Comedian Akaash tells Tyler Wagner about bombing his second open mic night: he ran over time, his jokes died, and he got pulled off stage. The humiliation left him speechless for days, but it taught him about resilience and the gap between improv and stand-up.

And I had great experiences with improv, but then my first like 5-minute open mic night was absolutely horrible. So what was your, uh, first experience like that?
That first time it went well, actually. I bombed my fucking ass off. Oh my God, I went back to the same place, I ran over my time, I like— it wasn't funny, I got pulled off a stage. It was a fucking abject disaster. A bunch of my friends came to see me. It was unreal failure. I couldn't talk for like 2 days afterward. I was a mess.
