Isaac Rau: Proactive SEO Solutions

Isaac Rau left a stable job in 2004 to start Proactive SEO Solutions, a digital marketing firm in LA and Orange County. He credits his father's advice to take risks when you're not 100% certain, and says the real key to profit is market acceptance—how well you present what you're selling. Finding people who deliver work worth their paycheck is harder than it sounds.

All right everyone, welcome back to another episode of the Business Blast podcast. I'm your host Tyler Wagner. Uh, today I have Isaac Rao with us. He runs Proactive SEO Solutions, which is a premier full-service boutique digital marketing firm nestled right in the juncture between Los Angeles and Orange County. They design, develop, and deliver results-oriented advertising strategies that keep their clients forging ahead and future relevant. So welcome to the show, man.
Thank you very much. Thanks for having me on. I appreciate it.
Of course, man. Grateful to have you here. We'll dive right into the first one. The first question I have for you is, what is the best story from your life that has an underlying valuable message?
Yeah, so my father always said big decisions may never be 100%. So sometimes even if it's 75% or 80%, sometimes you gotta roll the dice. So probably the best decision I made business-wise was to leave my comfortable job 15 years ago in 2004 and start my first business. At the time, there was a lot of what-ifs, but I weighed the odds and rolled the dice, and I'm grateful I did.
And what is the most valuable piece of information we should know that's within your expertise or industry?
Just pursuing to constantly pursue to being an innovator in sales and marketing, understanding that all business starts at the point of sale. So market acceptance is the key to profitability, whether it's client acquisition, patient acquisition, product sales, or whatever your business is. Without, without the proper presentation of your services and products, there will be less monetary reward for your time, effort, and expertise.
And what's your best piece of overall business advice, so not necessarily industry-specific?
So as a person who has a lot of people under me performing various tasks, just learning how to accept other people's productivity as adequate to their work assigned. It's, uh, one of the hardest things is finding people that will produce work adequate to the task assigned for the compensation we receive, they receive, because at the end, business is about people.
Yeah, I could not agree with that more. And if you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would that be?
Well, I had a really good friend who, he moved to Germany, and he really liked, really liked that country. So he said, If I could go back 10 years, I would punch myself in the face for not moving to Germany sooner, but I'm not going to go with that one. But I'm going to say maybe I wish I would have sacrificed more trivial activities before for pursuits of things that were more meaningful.
And in your opinion, what is the key to happiness?
Well, I mean, that's a huge question. But I'll pertain it more to business. I'm sorry, I'll pertain it more to social, and that is one aspect happiness is, it's not only having amazing people around you socially, but, you know, having common en to do together. So what is your en? What do you like to en? Golfing, basketball playing, mountain climbing, running, Soccer playing, concert going, rocket science-ing, having things, having a common en with people, I think is huge. Not only being around good people, but having common things to do together, because then what else are you going to do together when you meet up?
Yeah, man, I agree.
And but it, it also parlays into business too, because, you know, as they say back in the '60s, '70s, golfing was huge for networking. Basketball playing, I think, is really big now in LA for networking.
Yeah, no, sports definitely are. And I think even golfing still is today. That's why I need to get better at that. Nobody likes golfing with me. They just let me drive the cart. It's pathetic, but it's fine. The next one I have for you is, what is the best book that you've read and what was the number one thing you learned from it?
So I read this biography when I was in 10th grade. It was by Booker T. Washington. It always kind of stuck with me, basically how hard, you know, he had to work to be respected, how perfect he had to be to avoid punishment. I mean, it was someone born into slavery who then he founded Tuskegee University and just how poised he was throughout the entire experience, it kind of always stuck with me and made me think I can't really ever have excuses for not performing if he could perform with what he was going through.
Yeah, man. Dude, thank you so much for coming on. The last one I have for you before we let you go is where's the best place for people to find you online?
Well, we have personal contact for your digital results. So you can call 310- 660-7606. Also visit proactiveseosolutions.com. So we're, we're big enough that we can get projects done quickly and efficiently. We're also small enough where we can have that personal contact. So like I said, the phone number, 310-660-7606.
Perfect, man. Thanks again for jumping on.
