Kyle Reidhead: Online Health Coach | The Business Blast Podcast #886

In this episode of the Business Blast Podcast, host Tyler Wagner interviews Kyle Reedhead, an online health coach based in Bali who helps busy professionals improve weight, performance, and overall well‑being. The conversation begins with Kyle sharing a personal story about embracing the unknown, highlighting how taking calculated risks and following his gut led him from a modest academic background to a career in sales and eventually to health coaching in Bali. He then outlines the core premise that humans have fundamental requirements—real food, movement, and adequate sleep—and that neglecting these basics is the first biohack to address. Kyle recommends practical biohacks such as regular sauna sessions and cold showers, explaining their benefits for stress tolerance, hormone production, mood, and cognitive function. The discussion shifts to business advice, where Kyle emphasizes a "just do it" mentality: launch, iterate, and learn from mistakes rather than over‑planning. He offers personal wisdom for his younger self—stay present, enjoy life, and embrace challenges. When asked about happiness, Kyle stresses finding and pursuing a passion daily, arguing that purpose drives fulfillment. He cites Jeff Olson’s The Slight Edge as his favorite book, summarizing its message that small, consistent positive choices compound into significant life improvements. Kyle’s favorite quote is about living a life of purpose, reinforcing his theme of intentional action. Finally, he provides his online contact points: Instagram @healthsimple_, the Health Simple Radio podcast, and his website healthsimpleinfo.com for coaching services. The episode blends health biohacking tips, entrepreneurial mindset, and personal philosophy.

All right everyone, welcome back to another episode of the Business Blast podcast. I'm your host Tyler Wagner. Today I have Kyle Reedhead all the way from Bali, Indonesia, and he is an online health coach that helps busy business professionals lose weight and improve performance in the workplace. He focuses on making health a priority and using biohacking techniques to improve productivity, creativity, and longevity. So welcome to the show, man.
Thank you. I'm excited to be here. Nice and early here in Bali.
Yes. Pumped to have you on. So I definitely— we gotta touch on these biohacking techniques at some point during the interview, but we'll start with the first one. What is the best story from your life that has an underlying valuable message?
Yeah, good question. I think for me it's just kind of, you know, embracing the unknown. So this is something I've done for quite some time now in my life, and, you know, it's worked out, I think, really well for me. And so, you know, when I was younger, I was not a smart student. I didn't, you know, I didn't think most people wouldn't think that I was going to go anywhere or do anything all that great. And then I kind of, you know, realized that I needed to turn things around and kind of, you know, get in the right direction. And the way that I did that was kind of embracing the unknown. You know, I had no idea what I wanted to do, but I went to school for something I enjoyed, which was health and fitness. And that continued me to university, which again, no idea what I wanted to do with it, but I just enjoyed it. Then I started a good career in sales and something that I loved, you know, ended up here in Bali. So I just, I keep doing these things that I'm not really sure, you know, what's going to come of it. But, you know, it seems to me that it's something that I'm going to enjoy and, you know, I'm taking a risk, but it's a calculated risk and, you know, it tends to continue to work out for years and years. So I think, you know, just kind of embracing the unknown and just following your gut.
And then what is the most valuable piece of information we should know that's within your expertise or industry? And if you can also touch on at least one biohacking technique.
Yeah. So as a health coach, you know, regardless of if I'm working with a business professional or a professional athlete or, you know, just someone who wants to lose weight, I think the big thing to understand is that we're all humans first, right? right? So whether you want to be a CEO, you want to be a pro athlete, a scientist, a lawyer, whatever it is, you're human and humans have specific requirements to function properly. And, you know, unfortunately many of us in today's world, we don't even meet those basic fundamental requirements, you know, and that can be anything from, you know, just eating human food. So real food, it can be, you know, movement where we're meant to move and it doesn't necessarily mean exercise or going to the gym, but at least moving around like a human should. It could be sleep. We require sleep, yet most of us get maybe 6 hours if we're lucky. There's all these foundational components of just being a healthy human. That's your first biohack right there. If that's something you're not doing and you're struggling with energy levels or you got brain fog every day or any of this kind of stuff, you're not performing at your optimal level. I always just start with— those fundamental, you know, human requirements. So that's kind of where I start. If you want a good biohack, you know, there's, there's so many different ones out there. One of my favorite is the sauna or cold shower. So getting in a sauna or in a cold shower in the morning is a great way to sort of increase your tolerability to manage stress. It increases testosterone and growth hormone and your endorphins. So it sets you up into this, like, gives you, puts you into a really good mood. It helps with your ability for your brain to function and, you know, cognitively perform better. And it helps kind of build muscle, stay lean. There's, there's so many benefits to a sauna. So getting in and, you know, going to the point of where, you know, you're no longer comfortable in there, it just creates this, this stimulus for your body to adapt and become more resilient and stronger. So I love it. Same with cold shower, same sort of thing. And, you know, if you start your day off with a cold shower, well, you're probably not going to go through something more stressful than that. So it's really going to set you up for a good day.
