You're Wasting Time on the WRONG Platform in 2025

Trena Little argues that YouTube is the platform to focus on in 2025 for selling digital products and coaching. Long-form, evergreen content builds trust with customers who are already ready to buy, unlike other platforms where attention spans are shorter and content disappears quickly.
I'm not one to candy coat things. I want to be completely transparent with you. And right now, selling courses, selling digital products, selling coaching is difficult. Am I saying that people aren't selling and having success? No. But things have changed and we can't do the same things that the gurus were touting back in 2018, 2019, 2020. You have got to adjust with the times. We are already halfway through 2024 and looking at 2025. And to sell your courses, your memberships, your subscriptions, your digital products, your coaching, you need to make a change right now if you want to continue seeing results into 2025. The thing is the space, this online space has become more competitive. Customers have become savvier. They've bought crappy courses, they've invested in crappy coaches, and they're not so quick to pull the credit cards out with another course or another coach anymore. Their buying behavior has changed and it will continue to change into 2025 and you need to adjust to that because the old ways of selling aren't going to work. Now there is good news. It's not all doom and gloom. The good news is customers and potential clients are going to be looking for something specific. They aren't just going to look for any broad lane course or some broad lane coach. They're going to look for for somebody or a course that can solve their specific problem. They are also going to take longer to vet buying that course, to vet hiring that coach. So you're going to see longer buying cycles and you're going to need to do a lot of trust gaining activities to be able to make those sales, to book those clients. Because unfortunately, due to previous things in the online space, many of us have been scammed into crappy things. This is almost like a one, two punch because first of all, people's buying behaviors are changing. But the second punch is the way we've been selling on social platforms has changed as well. Platforms that have seen easy to create content like Instagram and TikTok, aren't that easy anymore. In fact, I've been talking about this the last couple of weeks on my channel. I will, I will link to those videos up here. But, but why? We think these platforms may be easier. Maybe they're quicker, they are exhausting because you have to create content pretty much every single day on these platforms to stay in front of your audience and to even grow your audience. Do we even want to talk about the algorithms constantly changing on Instagram? One day your real will get a bunch of views and the next day or hardly get any. In fact, I just recently posted on Instagram after not posting for weeks, and I had hundreds of views on that story story. So it gave me excitement, felt like momentum. So I kept posting stories every day because that's what you should do. Show up every day by like the third, third, third grade. By like the third day, my stories were lucky to get over a hundred views. Like, what the heck? And why? Now we do have the option for ads, and I do run ads, but I need you to understand what why I'm running my ads. My ads help me at least break even on the front end and then I make money on the back end because I am warming up my audience with video. I am showing up on video where my audience is finding me and then we are retargeting them. And so it doesn't take me as much to convert somebody on an ad because I have gained their trust already. If you aren't showing up on video somewhere, consistently running profitable ads is going to be pretty much impossible. And the next couple of weeks it's going to get pretty volatile. Over on the Facebook ad situation because of the 2024 election, this actually makes me curious for a minute. Where are you creating content for your business, like now? Like, what piece of content are you creating to grow your audience? Blogging, podcasting, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn. Let me know in the comments. And how do you feel right now about creating content? Excited, Motivated, Tired, burnt out, overwhelmed? Let me just know kind of what's going on with you so I can get a sense of the headspace that we have here in the comments. I've been talking about this for the past couple of weeks and you know, I'm going to tell you that YouTube is the solution for all of the things I just mentioned. It's long form gives you a better chance of building that trust, showing your authority. It's evergreen. It continues to work for you for months, even years. And you don't have to worry about chasing algorithms every other week because the YouTube algorithm has been pretty stable and we pretty much know what you've got to do on YouTube to see results. And I'm not talking about like going viral. I'm talking about creating a sustainable YouTube channel that is going to drive you leads and sales and grow your particular audience every single day. That's the kind of YouTube I'm talking about. I'm not talking about going viral. That's not for me. I'm putting time into my YouTube channel, my YouTube videos to find my clients, to sell my products, to grow my business. If you are trying to sell coaching or courses or memberships or digital products for the rest of 2024 and into 25, you really need to think about how YouTube can change what you do and the results you see in your business. And maybe you're dabbling with YouTube, maybe you're on YouTube and you want to see more results. You want to take it to that next level. You have to carve out time and dedicate it to YouTube to see those results. Because I'm telling you, 2025 is going to be a huge year for business owners who have put their time and their effort into their YouTube channel. Because you just can't show up on YouTube posting whatever videos that you want. If you want the best ROI on your YouTube videos, you need to understand how YouTube works. You need to build a content strategy around how YouTube works. You need to create the videos best for YouTube and you need to understand what YouTube wants from you. So YouTube will promote your videos for free. Because just putting up any piece of content is