In this Business Blast Podcast episode, host Tyler Wagner interviews Becky Robinson, founder and CEO of Weaving Influence and Hometown Reads. Becky shares a personal marathon story to illustrate the power of focused, consistent effort, emphasizing that perseverance leads to achievement. She explains that selling books is extremely challenging and advises authors to view their book as a vehicle toward larger goals such as building speaking or consulting businesses. Her overarching business advice mirrors the marathon lesson: apply focus and consistency daily. When reflecting on her younger self, she urges slowing down to savor each life stage. Becky identifies gratitude as the cornerstone of happiness, citing Tim Sanders' book Today We Are Rich as a key influence on this mindset. She also highlights a favorite quote from Whitney Johnson—"If it's scary and lonely, then you're probably on the right track"—as a reminder during tough leadership moments. The episode concludes with her online presence: the agency site weavinginfluence.com and her personal brand site beckyrobinson.com. The conversation is interspersed with sponsor messages for Authors Unite and Anchor.

All right everyone, welcome back to another episode of the Business Blast podcast. I'm your host Tyler Wagner, and today I have Becky Robinson with us. She is the founder and CEO of Weaving Influence, which is a digital marketing agency, and founder of Hometown Reads. So welcome to the show, Becky.
Thank you so much, Tyler.
Of course, thanks for joining us, and we will dive in. The first question I have for you, Becky, is what is the best story from your life that has an underlying valuable message?
Sure. So I think finishing my first marathon back in 2014 is a pretty good story. I had always wanted to run a marathon, and having kids and things got in the way of it. And the underlying message that comes through that story is that you can really achieve anything with focused, consistent effort, and the most important thing to do is keep going.
And what is the most valuable piece of information we should know that's within your expertise or industry?
Sure. So we work with authors on marketing books, and the most important thing that authors need to know is that selling books is exceedingly difficult. And so typically the advice I give to authors is to have a bigger picture goal associated with bringing a book to market. So most of the time the authors we work with have a bigger goal in mind, like building their speaking business or driving more consulting opportunities.
Yes, and I could not agree with you more. And the next question I have for you is, what is your best piece of overall business advice, not necessarily industry-specific?
Sure. So I'm going to go back to the marathon story. My best business advice is to always apply focused, consistent effort to your goals. There's nothing that I've found that drives me closer to reaching the outcomes that I have in my life and business than bringing focus and consistency to my work every day.
And if you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would that be?
Sure. I would tell my younger self to slow down and enjoy the moment I'm in rather than wishing myself in a different stage. You know, I have kids who are now teenagers ready to graduate from high school, and it goes by so dang fast. So I would tell my younger self to slow down and enjoy it more.
And in your— it might tie in, but in your opinion, what's the key to happiness?
I think being grateful for what we have in every moment. Whenever life feels hard, I really like to pause and think about the amazing gifts that I have and to celebrate and cherish them.
And what is the best book that you've read and what was the number one thing you learned from that?
Sure. One of my very favorite books is Today We Are Rich by Tim Sanders, and Tim talks about how we can feel rich every day when we have and express gratitude and when we give our lives away to others.
And what is your favorite quote and why?
Sure. Whitney Johnson is an author whose work I love. And in speaking about entrepreneurs, Whitney says, "If it's scary and lonely, then you're probably on the right track." And that's a really important reminder to me when running my businesses becomes difficult or I do feel alone as a leader. I realize that I must be doing something right if that's the experience I'm having.
Yes, I love that. Thank you so much for coming on. The last question I have for you before we let you go is where's the best place for people to find you online?
Sure. Weavinginfluence.com is our company's website, or you can find me on my personal brand website at beckyrobinson.com.
Perfect. Thanks again, Becky. We really appreciate you coming on.
