Alright everyone, welcome back to another episode of the Business Blast Podcast. I am your host Tyler Wagner. Today I have Anna Malikin with us. She has a PhD in psychology and is the host of the Mindset Zone Podcast and has an active YouTube channel. She specializes in helping business owners implement their big vision. So welcome to the show.
Wonderful to be here.
Awesome.
Grateful to have you here, Ana.
We'll jump into the first one. The first one I have for you is, what is the best story from your life that has an underlying valuable message?
I really have to put there my fight with breast cancer a couple of years ago, because it's one of those situations that we never ask for it, but they happen in life, and we have to give it all. Even knowing that that is not the guarantee of success, but the best chance that we have is to give it all. And I'm very lucky that everything went very well. Now I'm cancer-free for about 2 years, but it's the biggest fight in my life.
Thank you for sharing that. I'm glad to hear that you are cancer-free now. The next one I have for you, Anna, is what is the most valuable piece of information we should know that's within your expertise expertise or industry.
And something that surprises people a lot when I say, when I speak about this, is as a marketing and business coach, I will say that marketing does not get you clients. And yes, people are listening correctly. Marketing does not get you clients. The function of marketing is to create awareness. And it's what we do after that moment that someone becomes aware that we exist and what we have to offer until the moment that they buy from us, that's what really gets us clients. We need to do marketing to create awareness, but it's not enough.
I agree. And what is your best piece of overall business advice? So not necessarily industry specific.
Think as a CEO. You are your chief executive officer. That mindset shift for me was really transformational. I really have to think about my business, even if it's one person business, a small business, you, or even if you are an employee of an organization, but you are your chief executive officer of whatever you have to do.
And if you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would that be?
Don't be afraid to fail because really the path to success is built on learning from past mistakes. Of learning from failures. We really have to be in the action mode and failure is just part of the journey.
And in your opinion, what is the key to happiness?
Live with purpose and enjoy the moment.
And what is the best book that you've read and what was the number one thing you learned from that?
That is always a difficult one because I love reading, I love books. But if I have to put one book up there, it will be Man's Search for Meaning from Viktor Frankl. And what I learned from it is if this man Viktor Frankl could survive a concentration camp and still be positive about humanity in an incredible way that he was, for me, I can learn to be more positive and be more proactive in my life too. There is no excuse.
Yes, I agree. That's what that book kind of did for me as well. When I realized that, I was like, whoa, there's nothing I'm going through that's even close to that. And what is your favorite quote and why?
"We go where our vision is," from Joseph Murphy. And why I like it is short, sweet, and true, and it's easier to remember.
I love it.
Thank you so much for coming on. The last question I have for you before we let you go is where's the best place for people to find and connect with you online?
Will be in my website. That is my name, Ana, A-N-A, Melikian, M-E-L-I-K-I-A-N.com.
Perfect. Thanks again for jumping on.
My pleasure.