not going to yield you results. The reason why I say specific videos and not just any video is I see most business owners come to me and the problem that they have is they're doing tutorials or beginner content. And this type of content is the most saturated type of content on YouTube. So if you're a small channel or you're just getting started, it's going to be darn near impossible for your videos to beat other people that have much more clout and authority on YouTube. Plus, this is something business owners don't realize. If you're focusing on beginner content, this isn't the type of person who's going to buy from you. So who's going to work from you? That's why when I work with my clients and why every single video that I create, I'm building my content Strategy here on YouTube for my ready to buy viewer. I'm not just creating content for anybody. It's very specific for the type of person that I want to work with. As I mentioned, I'm not trying to go viral. I'm creating the strategic videos that I know my ready to buy viewer is, is searching for on YouTube. And guess who shows up? Because guess what type of content has the least competition in the least videos, More advanced content. So when I'm talking about, you know, analytics for YouTube or filming a YouTube video, that's much more advanced than somebody who's just trying to set up a YouTube channel how to organize their homepage on YouTube. Right. That's beginner level stuff. I want to reach the people who have already researched YouTube, have already played with YouTube, who are ready to commit to YouTube. And that's why you really need to think about your YouTube strategy in 2025 when you're focusing on YouTube. Because you don't need thousands of views to start making instant results on YouTube. If you create the right videos to get in front of the right people, by video one, maybe by video two, you could be getting that video in front of the right person. Not the masses, but the person who's ready to buy from you. I'm not saying courses and subscriptions and coaching and all of that is dead. I'm saying the way you used to sell, the kind of ease it was, the way people from 2018, 2019 are telling you still works. Don't you need to adapt to the market and where it's going. And as we get closer to 2025, competition is going to continue to rise and you are going to need to find a way to stand out from all the other competitors doing what you're doing. You may be doing it best, you may have the best results, but if you aren't standing out, you aren't going to get the clients, you aren't going to get the sales. And I'm sorry, dancing on TikTok or lip singing or doing those little sequences on TikTok or Instagram Reels is not going to make you stand out. You cannot commit your entire strategy to grow your audience on this type of content. As we look into 2025, this does not give the viewer, give the potential client an opportunity to see what value you are going to bring. A 60 second video is not going to do that. People are going to YouTube to research more and more, not only about the topic they're interested in, but to learn from more people to see who's the real deal, who can talk about this that feels like they know what they're talking about. They're not going to gaslight me into thinking they know what they know. I'm going to watch their videos, I'm going to watch multiple videos of theirs to realize how heck yes, this is the person I'm committing to. I know I like her style. I know I like the way she teaches. I know I'm going to get what I need working with her. I know I'm coming off pretty strong here, but trust me, the reason why my business has been sustainable as possible now, I'm not Saying, like, we've been massively successful, but have I made money every single year since I started nine years ago? Absolutely. What is the one thing that I've done every single year to help do that? YouTube. I may be growing at a turtle's pace and I'm okay with that because I'm not okay throwing hundreds of thousands of dollars at ads hoping I get a return on that. I'm also not showing up every single day on Instagram or creating Instagram posts because I like Instagram, but I like it when I feel inspired and motivated. But I do fit time into my schedule to create a YouTube video every week. And this has been the one piece of my business that has allowed this turtle to move from year to year to year. And the good news is, guess who wins in the long run? Turtles. If you don't take time right now to decide to invest in a long form evergreen platform like YouTube, you are going to get left behind. You are also going to open yourself up to even more burnout than what you probably are feeling right now. You're gonna continue to feel overwhelmed, like you can't catch your breath, and utterly exhausted. I don't mean to sit here and convince you of all the great things that YouTube can do and why YouTube is the best platform. I've done that the last couple of weeks here on my channel and you can check out all those videos here, but I do want to tell you the window to start establishing your presence on YouTube and building a content library on YouTube that will work for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, is right now. Seriously, I want you to think a minute. Where do you want to be January 1, 2025, which insanely isn't that far away? Do you want to be up on New Year's Day thinking about the next post or the next reel you got to put out on Instagram or Facebook or TikTok to keep your platform moving. Because if you don't post, your next post will be suppressed or Instagram won't push you to more people. Or do you want to wake up on New Year's Day knowing that your videos, your video library from the last three months of content that you've created has already brought you a sale that morning, has already got you three to four more email subscribers, and you know it's going to continue doing that for you throughout the day? I don't know about you, but I hate starting from scratch every single day thinking, okay, what am I gonna post today on Instagram to get leads or to get a sale. I like waking up every morning knowing I'm already ahead of the game and I hope that's what you're excited about doing as well. If you're ready to feel that way and feel like you're not constantly trying to keep up, let's take YouTube seriously. Honestly, it's not going to be an option in the future.
