I Reviewed Your Design Portfolios Live (Brutal Feedback)

In this live YouTube stream, host Charles Postiaux conducts a real‑time portfolio review session, offering blunt, "brutal" feedback to designers who submitted their work via a pinned form. The stream blends practical design critiques with broader strategic advice on how designers should structure their portfolios, websites, and pricing to attract clients. Charles discusses the importance of clear identity, storytelling in case studies, consistent UI patterns, effective use of mockups, and the balance between visual flair and usability. He also shares insights about his own content strategy, including members‑only videos that provide low‑edit, high‑value checklists and source files, and explains his $5‑per‑month membership model. Throughout the session he reviews multiple submissions, highlighting recurring issues such as unclear service offerings, excessive text, confusing navigation, and inconsistent branding, while suggesting concrete improvements like simplifying CTAs, using social proof, layering offers, and iterating designs iteratively. The stream ends with a recap, encouragement to watch the replay, and a teaser for an upcoming redesign video.

Hello, hello everyone. Can everyone hear me well? Is everything working? Good. Okay, nice. I think everything works on this. I would have to— I would try something on the chat as well. I would love to. I don't know if I can pin stuff. Can I pin that? Oh yeah, nice. So I have this little pin thing. It's the, you know, like the stream review that you can, that you can fill out the form. To get access to the— like, to review your stuff if you have like a portfolio, if you have a design. I have— we have right now 2 submissions that I want to review during the live stream, so that could be a nice little schedule to do. And yeah, pretty cozy Wednesday afternoon. I don't know where you are. For me, it's Wednesday afternoon. It's nice. I mean, nice. The weather is really not that good, but otherwise it's good. Besides that, it's good. I'm working on editing the video, the redesign video coming up. I posted something on like the post tab on the channel. I think it's good. I was like, when I finished the recording, I had mixed feelings about it. I was like, is it really good? Oh yeah, I have a bit of trouble with like some visualization stuff, but, uh, hopefully it will be a good video that everyone will enjoy. I feel like, you know, it's like 80%, 90% of the video is pretty easy to edit. And then the last 10%, it's like the really like the details to make sure retention stays high or as high as possible and people keep watching. I see you have a lot of members-only videos. Would those help me improve my web design business as well? Hey, Yulu. Um, yeah, I, I think, I think what I try to do with the members-only videos is make it very strategic and like low edits, not no edits, but very low edits. I don't care so much about the rhythm. I just want to like, I usually write like a checklist of everything I want to talk about in the video and then I just go through them one by one, give my thoughts and opinion on this so that like I want to, you know, give as much value as possible. And it's not always easy to do that. Like I just said, on videos for everyone because of retention and making sure that the algorithm likes the video. So if you like those strategic videos, you like a bit more specialized, I would say. Plus you get access to the redesign source files on Figma if that's something you care about. Web design specifically, it's not something that I specialize in, but I think there are still parallels that you can do between the two. Yeah. Hey, Shirikim. Hey, Mobile Steel. Another day to learn. Yes, sir. That is correct. Another day. Hopefully this livestream is going to be nice and you will learn a lot of stuff as well. And obviously, like, if you have to go and stuff, you can always watch the replay. Something I've learned recently is that the replay, like, it doesn't go live right away. It takes usually like a few hours to process. So if you don't see the replay right away, that's why. Yeah, thanks. I see from titles it could be useful. I give it a view. Yeah. To be like, for me, the easiest thing is when people hesitate to like become a member, it's like 5, I think it's five dollars for me. It's five euros, but depending on your your country region, it might be different. But like if I've given you five dollars worth of value in the free content, it's probably worth it to try at least for a month and you see if you like it or not. Like that's usually how I like to compare it. That's why also I also believe it's a really good deal because if you found like. I feel like it's pretty easy to be able to get like that $5 of value out of the subscription and at the same time, you know, like from the free content. So yeah, could be nice. There's someone calling me. Yeah, nice. That's so cool. I tried to do before. I mean, last week I tried to do Twitch, and so my like streaming software was a mess. It was really not enjoyable. And so I think I will just stick to YouTube. That's where the community is. That's where it's a lot easier for for. Everyone to watch and enjoy the stream. Um, and so that's really cool that I'm able to also like pin the little— oh, actually I could pin it from here. No, okay, I'm learning new stuff as well every day or every week with the live stream. Like, back to Mobile Stills comment, it's also a learning, learning moment for me as well on this. So really hyped with that. Oh, there is a new submission as well. So I think what we could do right now Is review some of those portfolios. I think that could be a nice little segment. Review them, no pressure, give some feedback and thoughts. And then if you have guys questions, as usual, you can always ask them and I will make sure to answer as many as possible to my knowledge. So yeah, we have a couple of cool little portfolios to review. I think it's always nice. Not just portfolio, I think work in general as well. And you know, usual warning, it's just my opinion and not everything I say might be right or true. It's just my perspective on things and my goal is just to give you like again as much value as possible. Hey Gabriel, notice that your website structure is popular among agency owners or freelancers. Did you notice any conversion improvement or is there any reason Of why you're not using a standard landing page? I