¡Hola!
Alright everyone, welcome back to another episode of the Business Blast Podcast. I'm your host Tyler Wagner. Today I have Melinda Parrish with us. She's a plus-size model. Welcome to the show, Melinda.
Thank you.
Of course, thanks for joining us, and we'll dive in. The first question I have for you is, what's the best story from your life that has an underlying valuable message?
Sure. Well, I guess like one of the formative moments in my life that I've referenced a lot kind of in my journey as a model and a woman happened a few days before my wedding where I had an epiphany that I now refer to as my bathtub moment about my body and the ways that I had kind of been letting how I saw my body limit how much success and fulfillment I was having in my life.
And what's the most valuable piece of information we should know that's within your expertise or industry?
Well, definitely not to let your body or your feelings about your body limit who you are and what you want to be and what you want to do in this world or in business.
And what's your best piece of overall business advice, not necessarily industry-specific?
Sure. I think the most important thing is always to be your absolute most authentic self. Anytime you try to hide or like apologize for who you are, I think it shows up in your work and it can affect the level of success you're able to achieve.
And if you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would that be?
Start sooner.
And in your opinion, what's the key to happiness?
I think giving yourself permission to be yourself and do all the things you want to do.
And what's the best book that you've read? And what was the number one thing you learned from that?
It is The Power of— I'm sorry, Daring Greatly, which relates to Brené Brown's TED Talk on the same topic. And that's the power of vulnerability.
Gotcha. Okay. And what's your favorite quote and why?
It's a long quote. I probably won't read the whole thing, but The Man in the Arena by Theodore Roosevelt.
Yes. Yep. That's been mentioned a few times. Very good quote. And yes, it is pretty long.
Yeah.
Well, awesome. Listen, thank you so much for coming on. The last question I have for you before we let you go is where's the best place for people to find you online?
You can find me on Instagram @melparishplus. Or just go to my website, MelParish.com, and that has pretty much all the ways to find me.
Awesome. Sounds great. Thanks again for hopping on.
Yeah, thank you, Tyler Wagner.
