Keeping Your Social Media Consistent | The Tyler Wagner Show - Holly Valentine

Holly Valentine built a creator business across 15+ platforms with 1.7 million Instagram followers. She treats each platform as a sales funnel feeding OnlyFans, her main income source, and charges brands for promotional spots based on what she'd make posting her own content instead. Her longer goal: bridge creators and mainstream media by showing brands the marketing skills creators already have.

All right everyone, back to another episode. Today we have Holly Valentine. Welcome to the show.
Hey guys, hey Tyler, thank you so much for having me. I'm super stoked to be here.
Of course, I'm pumped to have you on. We were just having an awesome chat before we hit record and I was like We gotta hit record now because we're dropping some knowledge.
Yeah, we're dropping some, some major knowledge.
Yes. Dropping some bombs.
Yes, exactly. So maybe we should circle back a little bit and talk kind of about consistency with social media and how you can literally live your own personal niche dream out and still blow up no matter how unique you are, and you'll find enough people to follow you on your journey.
100%. Yeah. There's a saying out there. It's like, if you like something, then there's probably at least one other person out there that likes it too.
But yeah, I know it's true.
Tell us, tell us your background just so people know a little bit more about you and what you do.
Okay. I've got an airplane, so I'm trying to like not be distracted.
Yeah. By the way, we can't hear it, so it's all good.
Amazing. Perfect. So my background is in social media. I've been a content creator full-time professionally for the past 5 or 6 years. I don't even like know yet. I should probably look back and see how long it's been. But before that, I was doing marketing. It was kind of at the dawn of social media when no one really knew what was going on. And then I met a bunch of content creators and was like, oh wow, I wonder how they make money. And so I started my journey doing live streaming, hated it, but was definitely a great learning experience for like, hey, there's demographics of people out there. Hey, there's certain time things that matter on different platforms. Like, wow, these are important things to know. And then going from there, it was just so much, it was so much easier to find out exactly how I wanted to like run the Holly Show. And it made it that much easier to be consistent every day with it.
So, so one of the biggest things I want to point out what you just said is like, it's about trial and error. Like, that's what I really— and I think most people, they never start because they're trying to start the perfect thing first.
That's right.
You know what I mean? Like, you started out with like cam stuff, but like, how did you know if you would like it or not until you do it? Like, you have to try.
Like, at the time everyone was calling it like the vernacular for like being an internet model as a whole was being a cam model. So I just literally Googled it. And I was like, OK, I guess that this is what it is. I want to try this. So I'm going to Google it. And I did it. And much like that experience, now I'm actually moving. So I started investing into crypto recently with some of my— putting some of my OnlyFans money towards crypto. And it's actually been working out really well. But again, it was one of those things where it's like, I don't really know what I'm doing. And I'm going to just have to like eventually put some money in to learn, you know what I mean?
Like, well, yeah, you know, so there's, um, I guess this is the episode where I keep bringing up quotes for some reason, but, um, that's— somebody told me that's why they call it pay attention, right? So if you put into something, like, if you pay, then you become attentive towards it, right? So, you know, you know, if you, if you don't have any money in crypto, then you're not going to watch the market probably because you're like, what do you care? But once you put a little— yeah, yeah, then you're like hyper, you start learning. And it's so— if you ever want to actually get involved in something, put a little skin in the game, like take a little risk, and then you will figure it out.
So, right. And also on that note, like even with doing podcasts and doing kind of like the internet, the internet thing, you know what I mean? The whole— I found TikTok to be such a humbling experience for me because I had been doing my internet dance a certain way for like so long. And then I get on TikTok and I'm like, I don't even know how this algorithm works. I don't want to do it. And I almost honestly missed the boat on it. You know what I mean? Like, I really could have just like skated my way like off the TikTok thing. And I'm really glad I did it.
No, 100%. So what's your— your Instagram and TikTok, are those your two kind of biggest platforms? Or where else do you Yeah, so those are definitely my two biggest platforms.
