Does Juicing Make Us Fat with Drew Canole | Natalie Jill

Natalie Jill and Drew Canole discuss whether juicing causes weight gain, what people get wrong about it, and how to juice correctly for health. They compare homemade juice to commercial green juice products and share practical tips.
Hi, guys. Welcome back to unprocessed. You'd diet. I'm Natalie Jill, and I'm here today with my friend Drew Canole, and we are talking about juice. And the question, does juicing make us fat? Because that is a question. I get a lot. And who better to bring on for this discussion than the king of juicing? Seriously, the king of juicing with Drew Canole.
He is the big king of juicing.
Thank you. And Drew is who I learned about juicing from before. Before it was, like, this trendy thing. Yeah, right?
Yeah.
So we have a lot to discuss. We're talking about if it makes you fat, what people are doing wrong with it.
Got it.
And then what to do if you don't have access to all these yummy fruits and vegetables.
And we got a surprise for him at the end too.
Hey, Drew, why was the tomato blushing?
I have no idea.
Because he saw the salad dressing. Okay, let's talk about juice and what people do wrong first, because that's the what do people do wrong?
So I think the biggest thing people do wrong is they'll do, like, one of these cleanses, but they're not getting enough. Right. They're just juicing, and then they start. Their hair starts thinning, falling out. They get tired, and then they just do what's called a bounce back. So you do a diet for a short period of time, then you get worse than you were before you started it. So that's a big problem. You don't want to do it the wrong way. You juice a lot of fruit.
Who, Drew? Why aren't bananas ever lonely?
I don't know.
Because they hang out in bunches.
So if you're juicing a lot of fruit, it actually spikes your insulin up as you know, and if your insulin spiked. The analogy I like to use. So as a kid, I remember my mom coming into my room, and she would always tell me to clean up everything, right, like, put your clothes away, like, do this, do that. And I was a messy little kid back in the day.
Right, Me too.
So you were too. Well, that's kind of what insulin's like. Insulin comes in your body, and whatever you've eaten with something that spikes your insulin up, like in two fruit, it stores it. It puts it away. So liken to your mom coming in and telling you to do that, you have to really minimize how much your insulin spiking up throughout the day to have effective fat loss.
So not putting too much fruit in it. So the first thing people. They tend to do it As a cleanse. And they're not doing that. Right. The second thing is they're doing it with too much fruit. And then what else are they doing wrong?
And then I would say the last one is they're going to the store. They don't have a juicer, so they'll go to the store and they'll buy all these juices that have been HPP packed or pressurized. And. And you lose all the vitamins, the enzymes, the aminos, the effectiveness of the juice when you're actually buying it from the store like that, unless it's pressed and it lasts three to four days from a juicer and it hasn't been pressurized or anything, like, that's good juice. But you're wasting a lot of money. You're wasting 10 to sometimes 12, 15 bucks for a juice at the store. You do that two or three times a day. I mean, it adds up quickly.
So juicing. Absolutely. If done the wrong way. Correct. Could be creating a problem. However, you can do it the right way, and it adds a lot of value to us. Right. So we talked about the wrong ways to juice. Can we give some examples or share how what the right way to juice is?
Absolutely. So I think start small. I would recommend just doing one juice a day and making sure you do it, because at five, six days, something magical starts to happen. You start to build up willpower and momentum to actually stick with that goal.
There's some things that we talked about earlier about using a high amount of leafy green vegetables.
Correct.
Is that the main thing we want to get and what's interesting, and I want to show you guys this because this is the amount that we would want to be eating if we were going to actually eat it. And the problem is most people, and even me, who loves vegetables, I can't physically eat this all day long. Oh, pale. No, I would be literally eating this all day long. So I had to look at options as either a green powder or juicing because I can't physically eat this.
Yeah, this is a lot.
This is a lot.
So.
But this would be the right stuff to juice, right?
Yeah, 100%.
Why do mushrooms get invited to all the vegetable parties?
I have no idea.
Because they're fun guys, you know, if we can't, because we're going to show you guys how to make a juice drink. But if you could not get all of this, what's the next best thing?
So after years of beating my head against the wall and going through TSA with my suitcase and my Juicer and getting stuff. I can only imagine every time. Like the weird juice guy. We came up with an all organic non GMO green juice that's actually sweetened with luohan and we added ashwagandha to it. Ashwagandha actually lowers your cortisol level in your body, which cortisol is one of the primary things as women as you age, that actually causes you to store body fat more effectively.
And it's released when you're stressed.
And it's released when you're stressed.
So can we. I want to show them what this looks like and how you would use it. And would you use it instead of. In addition to what size you'll use?
I personally use it in addition to. I do try to juice every day. And one scoop of this in water mixes so easy. You literally just dump it in. I usually mix it up without even a spoon or a fork.
Okay.
Because it mixes perfect and it is the best tasting green juice on the planet, I think. I mean, I'm a little biased. What do you think you want to try? It looks good.
Yeah, it just tastes like.
Tastes kind of like sweet tea, right?
Yeah, like an iced tea. What is that?
That's the matcha green tea. And then it's also the luohan with the coconut.
So that's why it's got the sweet taste.
That's awesome.
Yeah. I want to make a juice and then I want to compare the two. I want to, like, try them both.
Alright, cool.
And I want to see what it tastes like mixed together.
All right, let's do it.
All right. Hey, Drew, how has a lemon? Asked for a hug. Oh, give us a squeeze. I would, like, literally eat it.
I love broccoli. Alright, here's the taste test. This is the juice we just made. And this is organifi green juice.
In the left corner we've got homemade juice.
Yeah. So we got parsley, we got kale, we got lemon, we got lime, we got dandelion greens. What do you think? See that beautiful green color?
Good. Spicy.
Spicy. Little ginger in it.
Yeah. They taste totally different. This is sweeter.
Yep.
This is more vegetable y. Y Vegetable y. But they're both good.
Good.
They're good. They're totally different. Totally different things, but they.
What do you think the majority of people are gonna like this one because it's sweeter? Yeah, People like sweet stuff. There's no fruit in this at all.
No.
So there's no.
So without the fruit, without the added sugar, you're getting the sweetness.
Cool. Well, I'm glad we did the taste test. Now, if you're interested in getting some organifi. What do they get to Organifi.com? so it's O r g a n I f I. And we're going to give them a coupon code. All right, what is it? NJ NJFIT.
