at the end of video 2, you pitch them to video 3 and this is all about mistakes. Once somebody tries something new, doubts start to creep in, right? Can I really do this? Can I really change the way I thought about this? I've been doing it this way for so long, but can I change this? So video 3 addresses those mistakes that tend to set people back at this phase of the buyer journey. Because now psychologically, this reduces the risk because you're saying, I already see the obstacles before you even hit them, and here's how you can avoid making those mistakes. This deepens authority. Okay, so then let's move into video number 4. And each one of these videos are critical in this process, and this is proof. This is the video where now you highlight a client's results, a client's transformation, a case study, a testimonial, because psychologically this needs to create certainty, is going to answer that unspoken question that they have. Does this work for someone like me? And when they have that certainty and they can see that from another person, not just you saying you can do it, but somebody else saying you can do it, that moves people towards buying, which takes us into video 5. And this is your capstone video. Now, this isn't a sales video. Hear that clearly. This isn't a sales video, but you are going to pitch your offer in this video because now they're primed. They understand the problem that they're having. They trust you and your process now, and they see you have proof. So in video 5, you're showing them the transformation, what it looks like to go from where they're at now to how they get to what happen in video number 5. You're basically talking about your framework, your blueprint, but you're hitting just the tips of the iceberg because there's a lot more to how you get transformations from people than, let's say, like step 1, 2, and 3. There's a lot of inner work or inner, uh, strategy that goes on, but you need them to be able to visualize how they're going to get to where they're at now to how they're going to get to where that person was in your case study. And psychologically, this is where decisions are made, and that viewer is either going to commit to figuring it out a loan or commit to working with you or buying from you. That's the 5-stage arc, and it works because it mirrors how people buy. It's the buyer journey. Just think about any email funnel that you've maybe, maybe implemented in your business, but it takes you one day to send each one of these topics, whereas you can create this as a public funnel on your channel that somebody could binge-watch at 2:00 PM on a Saturday and be a client with you by that same night because they can binge-watch. And if you put the strategy right, they're easily watching each video as it flows out. Now I gotta explain something to you here right now. Doing it like this also gives you brownie points for YouTube. So, so many platforms that we're on these days are pay-to-play, right? But if you play into the algorithm on YouTube, it's going to push your videos to more people for $0. I don't spend any ads on YouTube. I've never spent to pay for an ad on YouTube at all. My entire channel has been built organically following this process. Because when somebody watches 2, 3, 4 of your videos, YouTube sees a high-value session because YouTube wants to keep people on the platform. And if you're keeping them on the platform, you get brownie points. Basically, this is telling YouTube that you're a content creator that keeps people here on the platform. And when you keep people on the platform, YouTube's gonna distribute you to more people because you prove to them you're gonna do what it wants you to do, basically. So it's not that it's just a sales system getting people through the buyer journey, But now it's an algorithm pleaser, and that's why picking random videos and creating a list of videos and picking whatever video that you want to post doesn't compound. But this sequence does. There is a part here that you're probably excited about, but where people go down the wrong path here, and let me explain this in detail. This only works if you build it intentionally, so you can't choose a broad vanity topic to just reach more people to go down your playlist funnel. You've got to build it around something that people are actually searching for. So this is one of the things a lot of my clients kind of get stuck on is they think they need to be narrow, but then they go too narrow and they're creating videos on topics that their audience doesn't even know to be searching for. Or you sequence these videos randomly. You have to follow this psychological arc because it is the buyer's journey and you can't flip-flop videos. They have to go through this series video by video for it to work. Now, I talk a lot about having your foundation for YouTube right, and I go into detail about the top 3 questions you need to ask to have a solid foundation on YouTube in this video right here where I break down what I would do if I needed to start a YouTube channel from scratch. So I would absolutely watch that video next and answer those 3 questions in that video. And if you want to go through a live workshop with me to build out your playlist funnel and to ask me questions about your playlist funnel and your specific niche, make sure you grab a seat in my next live workshop at trenalittle.com/class, because what I need you to hear here is that this strategy works. So let's go through a couple examples. Let's say your specific audience is women over the age of 40 not feeling their best anymore. This is kind of like that perimenopause stage, and you are a health coach that helps them figure out how to feel better again. So in your first video, you need to reframe that problem. So a video for this example would be why your workouts stop working after 40. You've got to change the belief shift of why they believe their workouts aren't working anymore. Maybe they're thinking that they aren't working out as hard, or they're thinking they just need to do it more now. But you need to tap into why it's really not working. Is it because they need to up protein? Is it because they need to