think it's just a preference for me, to be fair. I see that. I think I've seen a couple of a couple train that as well, and I think usually also A/B test a lot. For me, I think it's just like I've I've been working on on my landing page and website in general for two years, trying like in the beginning I didn't know so Framer, so it was a really good like learning process for me of just. Let's make the website better and at the same time learn how to use Framer. So a lot of trials and errors. And for me, I feel like this current landing page or website lands really well for me, for my convenience. It's easy for me to make case studies. It's easy for me to just have that kind of presentation. And it's also something actually I reuse on my personal website as well. But instead of the case studies, I just make all the videos that I have as well. I just put them all on the landing page. And so it's just a really convenient thing for me. I don't really think so much about the other stuff. For conversions, I think usually for, I mean, it depends, right? But for design agency and studios, usually the problem is we sell usually expensive stuff. And these days, it's really— trust is a lot harder to get. And so conversions can be many things, right? Maybe they watch my content on YouTube, for example, or on LinkedIn, and so they convert. But if they just are random people just finding for whatever reason my website, and then they get on it and they don't convert, then, right? And so I've realized also that when you look at like the most famous and expensive design agencies, they have sometimes the least like conversion optimized websites. It's usually all about the brand. And so that's also like a counterargument sometimes of like, how do I optimize my website? Because sometimes they actually don't, they don't even care. Because in my opinion, what really matters is the design that you show. And how relevant it is to the people seeing it. So if you have actually the— I think for me the main conversion point is the design, or yeah, is the like the portfolio, the case studies, not so much the CTA, how you've— or how you phrased it. Now they need to recognize themselves, and I think ultimately that's what we can talk about as well with like reviewing portfolio. But, um, yeah, I think you are the biggest conversion point. Yeah, I noticed it as well, like MetaLab or Artgrid. Yeah, like, and there are some, some other like design agencies I've seen before, the website is like, like impossible to navigate, impossible to go through. And you look at the past clients and past projects, they have the biggest brands ever. And because the web's like, the website actually, that it's more like a catalog, I think, and maybe even to some extent a branding Uh, like a, like a proof of your skills and your branding skills usually, of like, look how cool the brand is for our, our agency and how, you know, we can do it for you as well. Um, I think that's kind of like related to that. And that is so cool to have that little pin thing. I just learned about it. Okay, I'm really hyped about this feature, but let's go to— let's review the the designs from people. We have Denzel for the first thing with Zell Designs. Um, what did he say? What can I improve or take away? Okay, that does not give me a lot of context on, on the specific feedback, but I will try, I'll try to answer that. Hey, I'll buy Mirage. So Mirage, welcome, welcome. So creative developer, designer, UI/UX designer with focus on product thinking and craft. That's pretty cool. I think the only problem of this like hover animation, if we're going to call it a hover animation, it's just that there are like what, 6 designs, 7 designs? Usually the goal of this is to like create this sense of whoa, there is so much work, there is so much Like, it's overwhelming in a sense. Here it just feels like a little loop. Um, so, okay, so that's the design agency, right? Oh no, designer. Okay, I'm a bit confused because Zelle Designs feel like an agency, and then it's a designer, and you have like 3 different skills that kind of look the same. Like, I would just say you— like, you say UI/UX designer here, right? Yeah. And here is 3 different services or skills. So I would try to like have clarity on this. To me, it's a little gymnastic. I understand like the grid system and making it look cool, but having the available fire right at the bottom, and then you could have it right here, literally like underneath that there, and then just 3 instead of 1. I don't know. Yeah. Like, that's something that is a problem sometimes with portfolios and websites is the lack of clarity regarding who you are and who you serve. Here you have so many different titles that I'm not even sure what you're specialized in. Like, you're a creative designer, you're a UI/UX designer, you're a web designer, product designer, so many different things. And, and so for me, it's a little confusing what actually you're— you do. And so that can be in the services, right? Like, you can mention your services that you do web design, product design. Yeah. You are UX designer, right? But like, I need to, as someone who might review your portfolio and hire you, I need to like, as soon as I land on this, I need to know who you are and what you do and how you can help me, pretty much. Charil, that's cool. I like the fact that you use mockups. I think it looks professional. I think it's something that I've, you know, talking about like what we talked about, Gabriel, is big companies, big like agencies, they use a lot of kind of, you know, unique mockups. And I think that helps drive the story. I always talk about you need the story when you show your designs and your portfolio. And so having mockups that are good and high quality can help with that. I'm not saying this is like it's— you have to use mockups or it's not possible to succeed. I just think when it's done right, it can add a lot of value in that. And actually, like I would probably use this maybe slower, but I might even want to use this as the hero section instead of this. I think that might give me more impact and more hype because looking at this, I'm like, ah, I don't really want that. But when I get to here, suddenly I'm like, oh, okay, that's pretty cool. Okay. So yeah, I would probably like maybe not flip it, but use this as like a hero section that would look a lot cooler. Featured work. Uh, not sure about that simply because it's really at