This is a YouTube video titled "Midlife workout advice" containing a motivational and educational talk by Natalie Jill recorded in September 2022. In this content, Natalie Jill discusses strategies for managing metabolism changes in midlife, emphasizing healthy eating, avoiding deprivation, and moving the body in a way that feels good to maintain vibrancy and well-being.
All right, here's the deal. In midlife, as our metabolism slows down and we start seeing these changes in our body, we get into panic mode and we think we have to work out harder and eat less. And that leads to deprivation. It leads to feeling like a failure. It doesn't work. It's not the long term solution. So what do you do instead? Well, number one, you have to first decide what it is that you're after in midlife. What is it that you want for yourself? And that doesn't mean comparing to something you had before, what is it that you want now for yourself? That's number one. Number two, you've got to actively fuel your body to live a vibrant life, which means not drastically reducing your calories. It means eating healthy, natural, real food. I love unprocessed food. Natural food that helps you shine, that helps you be vibrant. And then you have to think of moving your body in a way that feels good, that keeps you active, but doesn't put your body into beat up mode. The more we go into beat up restriction, I'm not going to have this, I'm not going to have that, and I'm going to beat myself up and work harder. The worse that we start feeling about ourselves and it keeps us.