supplement with a hormone? What is your way explaining why it's not working and what they need to look at instead, which then leads them into that next video, which is a win. So that this video could be something like One Habit to Restore Energy After 40. Now I want to make sure I'm really speaking to my person, and that's why I'm adding that after 40, because why your workouts stop working could literally be for anybody, right? Maybe a college kid, maybe an ex-athlete, but we want to dial this into our after the age of 40, because that's a very specific pain point for women kind of entering that perimenopause stage, right? And then you want to make sure that habit again is very specific to that person, because that's what's going to make them implement that habit and be like, oh, it works. Now, how we want to make this flow— you're talking about why the workouts aren't working anymore, and at the end of the video you could say something like, to ensure you keep feeling energized after your workouts, you need to make sure you're implementing this specific habit that will really make you feel better every day. And I'm going to share with you what that habit is in this video next. See how now they're bought in? Which then we want to flow to the third video: 3 Mistakes Keeping You Tired After 40. So we are going to say, all right, this one habit will really make you feel better, and we're going to tell them what that is. And you can say, but there are some things that a lot of women after the age of 40 tend to do that they don't realize they're doing. So I want to break down the 3 mistakes that are really going to affect your energy levels. And I'm going to share those mistakes so that you can avoid them in the next video. See how that then flows? And you're doing exactly what I said. You're getting them to change their belief in video number 1. You're giving them a quick win. You're taking away that fear, right? That, well, what if it doesn't work for me? We're talking about these mistakes. Then we roll into that 4th video that is proof. Now this title is a little bit long, but I want you to understand the concept here. So how this 42-year-old Mom of 3 lost 10 pounds without working out every day. This is a very specific pain point that this niche is probably having. They are probably moms. They are probably incredibly busy. They don't have time to work out every day. And when they see— as you flow from the third video, you can say you break through the 3 mistakes and you say, now I know making a change in your life can seem overwhelming and can this actually work for you? So I want to tell you about a mom that I work with who had 3 small kids And at the age of 42, the pounds just weren't coming off anymore. So I'm going to tell you what we did to help her lose 10 pounds without needing to work out every day. Watch that video next. Boom. Instant authority, instant connection. Wow, she gets me. Which then leads into video number 5. Again, this title is a little bit long. It's not my niche, so I can't really refine it. I wanted to just have a different niche for you to see this. So if you're over 40 struggling to lose weight, follow this 90-day plan. And what I would do if I were a coach, I probably have a specific sequence of things that my clients need to follow when they onboard. I have this plan with my clients doing the YouTube coaching experience. There are specific things that they need to complete. I don't have it necessarily broken down into weeks because they can go through it as quickly or as slow as they want, but there are specific steps and specific things that they need to complete to get their YouTube channel up and running in 90 days. To make it sell. And that would be the same thing here. You want to touch point on what these key pieces are, but you're not telling them how to do those key pieces. You're not telling them what it involves. Is it this lab testing, or is it, um, this assessment, right? You're telling them about the assessment, but you're not telling them to do the assessment. You're showing them how this transformation that you just heard this last person talk about can happen for you. So you're taking them on this 90-day journey. You would say something like, well, the first thing that you want to do is For me, I would say the first thing you need to do is make sure you know what offer you want to sell from your YouTube channel. Once you're clear on that, then you need to make sure you understand who your ready-to-buy viewer is for YouTube. From there, you need to do the profitable keyword framework, and then you need to— right, I kind of walk them through how to get to that transformation. They're here, here's the transformation. I give them that bridge, but I'm not giving them the how. And now you can see How each video easily led to the next Netflix-style binge and how they finally get to the end here to say, oh my gosh, I need to work with her. Done. How do I sign up? And there are no dead ends because when they get to the end, the goal is to go buy. And that's what people miss. They leave dead ends. It's not just 5 video topics that you're creating. It's 5 very strategic connected steps. And that's what makes this a funnel. You see, most business owners' YouTube channels don't fail. Because YouTube is saturated. They fail because they upload random videos instead of building sales assets like these playlist funnels. If you're posting videos right now and you are not making sales when you publish those videos, it's because you have no clear defined next step that, that viewer knows where to go next. That could be even YouTube. YouTube doesn't know what to send them to next either, and that's why you're not going to make those sales. Or increase your revenue by posting YouTube videos. I am telling you, 5 strategic videos in this playlist funnel framework will outperform 50 random videos every single time. And if you want help mapping out your 5 videos for your playlist funnel, specifically for your offer and your ready-to-buy viewer, and start building these sales assets in your business, that's exactly what I help my clients do one-on-one inside my YouTube coaching experience.
