A short coaching message from Michelle Perchuk addressing recent hires about first-day nervousness when starting a new job. Michelle reassures listeners that hiring teams believe in them, suggests visualizing success (a bird invited to a tree), and offers ongoing support via direct message for questions about nervousness or new roles.
For those of you who got jobs in the last six months after working with me, congratulations. I'm sure many of you have gone through the nervousness of that first day at work being scared of your new manager, being worried about what your new colleagues are going to think of you. But here's a little tip. Remember, they are scared of you as much as you are scared of them. If they made the hiring decision to bring you on board, that means they believe in you. They believe that you have the skills and that they feel that you will be successful at their company. Believe me, no one wants to take a call from upstairs saying, oh, remember this new guy or girl that we brought in? They're not going to work out. So this is something that you could think about as you're starting your new job, maybe today or next week or next month. They are as scared of you as you are of them. And here's a visual that you could think about. Focus on your success. Think of yourself as a beautiful bird that got invited to the tree. That tree is your new company. And all you have to worry about is building that nest one little twig at a time every day. Happy building and happy spring. And you have any questions about nervousness, about starting a new role, please DM me.