I'm also growing my Twitter. Um, as you probably have experienced, there's like so many things that come up throughout, you know, the course of you doing this. So I— you go through accounts. I used to have a Twitter that had 44,000 and now— and I lost it because it got hacked. And then I decided that instead— I know— and then I decided that instead of trying to get it back, I would probably get better ROI on just making an account from zero.
Got it.
And so it's like a bunch of things like that where you have to, like, really put aside your ego, you know what I mean? To be like, hey, is this actually, like, the best decision for me? You know what I mean? To follow this path versus this path. And I'm actually really happy because starting accounts from zero is, like, really motivating. And I fell out of touch with that for a while because my Instagram has, like, 1.7 million. And it's like, I kind of, like, miss the rush of, like, Oh my God, I just got to $10K on something again.
Like, no, no, I, I literally, I, I was, uh, on someone else's podcast right before this and I was telling them how like I, I keep trying to start all these other businesses. And then what happens is I get that first little like rush of like a little success, but then it's, my heart's not really in it. So I just let it go. So I've now decided to just focus on my core business, but It's funny where it's, you know, again, 1.7 million, you're so detached, right? Yeah, like what it was like in the beginning.
I'm still like, at that point it becomes like honestly a huge statistics game, you know what I mean? And it's hard to like individually be in touch with people the way that you used to be. And I kind of like, and especially too because I'm growing my new, um, my new account, Victor— my new account is @victoria. Is.holly, and I'm growing it. Yep. And I'm growing it with different content, which means I'm probably going to attract different followers. And so I'm actually really excited to see like how those two groups of people, between the people who follow me on Holly and the people who follow me there, like where, like what the differences are.
Yeah, that'll be interesting. Um, So let me ask you this though, because 1.7 million, I mean, that's huge. So how did you— if you were to help someone else, I think that's kind of what your consulting is like. How did you— when did you notice that it was growing? And then how did you replicate to like keep it to get to that point?
So I think it's super important to say like I didn't just make it up on my own. Yeah, you know what I mean? Like a lot of people think like that the girls, that the popular girls on these platforms are just like out there living their best life and people just love watching them. But honestly, like, most people who have— who are like doing it full-time, like, we know exactly what content we're supposed to be creating. We know on a weekly basis those content needs, you know what I mean? So it's definitely— and I got a lot of help from people. Like, I genuinely asked people who were doing this, like, hey, can you help me? Like, how do you do this? How do you do this? And really just took that kind of like, I want to learn how to do this approach. And, and then another thing that people don't really realize is that you have to invest money back into whatever your business is. If your business is, you know, advertise like, like partial advertising, partial OnlyFans like mine, then you're consistently needing to get new people in your door, you know what I mean? So In order to do that, sometimes you have to buy advertising for yourself. You know what I mean? And a lot of girls, not even girls, but a lot of people like don't want to do that because they think they shouldn't have to. But in reality, everyone's doing that. Like that's the— you have to invest back in.
100%. Yeah. And if you really believe in it, then— but yeah, I know it's because it feels risky in a sense, right? You're like, I don't know if I'm going to get this money back. But ultimately that's how you grow.
And by the way, sometimes you don't. Like, I've definitely, like, bought terrible promo that didn't do anything for me, and it was a total waste of, like, whatever money I spent on it. But then I've also had promo do really well and be like, oh my gosh, I want to do this every day. You know what I mean? So it's— yeah.
And you wouldn't discover it though if you didn't go through, like, the good ones and the bad ones. So that— it's, it's, it's all about taking action at the end of the day. And most people just, they keep they keep being indecisive. Like, they're thinking, should I do it? Should I not? It's like, well, you got to go through some bad promo to get the good promo. Like, that's right.
