This is a YouTube video titled "July 3, 2022" featuring Natalie Jill discussing the limitations of calorie counting for long-term weight management. She explains why not all calories are equal nutritionally, highlights common misconceptions about calorie intake and expenditure, and advises focusing on natural foods and increased physical activity instead of strict calorie counting.
Let's talk calorie counting. Calorie counting does not work long term. Let me explain why a calorie is not a calorie. First of all, eating 100 calories of broccoli is not the same as eating 100 calories of M&Ms. It's just not. It's not going to do the same nutrition wise for your body. But most important is most people grossly underestimate how many calories they are eating in a day and they grossly overestimate how many calories they are burning in a day. So that sets us up for failure. Plus it's impossible to know exactly how many calories are in a piece of food. For example, take an apple. Well, how big is the apple? How ripe is the apple? We can't fully estimate that. When you take on just calorie counting for weight loss, you set yourself up for failure, disappointment and obsession over that. Instead what to do? Focus on eating more natural real foods, adding in more of the good which makes less room for the not so amazing. And focus on moving more which will help release more.
