In today's video, I'm going to give you my five tips for getting your business started on YouTube. Hey guys, my name is Trena and welcome to another episode of Just the Tips. If this is your first time here and you want to learn how to use YouTube video in your business strategy, make sure you click the red subscribe button down below so you don't miss anything. If you started a YouTube channel for your business or you're really thinking about starting a YouTube channel for your business, let me know down in the comments below. In fact, leave the link to your YouTube channel if you've started one for your business. And let's get started with Tip number one. Tip number one is to stop focusing on everything being perfect. The perfect background, the perfect camera equipment, the perfect editing. Unfortunately, wanting all these things does nothing for getting you started, building your authority, or growing your business on YouTube. Instead, start focusing on how you can provide value to your ideal viewer. What are they struggling with? What can you help them with? And make your videos soon. Super simple. Simple editing, just you talking to the camera like this. Nothing fancy, but providing high valuable content to your viewer. This is the best way to get started on YouTube. Tip number two make sure your channel is branded. First, make sure you have a channel banner. That's going to be pretty essential to get people to actually subscribe to your channel. Second, make sure you have a channel icon and that's basically your profile picture. So if you are using a picture on your Instagram and your Facebook, just use that same picture here on YouTube. And finally create a video thumbnail template. This way it's going to make it much easier for you to create thumbnails for each of your video. But if it's branded and you have a template, whenever your videos come up in search results, people are going to start to instantly recognize your videos based on the branding you did on your thumbnails. These are all very important branding elements you should have in place. And if you're starting a YouTube channel for your business. Tip number three make sure you fill out the about section on your YouTube channel. So why is this important when people hover over your channel? Whether you're showing up in a search result or your video is showing up in a search result and they hover the mouse over your name, the first 130 characters of your about section show up. So this is your opportunity to pitch them to watch your videos. So make sure you have something there on what they can expect from your channel. So my About Me section says expect videos on Tips, tricks and strategies on how to use YouTube in your business. So make sure you use that about section effectively. Tip number four is to add your opt in as the first link on your social media links. So these links are the links that show up on your channel banner. You can add your Instagram, your Facebook, all of that, but you definitely want to add your opt in as the first link. This is because you can actually write out what it is. So my free YouTube checklist. So when people go to your channel, they see that call to action and they're much more willing to click that. Because you're using YouTube to grow your business, and to grow your business, you need some email subscribers. So this is the best way you can start converting your YouTube viewers into email subscribers. And tip number five is a big one. It's consistency. You need to commit to consistency. You need to commit to uploading one video every week at the minimum. YouTube is not going to reward your content if you aren't being consistent. Posting one video one week, not posting for three weeks, posting four videos the next week, not posting for two weeks is going to do nothing for getting your video ranked or getting your video out in front of your optimal viewer. You need to be consistent to let YouTube know, hey, this creator is creating content, consistent content and bringing people to the platform. So they're going to boost your content as long as you are consistent. One of the tricks that I've been using on my YouTube channel to save me time and to still post twice a week is doing a live broadcast. I don't have to edit this, I don't have to set up the film. I just get on teach and there's a new video on my YouTube channel. So since YouTube is also pushing live content, I get an added boost in rankings since I'm going live. So it's just a quick way to add a new video to your week of uploads by going live. So I repeat again, if you want to see any type of return on investment on your YouTube videos, you need need to be consistent. And finally, this is kind of a little bonus tip for you since you've stayed to the end. Don't get wrapped up in the subscriber numbers and set unrealistic goals for yourself. I know how easy it can be to get wrapped up in the numbers and you see a new business owner start a YouTube channel and they instantly have a thousand subscribers. But you need to take in consideration how many people are on their email list, how many people are following them on social media if they have 5,000 Instagram followers and 5,000 email subscribers. They're obviously going to be able to convert some of those already built following followers over to their YouTube channel. She didn't get these subscribers just by posting one video. She already had a built in audience that was ready to subscribe to her channel. So what does your following look like? Is it smaller? That's okay. You just need to be realistic about the results you're going to have on your channel when you're first starting out. YouTube is still a relatively new platform for entrepreneurs, so you have the opportunity to stand out. You have the opportunity to surpass that business owner that instantly got a thousand subscribers. Subscribers but isn't being consistent or optimizing their videos. As long as you're strategic about your content and your optimization, you have the opportunity to surpass them in subscribers. I know you can do this, and that's exactly why I'm giving you my YouTube channel checklist that gives you 10 steps on how you can ensure your channel is optimized for success.