And the other thing too that people like often don't take into consideration is these apps that you're using aren't showing you to 100% of your audience anyway. Oh no, you know what I mean? So it's like you do have to kind of play the game a little bit of like, hey, How do I override the fact that these apps are trying to suppress my content from blowing up? They probably want money from me. You know what I mean? Like, you know what I mean? It's stuff like that. Or hey, if you, for example, like I have 1.7 million. Granted, I can do shout out for shout out for free. There's a lot of free things you can do once you gain that social leverage because you can trade. However, if I come across a girl who has 20 million followers, she doesn't care. About my 1.7. You know, 1.7 is nothing to her. So it's like, it's one of those things where you have to know what you bring to the table and you have to be respectful and just be like opening a conversation because I get so many, so many people hitting me up being like, please post me, please post me. And it's like, hey, it doesn't work like that. No, no.
Yeah, no, for sure. And I love that you said that you like asked for help because I think that's a big issue too. Like most people are afraid to like ask for help. But yeah, I always tell people, you know, success is different for everyone. But I think one of the things, once you're successful, is you like to give back, right? So that $20 million girl, let's say, you know, whether she— she might say no to like promoing you, but what she might say yes to is maybe like a 20-minute call to like help you grow, just out of like— maybe not all of them, but like it's worth an ask.
Well, by promo, what I mean— so promo is like the, the street word for advertising. You know what I mean?
Exactly.
So it's— yeah. So chances are, like, she will say yes if you approach her as a customer.
Yes. You know what I mean?
Like, you just, you just have to know what her position is, much like how when you go into a sales situation, you know what your position is. If you're going in as a buyer or as somebody with less to offer, then you have to know kind of like, hey, it's very possible that she might want something. More than just me posting her. I need to be personally prepared for that, you know what I mean? Like, yeah.
Well, let me ask you, just because like my main business is we do like book, uh, we do book publishing and book marketing. So say with somebody like yourself, like 1.7 million, um, or if you don't want to use yourself, anybody, like how do you calculate— say if one client wanted to promote their book, like wanted you to post their book Like, what— how would you calculate charging for that?
Um, so that totally depends on what business model you have going on. For me personally, I— and I'm very transparent about this on all of my stuff— OnlyFans makes the most— it's my biggest revenue stream. And so the way I calculate the cost of selling promo is I, I take into consideration the amount of money that I make if I'm just doing my own thing that day. and then I add a little bit of that, a little bit to that to be like, okay, and to get me interested in not doing my own thing today, you're gonna pay a little bit of a premium. You know what I mean? So my main business isn't selling ads, but that is how I calculate my ad structure. Like how much money am I missing out on if I post you?
That makes so much sense. Yeah, that makes complete sense.
Yeah.
Um, do you know though, So I guess, so that's how you calculate. Is there a different way to calculate though? Like per, like per minute, like by impressions or something like that? You know how you like pay for ads or do you think that's similar?
Yeah, but the problem, honestly, I have, you need to be using systems. So when, so I've bought ads actually in promo as a business before, like I've hit up influencers, not as me, but as the business and been like, hey, what are your promo rates? What are your promo rates? Um, my advice is just hit up 20 people in your niche and see how much all of them charge, and then you get an average.
Love it.
Yeah, like, that's like, that's what I do if I'm a buyer. If I'm a seller, I'm gonna try to make as much money off of you as I can, but if I'm buying, I'm gonna try to get a really good deal. So it's like, and knowing that also with businesses, when they hit me up, it's kind of like I know that their objective is to get me to do it for free, basically, if they could. You know what I mean? Because every business is trying to— you know, and so I do take into consideration sometimes like, hey, is this a brand that I think is going to make me look good if I post them? Do I want to have them on my resume? You know what I mean? Like, so you do also consider things like that too.
So, uh, so you said OnlyFans is like your number one revenue source. So like, what does— I get— so if it is, I'm assuming that you maybe spend most of your time there. Like, what's a typical day or week look like for you as far as like the business It goes—
I, uh, work on cons. So the thing to remember is it's not just OnlyFans, it's like 15 other platforms plus OnlyFans.
Okay, got it.
