Are all of your YouTube settings set up the right way to help you drive more traffic to your channel? I'm going to show you some settings that you need to make sure that you update to help you grow your YouTube channel. Hi, welcome back to Tips with Trena where I help you do YouTube better. Now, in this video, we're kicking off a brand new series called Quick Fix Friday. So in a quick video, I'm going to show you something that you can do to help grow your YouTube channel. So one thing you might not know is there's some settings inside of YouTube that you can tweak to really give YouTube some more information to know when to suggest your channel or your content. There's also some things that you can set up to make your workflow a lot faster. So I'm going to show you how to do those again. It's going to be super quick, something you can do as soon as this video is over. And if you do, let me know that you did that down in the comments. So let's get started. So to get to your advanced settings, you can go to YouTube.com advanced settings or if you are logged into your channel, you can come into your settings and come down here to this little cogwheel in the new Studio Beta. So when you get here in advanced settings, you're going to see your channel keywords. This is really important to have. These are words and phrases that you want YouTube to know your channel is about. These are keywords and phrases that really describe what kind of content that you're talking about. Now, if you're doing it here in the Creator Studio Classic, to separate words or phrases, you'll need to use quotation marks. So see, YouTube tips and tricks is one phrase that I want to use. So I type that in inside of quotations. Now, in the new Studio Beta, if you go to the settings and you go to your channel, you will be able to add these keywords really easy. All you do is type it in and hit enter and you have that keyword there. So that's a lot easier here in the Studio. Studio Beta. Next thing here in Studio Beta is branding. This is where you can add this little subscribe here. You'll see it on my video right now down in the corner, this is where you can add that. So if you don't have one yet, you can. It probably says upload right here. You can upload one. You can decide to do it at the end of the video, the custom start time. I like it at the entire video because All I need to do. All you need to do is hover over that little imagery that you see in the corner and you can subscribe to my channel. Why wouldn't you want to have that? Another thing you can do here in general settings, if you prefer the creator Studio Classic, you can actually default that here in this setting or stay with YouTube Studio beta. I'd suggest staying with beta and working through the kinks for now because that's the direction YouTube's going. Next thing we have here is upload defaults. And trust me, if you aren't doing upload defaults, you are taking so much time doing something you don't need to do. So what you can actually do is add text that you want to be in your video description box in every single video. Actually I a video on this, you can see it down in the description box below. But here the same things that you add in every single video, like your subscribe button, your favorite videos, any of your affiliate links can all go in here to your upload defaults so that every single time you upload, it's all here, you don't have to retype it. One other thing that you should change here is your visibility. So your upload default visibility should be to private. Reason being if it is private, this is going to allow you to scan schedule your YouTube video in the future. If you do unlisted or public, you're not able to schedule it in the future. I like to batch upload so that I have videos going out in the next couple of weeks and scheduling it to stay consistent. But by doing public or unlisted, you are not able to have this feature. Just make sure you have private here in your visibility upload default. Now moving on here to advance. One thing that I learned from Nick Nimmins was this Licensing and rights ownership. Their standard YouTube license and creative common license. If you have creative comments clicked, that means anybody on YouTube can use your content, your YouTube content. So if you want to make sure that nobody's wiping off your content, make sure you have standard YouTube license clicked here. This is where you also can allow comments on your channel. Or actually if you prefer not to have comments on your channel, you can disable comments. You can also hold for inappropriate comments or review. So if you're worried about somebody writing mean things or you're worried what people are going to say about you on video, you, you can actually hold potentially inappropriate comments for review or hold all comments for review. And if you have like a virtual assistant or somebody else on your team, they can review those comments before you. So you don't have to worry about seeing anything mean. Moving here into the community section, you can actually add moderators. So if you have somebody that you want to, you know, moderate your chat for your live, you can add them here. You can also block people and you're going to see who you have blocked here in this section. You can also block words. So if, if people are saying mean things to you using the same types of words all the time, you can actually block these words right here. Now to go to these other settings, we will have to go back to the classic YouTube studio. So the one section that I want you to have clicked here in advance is down here at channel recommendations. Make sure you have allowed my channel to appear in other channel recommendations. Otherwise your videos aren't going to be served up beside other videos and it's just really going to hurt your chance to grow if you're not allowing your channel to appear in other channels recommendations. Here's one other thing that you can, if you feel better about. You can display the number of people who are subscribed to your channel or you can actually not display that. If you're worried about starting a YouTube channel, you already have an established brand. You don't want people to see that you have a small subscriber account. You can actually hide that so people can't see. Once you have all these settings set up properly, let's get your first 1,000 subscribers on your channel. Watch the video that's on your screen right now where I'm going to walk you through exactly what to do to help you get to 1,000 subscribers. I'll see you over there.
