She's an author and coach, so welcome to the show.
Thank you, Tyler, appreciate that.
Of course, thanks for joining us, and we'll dive in. The first question that I have for you is, what's the best story from your life that has an underlying valuable message?
The short story is that I originally started my career in communications, it. It was wonderful and exciting. However, I was miserable because I really wasn't using my gifts, which mainly surrounding, which are mainly surrounding, you know, helping and coaching people. As a result, I was miserable. When I figured out how to incorporate my gifts into my daily line of work, I was less miserable. The lesson overall is to seek and understand the gifts inside of you. That is the key to being fulfilled.
I love that. And what's the most valuable piece of information we should know that's within your expertise or industry?
Okay. As a coach, people often confuse them with counselors. A counselor is in your life to resolve a specific problem. A coach is there to provide you with the keys to unlock the answer that that already resides within you.
And what's your best piece of overall business advice, not necessarily industry-specific?
Okay, never forget to connect as a human. In the age of social connectivity, we seem to be going backwards in terms of relating to each other on a human scale. Use the appropriate communication medium for the situation. Most of the time, a phone call is better than an email. I would like to see us connect better as human beings.
And if you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would that be?
Get a vision. Stop reacting to life and do not go after the money. Go after what makes your heart sing. The money will follow.
And in your opinion, it might tie in, but in your opinion, what's the key to happiness?
It does tie in, but I would say the key to happiness is to have a vision for your life and to enjoy the journey as you seek to fulfill your vision.
And what's the best book that you've read and what was the number one thing you learned from that?
The best book is called The Millionaire Mind. Rich people believe that they have a hand in creating their own life. Poor people believe that life happens to them. And this is not just rich people with money. This is rich people who are rich in thought. And poor people who are poor in thought. It has nothing really to do with money, but everything to do with the mindset that a person has.
And what's your favorite quote and why?
When someone shows you who they really are, believe them the first time, by Maya Angelou. And it's my favorite quote because it has resonated true throughout my life. I mean, we're supposed to give people You know, chances, but we need to continue to understand that people are at the core who they are.
Thank you so much for coming on. We really appreciate it. And the last question I have for you before we let you go is where's the best place for people to find you online?
There are several great ways to find me online. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Periscope, and Twitter, all with a variant of my name, Laquetta Holyfield-Glaize. So I'm out there. Just reach out to me. I love to, you know, connect.
Awesome. Sounds great. Thanks again for coming on. We really appreciate it.
