The five major bestseller lists reward concentrated sales in a narrow window, usually one week. Authors use email marketing to millions of subscribers announcing a limited-time discount, timing other promotions like podcasts to match. The goal is to spike sales fast enough to hit the list.

there's 5 major lists. They all, they're different, but they all work similarly in the sense that you want to orchestrate all your sales in a short period of time. The longest would be a week. The shortest would be 1 day depending on the list. Let's just say it was like Wall Street or New York Times. Besides the audiobook list, it would be a week long and you want to drive as many sales as possible in that week. The way we do it mostly is with email list marketing. That's actually how we get a lot of people on lists is we have email lists of people in the millions that have opted in to be notified when books are discounted, right? And then so you do like a 1-week discount, blast it out to people on email lists and, you know, marketing's limitless. So you could do so many different things, right? I mean, you could do Clubhouse rooms, podcasts prior and have them all land during the same week. It's just our core way is email list marketing.