the top on my screen. It should be more like in the center, or it can just be, you know, a classic list. There's also a lot of information here everywhere, so maybe like these are tags, so they could go like next to the name of the— like you have a lot of space right, right next to the project name, so I would probably maybe put the tags here with like a little, you know, like a dot. To divide them, and then 2025, I don't know, somewhere also next to next to here, so that instead of taking this much space, it takes only maybe like three lines, something like that. Key services again, it's like it's everything pretty much. So it's a little for me again, it's a little confusing. I I get the point, right? I understand that you want to. Do those things and you you want to deliver those things. But as a customer or potential customer, I prefer to hire. I mean, it depends right on your key customer, right? Key target. But I like to have like a specialized person to do it. And then a thousand dollars project, I would probably change the pricing to like nine nine seven or nine nine five just to make it you know in the mindset easier for people to understand. Like oh, it's a lot. It's not that expensive. Now the problem is when you make it not that expensive, it usually undervalues your work. And so if you see like something really good, like here, you're like, whoa, that's super cool and premium. And then you see the price that's like $1,000, you're like, oh, maybe I was wrong. Maybe it's not that premium. So it can be like a tricky thing. Something you can do, and I talk about actually thinking about you, Lou, about the members video, which you mentioned. I talk about also having kind of like layered offers. And so it's not just about your core offer that you sell of like, this is a one-off project, that's it. You can also have like an entry-level offer that's usually like a lead magnet. So lead magnet can be free, it can be cheap, like $7, $29, something like that. But can also be like something like a very hyper-productized offer service. That helps people to again build that trust that we talked about that's harder to get nowadays. And so that kind of like attraction offer, entry offer is going to help build that connection. And it happened to me before. I worked with a company for the first time. They liked one of the designs I did online. We worked together for a week. It was not an expensive project. And then a year later, they come back with a bigger project. And it was something I've never worked on in my life, like as a paid designer. I've never been paid to do that. They didn't ask for a portfolio. They didn't ask for proof for case studies. They're just like, we like what you do and we like what you did last time. Let's work on this. And I think it was like the price was 6 times bigger, maybe 5 times bigger. And so it takes longer, but it's usually a nice way to connect with leads and to again, like build that connection, build that trust, that momentum. And you also get extra social proof. So I'm not saying this is what you should do. I'm just saying that maybe instead of saying this is your core offer, you could have like actually like a premium pricing. And this, it would be like a smaller, shorter scope project where you can actually like, you know, use that to connect with people and you still make some money. Again, this is not like legally speaking, I'm just giving advice. Yeah. Don't hold me accountable to this, but that could be cool. About you, I think that's okay. If I read, if I were to read that, I would probably not read all of it. That's actually not, in my opinion, not useful to just show this because I still don't know who you are. And so it seems a little weird. It's either show your face or don't show your face. Work experience, award recognition. It's okay. Not super. I mean, it's okay. I feel like usually the problem is that if you have work experience and awards and recognition, this is very like CV resume style and not freelance designer style. Like the trust I have in you is in your portfolio, not in the past experience that you have. I don't care really about your past experience. Just a side note on this. And this is nice. I'd probably put this higher. Selected clients. Just show the logos at the top. Overall, I think the website is cool. This is nice. I think it should be a lot easier to read the different kind of testimonials on this. And then questions. Yeah, it's good. I would try to maybe if you can make it one at a time. So if I click on this one, then the other one closes. Yeah. So that's pretty much it. I don't know if I can view project. Maybe making the image actually clickable to view the project is nice. Okay, that's too much text. I won't read any of that. I might read like the first paragraph and that's it. I would need more like, yeah, too much text. Too much text, not enough designs. I need like 80% design and 20% text, something like that. Next one, we have Maninder from Chandigarh. I hope that's how it's pronounced. So for me, for this one, what did he ask? I want to know your opinion on my portfolio and how to improve it. I'm wondering if the designs are Bad or not, and what type of project I add on it. Okay, so for this one, again, it's pretty much the same feedback as before. It's like who you are and who is this for? Is this for a job? Is this for freelancing? Is this for project? I'm a bit confused here because again, it feels like a mix of both. Where, for example, like I'm not a big fan of like the sidebar here. It feels like there's a, like for me, as again, someone looking at your portfolio for the first time, I have a minute probably reviewing your portfolio before moving to the next one. Having to relearn, like relearn a new way of navigation compared to like traditional stuff is a bit difficult or adds friction to the experience. And so I would probably try to, like for example, Homepage, projects, about, contact. For me, this is pretty much contact. Or you could have a modal for the form. About, this is pretty much the about if you can shrink it. And projects are here. So you pretty much maybe can remove most of that. And then socials could be here within the page or even on the side, it's fine, I guess. And then what you have at the top here is what you have on the hero section. So again, not, maybe not essential. And then what do you want people to get out of it? What's the next step? It's the same with like a call with like