You know what I mean? So it's definitely like— because you have— if you think about a sales funnel, OnlyFans is the opening to your paywall, and then all of your socials funnel into that. You know what I mean? So the more funnels, the more streams you have, basically, in theory, the bigger your OnlyFans revenue will be. So that managing, satisfying 15 platforms a day or whatever, or even with girls who only have 5, you know what I mean? Like 5 platforms every day is a lot of platforms. And so, um, really, like, I try this year, actually, I just started doing it. I've been trying to make my schedule more like scheduled out and less kind of like, okay, today's the TikTok day, today's the video day, today is an OnlyFans day. Like, it's like, no, I want to know exactly what I'm doing today because I'm going crazy making content, you know what I mean?
For sure. Yeah, you know, you got to do that to like actually follow the plan, right?
Because if not, just human nature is like, eh, well, also, how do you track random content? Like, how do you track the success of content that doesn't follow a pattern at all? You know, and that is really showing you a lot of numbers other than sales. You know what I mean? Like, it's kind of like OnlyFans is— OnlyFans statistics are really limited. So you have to— yeah, so you have to manually do any market research you want to do. You know what I mean? Like, you have to literally just like Hey, did you like this? What would you like to see from us next time? You know what I mean? But like, obviously way sexier if it's OnlyFans.
But like, you know, like, wait, let me ask because I'm curious because I thought I heard something on OnlyFans recently where they were like slowing down or stopping like any sort of like sexual content. Is that true or am I making this up? I might be making—
you're not making that up. It's definitely been a rumor around.
I—
there's been a lot of, like, talk that maybe they want to go public and that they have to, like, clean up their image as a platform to do that, or that they won't be able to get funding if they don't get rid of that. The thing though is it's probably like— I, I've never looked at their numbers. I have to imagine it's at least 80% of their revenue.
Yeah, that's—
you know what I mean? Like, I have to imagine that adult content is at least 80% of their revenue. So I don't know exactly how they're gonna, like, do that, you know?
Because I've seen there's another story out there about, um, I think it's Blac Chyna or something. Like, I saw there was some article that went viral about her. She was making like, I don't know, something crazy. It was like $10 million, um, on OnlyFans or something like that. And I was like, well, I mean, what, what is she posting? You know what I mean? Like, I don't— you know, maybe, maybe it's not probably posting nudes.
Like, Yeah, yeah. I'm like, I don't know. People are in this delusion because there's— and I'm sorry, I just have to flat out say this. There's so many people who run around and lie about the kind of content that they do on OnlyFans. And I just want the general public to know that 80% of people are getting naked and more. So don't kid yourself. No, for sure.
That's what I would think. What else would you point to? It's not 100%.
If not 100%. Yeah.
I mean, if not, just put it on Twitter. You know what I mean?
I mean, let's face it. Like, we can hang up on the moral dilemma about getting naked publicly or not. But the reality is there is a lot of competition on the internet to show yourself naked nowadays.
You know what I mean? There is? Yeah, no, you're right. And I actually— I'm a believer that I think it should be up to the individual personally. Like, I think—
yeah, I don't know.
Like, whatever you want to do, I think is fine. So, and yeah, I mean, Twitter, it's like not even— there's not even a paywall and they allow that stuff like publicly.
So I mean, Reddit, Tumblr. I mean, the main thing, like, it can either be a social media platform that you really just have to decide what your business model is. And then once you know what your business model is, if you work on it all the time, it'll be successful. And then not to mention too, like, it's okay to like invest in certain things. Like, I know a lot of people— I'm not a big group shoot person because I just am not the most like— I'm not my best self in large group shoot environments. But, um, but however, I did go to all of those things when I first started modeling, and I was nice to everybody. And it was really, even though it was really socially like borderline impossible for me to be there, I still did it. And I put in my hours like that. And so it's like, yeah, you might not want to do nude content. That's not for everybody. But like, you will have to be nice to people in any job that you have that you don't necessarily want to be nice to. And I think that it's really important, not just for like OnlyFans girls, but like gig economy people, you know what I mean? To know like, hey, independent contractor, you might not have a boss, but you still can't be an asshole, you know?
