In this solo YouTube monologue, Tyler Wagner, founder of AuthorsUnite.com, shares his personal journey with the fear of death. He explains that the anxiety intensified after achieving success, as he suddenly felt he had more to lose. A pivotal moment came from an audiobook that presented death as a continuation of life, emphasizing that our parents' DNA lives within us and that we, in turn, carry our DNA into future generations. Wagner describes how this perspective—seeing oneself as part of an ongoing genetic and legacy chain—helped him alleviate his fear. He encourages viewers to consider their own legacy, whether through children, creative works, or lasting impact, as a way to reframe mortality and reduce death anxiety.

Hi, my name is Tyler Wagner. I'm the founder of AuthorsUnite.com. What I want to do today is talk to you about the fear of death. I actually went through probably about a year or two period of my life where I was extremely fearful of death. What really triggered it, at least what I believe from what I've been able to uncover, is due to the fact that once I started to have success and things really started to work out, I was so afraid of dying because I felt like I really had something to lose, you know. So that really just like played into my, into my mind. And it was a very difficult time for me. So I want to talk to you guys about this. This video really doesn't have much to do with books, although I did come up with this kind of from listening to an audiobook. How the audiobook kind of changed my view of thinking on this, of the fear of death, is that he said life is a continuation. There really is no birth or death from this author's point of view. It really kind of struck me. I was like, "He's kind of right." The way that he kind of explained this, or the way that he did explain this, is that he said your mother and father, literally, their DNA is in you. Is in you, you know what I mean? So like, they— you are literally a combination of them. So when my father dies and my mother dies, like, I will be extremely like heartbroken. I can't even imagine what that feeling will be like. But they literally had— they had me, so they are within me. So this is as far as I've gotten so far, but what's helped me feel better and get over my fear of death is that if I were to have kids, right, then like I am a part of them. So I will continue on as long as they keep having kids and they keep having kids. And you know, also like obviously this video will live on after me and things of that nature, but like your real DNA is actually within your kids. So for all of you out there, I know it's almost like everybody has a fear of death. Like even though I've kind of like gotten over it, I'm still— I don't necessarily want to die, you know, You know what I mean? But like just knowing that life is a continuation has really helped me, so I wanted to share that message with all of you out there watching this video. So I will talk to you soon, and thanks for watching.