a lead, like an intro call, for example. You always need to know at the end of the call, like what's their price or like what's their budget and if they're okay with your price. And what's the next time? When is the next time that you call, or that what's the next step that you have to do here? What is the next step that they want to do? Is it to know more about you? Is it to send you an email? Is it to again send you an email? Is it to make a phone? Is it like make a phone call? Is it to schedule a call? Is it to fill out a form? Right, like there are five ways to get to you where the goal is like. Really to make sure that it's very focused on one key thing. If the goal is to reach out to you, just have one way to do it, or maybe 2 ways. And you can A/B test on that as well, right? Like, if you think the form is better, then you can try the form first. If nobody fills it out but you see people on the website, then you can maybe flip to something else. This is what I made, a resources page just for that. Still updating the case studies. Just for what exactly? For like the showing the designs. Cool. So then again, like I probably won't read that. I will read this for sure. Location, like location, I don't really care where you are. Again, it depends if you were like looking for clients or looking for like a job, but location, I don't really care as long as you're good at what you do. Then feature projects. The problem with this is the thumbnail is like on YouTube. You need to make the thumbnail exciting so that people actually want to know more about it. From what I can see, the only— Volkswagen might be a good one. And this purple ReadyChat AI might be a good one as well. The other ones are not super exciting to look at. And then maybe adding a bit more explanation here, like a tag, something. About what it is about could be cool as well. Honestly, it's a bit small for like a design portfolio, and so maybe sacrificing 2 of the case studies that maybe you don't like. Again, like, the goal of case studies is to show something that you want to work on, that you want to get paid for. So if there are maybe 2 of them that you don't really care for and it's not like you don't like them so much, you can remove them, focus on 4 really good ones And maybe let them take the whole width instead of having two columns. So yeah, maybe like it's on Framer. So Framer has a video component. So I would advise to use the video component instead of YouTube, just so it looks better and you can like loop it. And this is. I think, yeah, I think it's Behance, right? Like, that's the kind of design you use on Behance, but it doesn't really work on your portfolio website. To me, again, if I were to look at it from a hiring perspective, it feels like you just made one design for Behance and then you just copy-pasted it on your website and you don't care so much about the case study. I'll probably figure out, like, I don't know, I would take the time to do that properly. I think that can have a better impact. Yeah, I like the— actually, I like the top one, the top section here. I think that's kind of like what I referenced to the earlier portfolio from Denzel, like having an easy way to just see the tags. And you could do something like add a bit more text, like right below it. Adding a bit more text for context might be good because here I have no idea what it is about or why you've worked on this. So like 3 lines, something like that would be just enough. I do like this, more project is nice to like switch back and forth between them. Maybe not the CTA because I can literally click on homepage or projects, but just having like something next to do is nice. And then again, like make sure the CTA at the bottom is clear. What do you want people to do next? I think that's about it. Honestly, 95% of designers is making websites for themselves, not for the clients. So that's actually what I've realized with— I see a lot of people on like Twitter who like, or even online on like the, I don't know, directories, design directories, website directories, where a lot of portfolios, they look super cool and creative, but like looking at the portfolio doesn't do anything for me. Like, I still get it. Um, it's all I care about, again, as like someone who might hire a designer, is, are— who are you? Is it made for me? And how good are you with designs? And are you— do you have potential for me to like want to know you a bit more and go on a call with you? That's pretty much like— that's overall all I care about. And so yes, having like a nice website is really good, but I try to like— that's what I try to do with my own website is just make it super simple, like stupid simple. I do that, I try to do that with everything, my offer, my services, my website, even like what I do for you guys with like services and stuff, or like not services but like the membership. It's just stupid simple. What's the most basic thing I can have that works? And that's it. Because ultimately, if if I take so much time to do it and it doesn't give me anything back in terms of money, resources, whatever I value most, if you like to do it and you're like it's like your hobby on the weekend, sure, no problem. But if your goal is to like get a project, get a client, I don't know. What pain they heal for a client? Yeah. But I guess it's again, like, like you're just taking it, like looking at this and what I saw before, it's probably still the like employee resume mindset, which is, by the way, super hard to— it was a big struggle for me too, like, like dividing myself as a freelancer versus my design agency. It's difficult sometimes. Now it's easier, but like And I think it's just a different mindset, and it takes time to do it. And I think my advice, if you have a portfolio or a website that's very average, is just to redo it over and over again. Like it's a design project, you'll think strategically about it, and you try to update the copy, update the CTAs, try to refine the layout, and just keep doing it. Just like design skills, volume is usually the answer most of the time. And that's what I've been able to do as well, because working on my website, working on my portfolio case studies and stuff, it's really helped me better understand what the service I want to do is about. How do I frame it in a way that makes sense for leads? And how do I create case studies that I actually am proud of? And everything takes a lot of time. So yeah, I would