Job hunting is often looked at as a setback, but it doesn't have to be. It can also be seen as an opportunity for growth. And joining us with some job hunting tips is executive recruiter and founder of MTV Coaching, Michelle Perchuk. Thank you so much for being here today. Thank you. Thank you for having me. I think this is such a great topic because we really should be looking at job searching as a good thing versus a bad thing, right?
Absolutely. Everything starts with the mindset and how you really position yourself when you're about to do something different.
Okay, so let's get in the right mindset. Okay. What are some good ways that we can make ourselves stand out so we can get that job?
So everything starts with a resume and really being clear on an objective. So I like to say to my clients, you need to know what you're looking for before you go out looking for it.
Mm-hmm.
And when one door closes, if you lose your job or you get discouraged in your current job, One door needs to close for another one to open.
I like that. That gives you a good perspective going into it. Okay. We have these sites like LinkedIn, Indeed, you know, are those good resources? Do they work in really finding a new role?
Yes, they do. If you are very specific in what you're looking for. So LinkedIn is more of a networking platform where you go meet like-minded individuals like yourself, where you could network yourself into a new position. That will pay you more money and give you more visibility.
What about the skills that we need? I mean, you know, are there different ways to keep up on a new skill so we can add it to that resume?
Absolutely. You always have to upskill. I mean, the newest thing that everyone is thinking about now is AI. But, you know, AI is also something that we should embrace and figure out how to use it in our careers, how to use it in our new jobs.
And what would you just overall say to somebody who's maybe sitting here watching today and they're like, I just, I wanna shine, I want that new role. What is your number one tip?
Just be clear in who you are and what your strengths are and really know how to market yourself and always think of everything in your life as a positive. I like that.
Okay, where can we go for more information?
mtvcoaching.com is my website. You could also find me on LinkedIn under Michelle Perchuk. I love it. Michelle, thank you for being here today. Thank you for having me. We appreciate it. Thank you.
