Bioidentical hormones vs HRT for peri menopause and menopause

This is a YouTube video titled "Bioidentical hormones vs HRT for peri menopause and menopause" created in January 2023. The content features a single speaker discussing her personal experience with hormone replacement therapy and bioidentical hormones during perimenopause and menopause, explaining the differences, her treatment regimen, and advice on testing and consulting doctors. The video is informative and personal but does not involve multiple speakers or a conversation with Natalie Jill.
Hormones can be super controversial in midlife. So I'm going to share what I actually do based on the questions I got from my last recent podcast, and then also what I get from regularly posting about hormones and menopause and all the shifts that go along with that. So I'm sharing what I personally do. This is not advice for you. This is just what I do based on questions. Thought I'd answer it all in a video. What I recommend for you, not as your doctor, because I'm not your doctor, is to get tested, to have those conversations with your doctor, to get lab tests. So what I personally do is I was looking and I learned the difference between hormone replacement therapy and bioidentical. They're two totally different things. Okay. Hormone replacement therapy is based on synthetic hormones. Bioidentical is a more natural regimen which basically makes your body. It mimics hormones in your body. So I went the bioidentical route. Now, why did I do that? I did that because I was having massive symptoms in perimenopause towards menopause. And what really put me over the edge was the hot flashes. I had hot flashes consistently, nonstop, like five an hour. I couldn't take it. I would sweat through my sheets at night. I couldn't take it. And I felt like I was turning into a different person. And I didn't want to tough it out. Honestly, I'm just. Some of you were stronger than me. I didn't want to tough it out. And I learned we don't necessarily need to. So through blood work and through working with my doctor, I went on bio identical. Now, what I personally do. What I personally do is I do. And I'm going to show them to you. I do cre, which are from bioidentical. They're compounded like this. So I do a low dose of estrogen daily, and that's what stopped the hot flashes. And I do a small dose of testosterone every other day. That's all I needed for me, that matched my blood work. And then I do progesterone every single night, which helps us sleep better. It helps the spinning mind, helps the foggy head. Now, why do I do it every night? Because sometimes it's recommended to cycle. Well, if you still have a regular menstrual cycle, you definitely shouldn't do it every night. Your doctor would help you cycle it. But if you are stopping or it's getting irregular or you don't have it at all, that's when you might want it every night. So if you are interested in learning more about bioidentical or hormone replacement. And it's a very personal choice. It's a very personal choice. Then you want to get tested, have your blood work done. Now. If your doctor is not someone that's encouraging that or and you feel like you still want someone that can, then I would encourage you to ask around, maybe get a second opinion. For functional medicine doctors, naturopathic doctors typically are more likely to test for optimal levels. So that's what I choose to do. If you need a place to get tested, I do have a place. I highly recommend. I vetted them and they do. You can order your labs. I even show what I test for. You can get your labs and they even have virtual doctors that will do a consult with you and help you from wherever you are. So that's what I do. I hope that answered some questions.