advise people to take the time to do that. But yeah, I think that's pretty much it. Again, like, yeah, all of this, like literally this is mockups. Like, Maninder, if you see this, you should try to just literally record, like screen record this. Flow and like make it interactive. Like click, have you like fill out the form, click on it, go through the journey, and upload that as like a video on Framer. And that's going to make it 10 times better than just showing this. Because again, it's so small, I cannot even see what it is about. I don't see the design. I don't see what it does. I, yeah, we need some storytelling and some strategy here. Cool, we have Boyd. So, um, what did you say, Boyd? I'm not getting a lot of traction on my blog. I'm wondering if the design is bad. Please let me know. Okay, so that's the, that's the blog, the articles here, projects. So just the Is it the blog or is it like a portfolio? Because I'm not sure what's the goal of the of the blog. Is it to like get leads? Is it to just get views? Is is is this it? Because to me right now it feels just a. A little empty, but maybe that's the style you go with. Ultimately, you need to think about your blog and your website as like like a brand, just like you would do on any project. And so what does it tell me on this as a user? Well, first of all, you can see the footer doesn't have the same width as like the header, like the navigation. And so that creates some you know some gap in my mind as to. Is your brain good or not? And again, same thing here. The kind of like title headline subheadline is wider than the actual blog post, which is very small. So again, it creates some inconsistencies as well here. And finally, subscribe to the newsletter. It takes about the same space as the blog post. Yeah, I'm not trying to like you know. Be disrespectful or anything. I'm just giving you my honest opinion on this. And so if you— I don't know if you like, if you can manage all of that, all of those design elements, but maybe making the subscribe newsletter just literally just the form could help. And then fixing the width on everything, making sure it's all the same width or all aligned well could also help. And then what's the, what's the point here? What's the You know, what's the goal? And also like here you can see like the differences between the like the dates views. Some are very high, some are very low. Trying to find like again that consistency here could be again really helpful. And then projects I'm working on, maybe a little visual here could be nice overall, like I feel like having a visual on blogs and projects make it more exciting. And, you know, we are humans, we love storytelling and we love seeing stuff. And so having a nice little visual could really help, in my opinion, drive some like excitement for people going on the website. So that's pretty much it. It's a little difficult to like get the full goal and motivation here. I clear. Like this could be like this is a nice little, nice little design. You have like the tags here. This could. I don't know if the photo is correct or not, but like a nice little visual with. I don't think it's fully white. It seems a little light gray, but maybe it's white. I like this little table of content. Maybe a bit more text compared to like the headline, but I'm not a I'm not a blog post professional, so. Yeah, I hope it helps. Then who do we have? We have Gabriel with this one, Spicuglia Studio. Sorry, I'm butchering it. Oh, it's in Italian. Okay, I don't speak Italian, so I will have to try to understand it. I think that's nice at the top. I'm wondering even if you could put this maybe a bit smaller in at the bottom here and then some either logos or you can reuse the images. Oh, you have logos. So you could put the logos actually above here. Like we want as much social proof as possible. It's okay. I will try to understand. It's pretty fun as well. It adds to the challenge. On the stream to make sure I can understand the Italian. But yeah, like on the hero section, the goal is like to create as much trust as possible. And so probably that's what I would do, like show the logos here. This is still okay, nice. Okay, the case studies. Okay, I might try to translate in English just to like see. Oh, okay, okay. I think that's— yeah, I will understand better, uh, like this. Book of Free Cults, that's nice. I'm wondering if there's a way to— what happens if I click white book? I would try to maybe keep it consistent on like the 3, like white book, just so it's like nice, but it's like a little detail. This could actually be a, like maybe you track it actually. So maybe it's better to be like on a separate page to track it. But we know with call.com you can, uh, you can make it a model. And so that could maybe reduce some friction as well. That could be good. Maybe adding the time, like, I don't know, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, whatever that is. Discover the project is nice. Maybe it's more like see work, see case studies. So it's not super long, but otherwise that's okay. Again, trusted by 10+ startups. And then I see faces. Yeah. And then maybe again, showing the logos could be nice to reemphasize that. The designs are nice. I will look at it a bit later. Good, good, good. Discovery call. That's nice. I would try to maybe like stop the recording before it cuts into black. I don't know if that's possible so that it just loops, but there's no like empty kind of state like that. Sign up and assign. That's nice. I like how visual it is. Maybe improve— you can see here a little bit of— maybe it's because of the translation. Yeah, okay. I would try to maybe improve a bit the paddings if that's possible. So it's a bit more compressed in a way, but there is not so much space at the bottom and the top. It looks really like Apple, doesn't it? The maybe the chevron to move through it should be at the top, like right here. I think that would be a bit better. Otherwise, that's cool. I like the visuals. Discover the case studies coming soon. So you're working actively on the case studies right now? Yeah, I think that's like the next step to really seal the deal. Monthly, weekly, one time. Oh yeah, again, that's, uh, this. Okay, for me that's a lot of checklists. I would try to get maybe less of them. Like, look at again, like, look at, uh, most successful e-commerce store, like Apple for example. They don't have that many, uh, checklist on it. So I would probably