All right everyone, welcome back to the Business Blast podcast. Today I have a very special guest named Michael Robbins. He is an abundance revealer, and the first question I have for you, Michael, is what's the best story from your life that has an underlying valuable message?
Well, I was in college for 10 years going for my PhD, and I turned in my dissertation on the function of the night in the Canterbury Tales. And when they told me, yeah, I wasn't done since I've been burning the candle at both ends, I was amazed to hear I'm done. And I couldn't— it was crazy, but I walked away from 10 years of work just inches away from the goal. And I lived on the road for 10 years or 12 years. Without working. And it was the message that follow your heart. I found freedom. And it was the greatest, it was the greatest thing.
And what's the most valuable piece of information we should know that's within your expertise or industry?
Well, follow your heart again. And Also know who you are, and that's where I'll get into more deeply with the questions is self-knowledge.
So, and then leading into this one as well is what's your best piece of overall business advice?
Know yourself. Most people do not. The majority of the world does not know that there's a deeper self, which is just completely awesome. And magnificent and perfect and infinite. And without that knowledge, we really miss a powerful key. So it's really self-knowledge, the getting and the applying that is most essential.
And if you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Well, I'd probably tell him— he wouldn't listen to me— I'd tell him to not be so sexually crazy. There'd be consequences in his physical physicality. But, you know, that's what I probably would have told him, along with reminding him about, you know, there's a deeper self that he doesn't know.
And in your opinion, what's the key to happiness?
The key to happiness is, again, this self. This self-knowledge is extraordinary because no matter what happens in the world of circumstance, this one is happy, fulfilled, joyful, and nothing changes that. That cannot be changed in any way. It's always available, and everyone will eventually have it, but we find it one by one as we wake up to it.
And what's the best book you've read, and what was the number one thing you learned from it?
The best book I've ever read is The Way of Mastery by an author named Jayam. And again, I have studied that for years, rereading, rereading, rereading, because it's a wonderful instruction about who we really are, the divine self that we are.
And what's your favorite quote and why?
Hmm, let's see. I am the resurrection and the life because we are— each one of us is the resurrection and the life in the truth of who we are as we live in that awareness.
And my last question for you is— and thank you again for coming on, Michael— is where can people find you online? Where's the best place for them to connect with you? Www.michaelrobbins.me. Awesome.
Thank you for coming on, Michael. Thank you for having— doing this. It's a great, great event.