Yeah, that's awesome. So I do a run every morning, and then I do do the sauna most mornings, and I tried the cold shower thing, man, but I just— oh, it's just so painful, dude.
It's a mental battle for sure.
It is. Yeah, so I— but I think if you can get through it, man, I'm sure it's great for you.
Oh, it's phenomenal. I'd recommend doing it after the sauna because then it's a little bit easier. If you go in, you know, before you've gotten into the sauna sauna or you're just kind of woken up and you get into a cold shower, it can be really difficult. That takes practice. But coming out of a shower, getting into a— or sorry, coming out of a sauna and then getting into a cold shower, it's much easier.
So my next one for you is, what's your best piece of overall business advice? So not necessarily industry specific.
So I would say for this, it's to just do it. You know, Nike really nailed this one on the head, you know, years ago. But, you know, for me with, with my business and everything that I've done, I don't need to figure everything out before I do something or dive into something. You just do it and then figure it out from there. Fail at it, make mistakes, and kind of figure out what you need to improve on. Since I've started my business and everything that I've been doing, I've had so many people talk to me about, "Okay, should I build this website? Should I change this? Should I do this?" I always just say, "Look, just do it and then you'll figure it out." People will tell you if it's good or if it's not good. If it's not working, then change it. But, you know, the most important thing is get out there and start it and just jump into it and then you'll figure it out as you go. Mm-hmm.
Couldn't agree more. And then if you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would that be?
Yeah, that's a good, that's a good question. I think it would be just to, to be in the now, in the present, and enjoy, enjoy life. You know, you never, you never know how long life's going to be. It could be short. You never know who's going to be in your life or what's going to happen. So if you live your life kind of scared and in fear and, you know, stressed about every little thing that happens, which I mean, I went through a phase where I was quite stressed quite often and it's not fun. So if you can just learn to, you know, embrace the challenges that are happening in your life and the events that are happening in the situation that you're in and just enjoy it and just be present in it, then life is just going to be so much better for you. And, you know, So whether you end up being this amazingly successful human or not, at least you still kind of enjoyed life throughout.
And then, um, so that perfectly ties in with my next one. My next one is, in your opinion, what is the key to happiness?
Yeah. So first of all, that definitely, uh, but you know, second I think is to just find something that you're passionate about or something that you enjoy and really dive into it and make that what you do every single day. There's so many people out there that are, you know, that even that I work with that are, you know, doing jobs that they just don't like. They hate getting up in the morning to do it, and it's 8 hours, 9 hours of their day, you know, which is a lot of the day that they're awake, more than half of the day that they're awake. So, you know, why go through life if you hate what you're doing every single day? It doesn't make sense. So if you can just find whatever it is that you're interested in, and maybe that's being a parent, maybe that's You know, a sport, maybe that's sales, maybe it is a job, who knows. But whatever that is, you know, find what you like and just dive into it. Get really good at it, get super interested in it, and you'll, you'll love waking up every morning and doing what you do. And I think that makes a huge difference in life.
And then, what is the best book that you've read and what's the number one thing you learned from that?
Yeah, good question. I love reading. Uh, I've probably got two, but The, I'd say the main one is The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson. Basically this book kind of talks on every aspect of life, whether it's financial, health, you know, your career, whatever it is, and kind of breaks it down into your small little choices that you make every single day and talks about how important those are because those small choices that you make are what create, you know, what you accomplish and what you do and who you are. So it's really focusing on every little decision that you make. And, and, you know, if there's no in-between, so you're either choosing a positive direction or a negative direction. And when you choose that one positive direction, maybe that's eating a salad or, you know, maybe it's putting a dollar away for savings, you know, that builds momentum. And the more you make that positive decision, the easier it is for you to make that positive decision moving forward. Um, so, you know, I really like to dial it in on the day and just kind of focus on each decision I'm making and try to build that momentum to send me in the, in the right direction.
And then, uh, what is your favorite quote and why?
Yeah, quote, um, I'd say right now it's probably, uh, a life of purpose. Hold on, let me think of what this actually is now. Uh, the purpose of life is living a life of purpose. And, you know, this kind of goes back to what I said of, of sort of, you know, finding something that you're interested in and something you're doing, but You know, if you get up every day and you're working towards something that, you know, you want to achieve and you want to accomplish, whether that's, you know, having goals or, you know, striving towards something, and, you know, I think that allows you to just be— feel fulfilled and feel happy and kind of enjoy what you're doing. And so I really like that quote.
Well, listen, man, thank you so much for coming on. The last one I got for you before I let you start your day over there is, where's the best place for our listeners to find and/or connect with you online? Online?
Yeah, so I've got a few spots. Instagram is probably where I hang out the most. So my Instagram is @healthsimple_. And if you click on the tab health coaching, you'll see kind of everything that I do there. But yeah, that's— those are probably the 3 best spots for me.