try to like stick to maybe a few, few of them, maybe 3 to 6 instead of like probably what, 12, something like that. That's nice, book a free call. This I would again, like what I just said with like the intro offer, attraction offer, it would be nice to maybe like, does it like, have you, why like weekly, one time monthly? Is it something that happened or is it just how you priced it yourself? Because I'm wondering if there's a way to make it like one time is the abstraction offer. So just like very specific product and service or offer that people really want. And then you can have like the monthly if that's your pitch on this. Maybe having a visual could be nice. Like you have fewer things on the checklist, but there is maybe an icon or something so that again, reusing some of the cool visuals you have here, maybe that could be nice. For example, one active request is like, I don't know, or unlimited designs can be a little like a car icon or something like that. Unlimited revision or fast delivery could be like a time, a clock, something like that. Put a cassette whenever you want. Once it's full, give you 70% back. You should not say I, you should say we since it's like the agency. I guess it's— I mean, I don't know if people know that it's you or not, uh, or you can say you will get 75% back, something like that. Testimonials, that's nice. I'm wondering if the testimonial should be Higher up, I still like. I still when I look at it, it's like okay, that's cool. The design are nice. Some brands nice. Okay, that's the process. I get it. And now again, it's on top of it. It's like okay, another part of the process and why it's the best. Then case studies. Finally, I can like understand if it's worth it or not for me. And then the prices. And then the testimonials. Like the testimonials might be more important. Earlier, that's nice. I guess I think I'll probably not read that. I would probably just read this. But again, you're selling as you or you're selling as the agency? Because if it's as the agency, I would say about the agency, and it's just about literally like the agency. And if it's about the agency, just like. 31 projects completed, 10 startups you've worked with. The FAQ should probably be below the pricing. The pricing is usually the last thing you see. Okay, personal one. Okay, so it should be about you. Okay, makes sense. But yeah, the pricing should be probably at the bottom so that you pretty much stack the benefits, you stack the offer and the proof so that then The pricing makes more sense. I have question. Okay, 15-minute call. It's nice. Why subscribe as a CTA and not book a free call? Okay, it's still the free call. I would probably update that. And so these are resources. Oh, so that's what you talked about. A gift for you. A notification be why created this. Okay. Is it normal that it disappears? I think it's okay. Again, if I was like, if I wanted to hire you, I probably would not care so much about calculating stuff. Okay, it's probably laggy on this. Again, timing, it's a very— it depends on everyone, I guess. It could be in your favor or it could maybe not be in your favor. I think that could be literally like a section in your landing page, like a chart of me versus others and how you stand out against them. That could be nice at the bottom here or somewhere next to the pricing or near the pricing. And then projects, that's a nice little visual. And then, okay. Yeah, looking forward to the case studies. That looks like a design I know, doesn't it? The Roland one. That was also like a design I know here, but otherwise that's cool. I'll probably improve the— I'd probably improve a little bit the design. I do like the presentation. I think it's nice, clean. You have like different— what do you want to specialize in? Something specific like mobile, or you want to do like website, product design, mobile? And you want to have like a specialized industry or anything? I think the designs are— ah, thank you. Uh, I think the designs are okay. They could be better. And for this, like, if it's like this Okay, like the tag should be always on, not on hover. And if it's like this, you just remove one so that it's always like consistent. If it's like a 2-column, you don't want the last one to just be one. And you can remove the FAQ and just keep like the CTA at the bottom. I think that would be nice. Yeah, gallery is nice. Do you want to have the gallery plus the case studies or just the gallery? Because I feel like that could be a lot. I think it's nice to keep the— like, what I'll probably do is remove the case studies for now until you have them ready and you just show the gallery. And then once it's done, you can switch. Cool, cool, cool. Okay, Mobile Steel, this is not my portfolio but a site I built. Can you review it for me please? Do I need to sign up, Mobile Steel, or is it like something I can see easily? Because like for, like literally for this stream, it's really nice that I can just like click on your, you guys like links and I can just review it. It's good. Yeah, no problem. So yeah, improve a little bit of that, work hard on like the, the design itself. I think they're like Website is good as it is. Just make sure that the designs are really cool, and then yeah. You don't need to sign up. Yeah, like you can literally like just click on like the on like the the form, enter like the URL of the page and on the like the product on the SaaS, and then I can review it. So what do we have here? We have Cody. Right, it's Cody for, uh, Cody, is this yours? Is this the, uh, what is this? Building out the infrastructure page while on the stream this afternoon. Locked in the homepage already. Nice, Cody, multitasking. Mini Framer. Okay, that's really cool. Is there a way to like maybe pitch the client for like the a logo redesign as well that you could do like as a little add-on? Because that's something I think is really important when you work on like design projects is to is to think how do I overdeliver? That's why I usually like it's better to overdeliver or understand what the goal of the client is and like make sure that okay this is what we're going to deliver we agree on this but you still are aware. Of like how to overdeliver on, on like what the client desires ultimately. And so if there's a way to, you know, like you just want to deliver the website and it looks cool and clean, but also you've done some exploration work on the logo and you present it nice, that can be a really good like upseller. Okay, that's really cool. I really like the, the hero section. Better infrastructure for predictable performance. So this moves this. This is really cool as well. It looks really nice. I don't know if it looks also— have you worked on like the mobile as well or not yet? Okay, not yet. 