All right, everyone, welcome back to another episode of the Business Blast podcast. I'm your host, Tyler Wagner. Today I have Nancy Lucchesi with us. She is the @Mama. So welcome to the show, Nancy.
Hi, thank you, Tyler. Happy to be here.
Of course, we're happy to have you. We'll dive in. The first question I have for you, Nancy, is what is the best story from your life that has an underlying valuable message?
Oh, wow. Okay. There are several to choose from, but one that stands out was actually career-changing for me. And that's back when I had worked for a corporation and I was told over and over again that because of my education in the medical field, that I would never make a good salesperson. And one day I just ventured out, did a 360-degree, jumped into owning my own business, and my life has changed from there. So I guess the valuable lesson is you have to step out of your comfort zone so then your comfort zone's going to follow you.
Mm. And what is the most valuable piece of information we should know that's within your expertise or industry?
I design mobile apps for small businesses, and I think the most important thing for the small to medium business to know is that they can compete with the big budget people and have a mobile app. Because nowadays mobile apps is where your customers come to do business with you, and it's something that a lot of small business people don't see. They, they need it as part of their arsenal that goes along with their social media, their webpage, and now another good marketing tool is your mobile app.
And what's your best piece of overall business advice? So not necessarily industry specific.
In general, I would say to to do one thing at a time. Multitasking is actually going to be the death of you. It is better off for you to just focus on one specific task, complete it, and move on. I like to live by the Ohio system, or the only handle it once. So I get something, focus on it, do it, and move to the next. Get a lot done that way.
Yes, I agree.
And that's very cool. I never heard of that, the Ohio system. Very cool. And if you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would that be?
Listen to your gut. You have the passion within you and you know what you're doing. So listen to your gut. It's your best advice.
And in your opinion, what is the key to happiness?
Living authentic, being your true self. Don't try to be somebody else. Don't try to mimic somebody. Be you, be authentic.
And what's the best book that you've read and what was the number one thing you learned from that?
Ah, my favorite book, Three Feet from Gold, Sharon Lechter and Greg Reid. And it is a fantastic book. And what I picked up from that, especially being a solopreneur, is to always reach for that. You're only three feet from gold. So seek advice, seek counsel, don't ask your family and friends, and realize that your opportunity is there. I am— that's a passionate book that I live by.
And what is your favorite quote and why?
Raise your standards and you'll raise your quality of life. And that's by Anthony Robbins. And I have lived with that quote in my brain for years. It's been the heart and soul of me, and I fully believe it. If you raise your standards, your quality of life is only going to go up, and I'm continuously thriving to do that.
Yes, I agree, and I'm a huge Tony fan as well. And, uh, well, thank you so much for coming on. The last question I have for you before we let you go is, where's the best place for people to find you online?
Oh, the best place to find me is my website, unleashedmobileapps.com, and you can find all different ways to contact me there, and you can learn a little bit more about the App Mama.
Awesome. Thank you again for joining us. We appreciate it.
Thanks, Tyler Wagner.
