Vanessa Lambert: Bee The Wellness

Vanessa Lambert, CEO of Be The Wellness, says entrepreneurs in coaching and wellness should stop waiting for perfection and start working with clients now. She believes presence is the key to happiness, and that examining your money story shapes whether you can align business with purpose. Her core philosophy comes from Helen Keller: life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.

Alright everyone, welcome back to another episode of the Business Blast Podcast. I'm your host Tyler Wagner. Today I have Vanessa Lambert with us. She is the CEO of Be The Wellness, which is an adventure-based wellness company. So welcome to the show, Vanessa.
Thanks, Tyler. Thanks for having me.
Of course. Thanks for joining us. We'll dive in. The first question I have for you, Vanessa, is what is the best story from your life that has an underlying valuable message?
Well, not to start out on sort of a down note here, but, you know, it's a relatively sad story, but many years ago my grandmother was very ill and possibly, you know, we thought she'd possibly be facing her death soon. And we went to visit her. She'd been in home health for, you know, several months kind of ailing. And we went to visit her that day. And as we drove away that night, planning to return in the morning to be with her, we had a tremendous gut feeling, both myself, my husband, my mom, and I, to turn around and to go back to the house. And so we really just could not— it was an undeniable feeling that we needed to turn around and go back. And so we did. And, you know, of course, she ended up passing away that night. We were able to be with her in the home with her. And it gave us such a sense of peace that we were able to be there in her final moments. And really, the thing that I took away from that, and that has really rung true for me all these years, is to trust your gut. There is an intuitive sense of intelligence in each and every one of us, and it is our divine right to listen to it. So I always remind myself to really tune into what it is that my own body, my own wisdom is saying.
And what is the most valuable piece of information we should know that's within your expertise or industry?
There's so many, but you know, the one thing I would say is don't wait for things to be perfect. Get in the game, start playing. I think oftentimes, and this is really for any industry, but specifically for coaching or any, any of the wellness industry, get in, start working with people, put yourself in the game. Don't wait to have a perfect product. A perfect presence. If you wait, you'll keep trying to perfect all of that forever. So I say just get in the game.
And it might go along with it, but what is your best piece of overall business advice? So not necessarily industry specific.
You know, I would say to get your money story straight. And what I mean by that is we all have a lot of story around money, what we think it should be in our lives, how we think we should relate to it, if we should be— if we deserve a certain amount of it or So I think one of the most important things you can do is really look in and see what's there around your money story or the story you're telling yourself about your income and really see if there's anything that's not serving your higher good or your business's higher good.
And if you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would that be?
Choose your friends wisely. You are the sum of the people you surround yourself with. So if the people that are in your circle do not represent the type of person and the life that you want to create, it's important that you surround yourself with different people. So I would really tell, especially in those impressionable years, choose your friends wisely.
And in your opinion, what is the key to happiness?
In my opinion, the key to happiness is being present. Most suffering exists outside of the present moment, and we are usually worried, preoccupied, distracted by things that are not actually happening in the now. And if you can actually bring yourself into the now, you will often find that it's a perfectly lovely, wonderful place to be. So I really always try to remind myself, our clients, anyone that I can, that it's all about being in the moment.
Yes, could not agree with you more. And what is the best book that you've read? And what was the number one thing you learned from that?
You know, this was a book that I read and it was actually a really life-changing book for me. It was called The Way of the Peaceful Warrior and it's a warrior— sorry, that sounded like warrior— Way of the Peaceful Warrior. And, you know, I think the thing that really turned on for me when I read that book is that we actually have the power to create our own realities and that we and we ourselves alone are responsible for the energy in our lives and the way that we create the world that we live in.
And what is your favorite quote and why?
My favorite quote is, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all," by Helen Keller. And I think that really, for me, obviously owning an adventure company, adventure is such a pivotal part of our lives and has been a pivotal part of my life and the way that I've transformed and the way that I've grown throughout the years. And I think that if you really embrace adventure as a way of being in life, you can live such a more expanded experience in your reality.
Yes. Thank you so much for coming on. The last question I have for you before we let you go is where's the best place for people to find you online?