'Cause that's going to be probably the challenge on this. Yeah, in Framer. Nice. Framer for the win. This is really nice. I like the background. Are you also working on like the— yeah, you're designing everything within Framer. Are you going to make this interactive as well? Like you can click through? I know some landing pages do that. That's really nice to make it extra special, I think. That's something I've talked about. When did I talk about it? Oh yeah, in the lovable onboarding flow. It's when you let people experience the product before they even sign up and go into the onboarding flow because it creates for them a mission of like, I have to achieve that goal. I have to— like, I want to use the product, and so I'm willing to some extent, of course, go through the onboarding flow. So if you can do that in the product to some extent and give them the experience, I think that's like a major plus. I have submitted it. Okay, Mobile Style, we're going to— we will have time to review it. And then— no, not yet. Okay. But so far looking really cool. So you just work on the website? You also— it's also included the product redesign, or it's just— yeah, just for like extra context on this. This is nice. Uh, this— for this, I would try to like— I think you probably know it, but, uh, yeah, like make sure like if it's the same in terms of like first line black and then second line gray. Keeping everything first line black would be good. This is— is it going to be click— I think it's going to be clickable on the tags. Maybe the padding is a little bit too large. You can iterate on this. I like this little like section headline. I think that's pretty cool. Product is also included, but I'm mainly on the market side. Okay, got it. No, that's cool. It's a really nice product. This is cool. Again, maybe I'm not sure again about the— at least something that's good is the padding is consistent. So the padding you have for the card or the section is also the padding right below it and everything else. So that's consistent and good. But yeah, maybe it's a little too— there's a bit maybe too much space, but Yeah, you can iterate on that also later on and see if I'm saying stupid things. Oh, that's cool. That's pretty nice. I think for this it's just like staying consistent. Again, it's like once I have a pattern in my head on this website, I expect it to pretty be pretty similar throughout the experience. And so if there's a grid here and there is no grid here, for me it might feel strange. Or maybe it's not the grid itself, it's just like how it's presented. But the visuals are really, really cool. Maybe a little bit too much text here. This card is really nice. Like, I'm even wondering, to be honest, like, if this card and you add that like This like animation inside in the background, and you just duplicate that for for those if that could work or not. For this documentation references, I'm wondering if this could work with like the with this background again to reuse it and have a nice little recall on this global infrastructure here. I would love to get like that. That little connection visual back again here. Again, I think with websites, it's all about patterns and letting the user, as soon as they understand a section, it's like they can understand the whole website because it's made— there is no new patterns and new visuals to understand. It's all in the same atmosphere and the same architecture. So that could be cool. And then pricing, I would probably polish the pricing. Maybe it's something you were still working on. I'm not super big fan of like that outline gradient. I get the direction, but yeah. And maybe be careful with the very bright blue. It's borderline not readable. Yeah, I can see you're still working on this with like the The little titles. I like this, uh, I like this testimonial design. That's cool. This is nice. Maybe shorter or smaller, or are they not related? Maybe they seemed related. Nice, classic, good. A little, little work on the click, and this again, like reusing that, uh, That dark theme at the bottom for like the CTA would be super cool. Or maybe even here as the footer, that would be super nice as well. Like there is a lot of potential on this. Like that's really, really nice. And then reusing the stuff, still a work in progress. Nice. Yeah, honestly, like you are on the right track. It looks really, really nice. Keeping things consistent, tightening things up here and there, making sure that the, you know, visuals The paddings, the spacings all work well. Plus on top of that, the little animations. That's going to be a really cool website. And if you can overdeliver on that logo, that would be a real nice like extra stuff. I submitted my agency set for review. Recently found your page since I've begun taking on product design and I'm addicted. Some thoughts regarding my set would be much appreciated. Thank you so much. How do I pronounce your name? Crotographer. For case studies, do you suggest going for the overview, problem, process, solution, iterations, results? For me, the case studies is all about the storytelling and the strategic— actually, strategic storytelling might be a better word. It's all about this is the problem they came in with, and this is how we kind of strategically solved it. So it's more about you taking them through a journey rather than being kind of like a student doing like a case study kind of work. So you can again like look at my website, for example, and other websites obviously, but they don't really They don't really present it like that. It's more like this is the final outcome, and this is why this specific snapshot of the outcome are relevant to the whole picture and what we help them solve. They all connect back to the solution ultimately. I don't talk about the process. I don't talk about the— the results could be nice if you have them. But yeah, I don't know if it helped. It was a bit all over the place on this. Boss Implementers changes. Thanks. Love the content. Keep it up. Thank you so much, Cody. Appreciate it, and good luck on the on the website. Cartographer, but my just name is Studio