This is a YouTube video titled "The 3 pm energy crash" containing a monologue or single-speaker talk recorded on November 7, 2022, discussing causes and solutions for mid-afternoon fatigue, focusing on hydration and balanced meals to avoid blood sugar crashes.
Let's talk about that fuzzy head, that foggy head feeling that we have sometimes mid afternoon, especially in midlife, where we feel like we gotta reach for more sugar or caffeine to wake us up. What's going on there? Number one, make sure you're fully hydrated. Sounds obvious, but a lot of us are not drinking enough water. And when you walk around chronically dehydrated, you're gonna feel that foggy head and that, that fuzziness. And when you start adding caffeine to just fix that, you're actually dehydrating your cell more. So just adding more water is gonna change that. But the other thing that we tend to overlook is how we balance our foods, especially at that lunchtime meal, are of fats, proteins and carbs. At your meal, if you are super carb heavy, not anti carb at all, but if you're just focusing on carbs and not having enough protein or fat to balance it out, you will create a spike in your blood sugar, which then creates an insulin reaction which creates a dip and makes you feel that way. So just by balancing your foods more, adding protein and fat to your meal, you'll change a lot around that.
