Stop Networking, Start Connecting. | Michelle Perchuk

Michelle Perchuk and two other speakers discuss building real relationships instead of traditional networking. They offer career coaching on navigating job transitions and transferable skills in a changing job market.
Hi job seekers. I bet today you would like to.
Talk about if your job is going to exist tomorrow and will your skills.
Be transferable into the jobs of tomorrow?
I understand it's a big concern for.
All of you and there are some significant steps that you could take in.
Order to figure this out for yourself.
So today let's talk about what you.
Can do to gain clarity and figure.
Out if you will have a job in the future.
Today I'm going to tell you to.
Stop doing something, something that you've been doing forever in your professional lives.
Do something drastic.
Stop networking.
Networking is an overused word. I know you've been taught to network.
And to grow your contact list, but.
What use is it to Add contacts.
On LinkedIn or through email or through social media if you really never have.
An opportunity to speak to them?
So my suggestion is, as a very.
Effective career coach who works with professionals.
Globally to stop networking and start collaborating and building relationships.
As a career coach, I work with my clients to help them identify the.
List of top 30 people they should be talking to. People that could make a difference in.
Their lives, but most of all, people.
Who would be willing to participate in your job search and make the introductions that you need.
I know it could be frustrating to.
Look for a job, especially if you're looking to transfer your skills into a new job.
No's can be very frustrating, but that's where you need a professional career coach.
Who can guide you through those no's.
Who can talk to you about feedback.
And the learning experience that you are encountering right now as you are growing your contact list.
So once again, stop networking, stop having.
Meaningless relationships and concentrate on building meaningful relationships and collaborations.
We could do that together. I'm Coach Michelle from MTV Coaching and.
I look forward to working with you.
