In this brief interview, Isaiah Shields introduces himself and explains the ambitious walk he is undertaking across the United States. He began his journey from his driveway in Provo, Utah, walking westward to the westernmost point at Cape Alava, Washington—a trek of roughly 1,500 miles that took about three months. After reaching the western tip in August, he turned around and embarked on a meandering eastward route toward the easternmost point at West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Maine. Along the way he has traversed a varied path that includes Montana, Texas, Florida, and the Atlantic seaboard, illustrating both the scale and the non‑linear nature of his cross‑country trek.