I agree.
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's almost like that thing of like driving a car, like, because when you're like working from home and you're not like physically with the person, there's like, there's like a wall, right? So you feel like you can act a certain way, right? In a car, it's the same way. Like, you're like, screw you. Like, but it's like Kinda, that's fine. But like, you know, but on the internet, it's actually even worse because that person knows who you are.
Well, the main thing is too, like, there's definitely like a weird prison mentality of internet people where it's kind of like, yo, you want my followers? What are you gonna do for me? You know what I mean? Like, you know what I mean? Like, and it's like, and, but the weird thing is that then you have, now there's so many platforms So it's like sometimes girls are famous on platforms and I have no idea who they are and I don't care and I don't really want their followers from whatever platform they're using. And then they're like walking it, you know what I mean? It's like there's— that's why I say the competition thing. There's so many of us now. Yeah, you know what I mean? And I just feel like in the future there needs to be like some sort of like, I don't know, like community internet person thing. I think that would be really cool.
No, I feel you. So let me ask you, uh, this— what's— what are you planning on, like, what's next, or what's your overall vision or goal, uh, for yourself, like, that you're trying to— like, is it to keep growing your Instagram, your OnlyFans, or like overall trying to accomplish, I guess?
So I know this is gonna sound super, super weird, but I'm actually I want to try to step more into mainstream media a little bit and kind of almost act as a, um, because I think that as we go forward in the future, mainstream media and social media are just going to blend more and more together, and there's no one that really knows how to like facilitate that yet, you know what I mean? And I personally really want to be a part of that because I I believe that especially for like Gen Z and under, like, we are their celebrities. They don't care about movies. I personally don't watch movies. Yeah, you know what I mean? Like, I consume social media content mainly. And so it's one of the things. Yeah. And so I think that cat's out of the bag. I think that there needs to be some organization for it, you know what I mean, without kind of like stepping on people's toes. And I'm just really excited to be part of that and work with com— and, and also help bridge the gap between the people who don't even know how much they know how to do. Like, so for example, like, all these OnlyFans girls really know e-commerce, like, really well. They just don't know that they do.
Yeah, good point.
And it's one of those things where I really just want to, like, teach the— because I come from like a more like corporate environment, like before doing OnlyFans. And so I know like what they call what we do, like how to like professionalize the way it sounds, you know what I mean? And all these— and not these girls, but like all the people of the internet, the ones who like have put in their hours and taught themselves basically super advanced marketing I feel like they just almost need like a liaison between them and like companies.
Yes. Yeah, that makes sense. I totally get what you're saying. That's really interesting. I think you should do that because I don't think there's— I don't think— not only is it good, but there's really not much competition, which—
no competition. Yeah.
Interesting. Um, well, cool. So I think in the future maybe we'll do a part 2 But, um, this was part 2 in Miami. Yeah, we'll do it live. Yeah, let us know when you're here and we'll do it live. That would be cool.
Yeah, that'd be great.
Yeah, we're— that— we got kind of like— you can see the mic back there, maybe like right over there. So we actually have all the equipment, so to do it in person, um, that's awesome. So yeah, let us know that. And then, uh, just last thing before we sign off, uh, let people know where to find you, like social media and stuff like that. Where can they stay in touch?
Okay, so you can keep up with me. My main profile on Instagram is @holly.treats, Holly Treats. And then my TikTok is @actuallyhollyv.
Perfect.
And, uh, and from those two things you can find everything.
Yeah, that's the funnel. Um, if you end up there, I'll see you on my OnlyFans.
I'll see you on my Twitter. I'll see you everywhere. Else, but just—
I love it. Oh man. So, uh, but thank you again for coming on. I appreciate it.
Thank you for having me, Tyler, and I'm really, really stoked for part 2 in Miami.
