The content is a solo presentation aimed at educating viewers on choosing the right protein powder based on their needs, recorded in 2013.
Hi, I'm Natalie. Jill. Let's talk about protein powders. I get a lot of questions from people asking about how do you decide? It's very confusing. Whey, casein, egg blends, how do I know what it is that I should look for? I want to shed some light on that with you today. The biggest differentiator between protein powders is how quick digesting they are. Are they slow digesting or are they quick digesting? Whey protein, for instance, is very quick digesting. That's why it's ideal first thing in the morning or pre and post workout because you want to get it in your system and to those muscles quickly. The next type of protein I want to go over are the slow digesting ones and that is the casein and the egg protein. Those are longer lasting, slow digesting proteins and they're ideal at night before bed because you're going into a fasting state and you want to keep yourself full and fueled with protein throughout the night. Then there's the blends. The blends are typically a combination of all of those and those can be used as a meal replacement or as a longer lasting slow digesting protein. Then there's the vegan proteins and those are plant based typically. So you can get that from soy or hemp or even rice powder. The last one I want to go over are the meal replacements. The meal replacements are typically a protein mixed now with some carbohydrates and some healthy fats. So it's a meal in one. You can have that as a full meal replacement. Now what I like to personally look for in protein powders are ingredients that I can define natural ingredients and no artificial sweeteners. That's my personal preference. So there you have it. I hope I've helped shed some light on protein powders for you. Visit my site@nataliejofitness.com for lots more tips.