Quiet. Sorry, little prompts. No, no problem at all. You know problem, Gabriel. Happy to help. Okay, so we have the last 2 for the stream. Almost at an hour already. Wow, it goes so fast with you guys. I hope you're having as much fun as I am because it's really, really cool. So we have studio quiet right now. From Aaron, or Cartographer. What is the message? Overall site layout and ideas for how to structure my contact element to attract larger clients and the best place for it. That is for instruction. Quiet. We stay quiet while you take the spotlight. Oh, that seems a little sad. It's like we want to take the spotlight with you and, you know, like go to the moon with you. But I get the idea. Start a project. I do like the— like, I think that's some nice colors. I do like the, like, black, white, and orange. I've been funded to create beautiful brands, website, and product. That's a lot. You like deliver three things at once. Usually, clients when they have money, they want one solution. Like they want one person to solve one solution. And so when you like all three things, it's you are either a big agency who can do everything, or you are a small agency and you try to do everything. And that gives us a little bit of different things. And so usually, if it's like if you really want to do those things and you like include it inside like a big package or It's customized, then you try to frame it as the strategic end goal of like you are going to be the best in the market through those three deliverables that we have for you, right? And so it's again like you don't like this is kind of like the the vehicle, not the destination. And so maybe when you try to sell it to bigger clients, you sell this destination and. you deliver with the vehicles, or you give— you bring them to the destination with the vehicles, whether that's 1 vehicle or 3 vehicles. Hope it makes sense on this. You're the last one, man. Should have filled out the form right away when the stream started and you would have been the first. Sorry about that. Uh, yeah, I do like the really subtle— I don't know why I don't see that, like the— this nice little gradient. I feel like it's cool. I don't see them earlier, but I like the smooth transition. I don't like the control. I don't— is it control? Like very slow scroll. What's the decision between, uh, behind making them gray by default? I would probably I'll probably remove on hover the zoom in, like make it the scale to make it bigger. I would keep it the same, but I would— hmm, I think I would probably— okay, I don't know if that's possible, but I would have them all like this overstate would be like the default state for all of the cards so that they all look cool and awesome. And on hover, I would darken all of the other ones. Or other option, I would darken all of the other ones, and on hover, it would just like be like the bright color so that it feels like it pops out without taking— without losing the focus. Because if everything is important, nothing is important. But yeah, absolutely, I would remove the like the little scale because you can see like it's sticking to like the edge of the screen. not super pleasant on this, uh, because you look at like the visuals are really cool. Like, I like the colors and the, the logos on this. What is it? Recent work. Okay, good feedback. Okay, nice. I hope it's, uh, it's all valuable on this. Yeah, you missed it, man. I mean, you will still have the, the replay. Uh, yeah, we still have one more after this. So you're still, you know, you still arrive on time. But yeah, otherwise that's good on that. Then logo archive. Nice. I would probably with the logos, like instead of just colors, again, it depends on like your time and resources, but maybe having them on like a nice visual would be nice. Like even if it's AI visual, that could be really cool. Or if it's like on a mockup so that it feels a bit less just, you know, a lot of colors everywhere. That could be really nice. Start a project, you click. Okay, that's nice. So, Art Quite the Brand, the work. Can you have like a hover state on this like navigation also? Okay, that's the section of the website because I literally didn't know what these were, uh, right away. And then start a project to like reach out. Okay, cool. And then if I click on one, okay, that's good. The kind of what you've worked on, description, the URL. Beautiful. I think it looks really nice. Beautiful design, branding. Mockups and photographs are really, really good. Again, I'd probably not have that. You can still have the glow, but I'd probably not do like the scale on hover. And I would probably add, like I saw earlier on another one, like a maninder. I would add like maybe see next so that as soon as, like, I mean, like, you know, I'm watching a video. It's like as soon as I watch a video and I really like it, YouTube recommends me like another one that I can keep watching. And I would do that because you need multiple case studies, multiple connections with the lead to actually create some trust. But it looks really cool. I don't know if there's another one I could check out. Again, nice. It's clean. I like the— oh yeah, that's cool. Nice little visual, like the frames. Like you have so many like really beautiful, you know, visuals. Like put it on the website, like on the landing page. That's a little laggy. I don't know if you can fix that, but otherwise looks really cool. Pretty nice work. Uh, yeah, nice. And then the last one for this live stream, mobile still after the long wait. Astra design. So what's the overall design? What to take out and what to improve or add? Okay, I think that's nice. I would usually the— how to call that— like a floating bar, like for like the special discount. I would probably keep it like on the edges of the screen, not as a floating bar, like it sticks to the edges. That would be better. That's nice. Do you need a search on the website, or is it— oh, it's selling templates. Okay, navigation is good, it's smooth, I like it. Oh, the When you exit it, the animation is a little laggy. Usually the rule of thumb is you animate the— you animate when you— when it goes in, but when it goes out, usually cut it faster or just hide it. And that's probably what I would do here. Maybe the, like, the paddings, if we can call that, or the spacing out, like, here is A little too thick for me. Probably make it a little less, maybe less thicker would be nice. Upgrade to pro, maybe make it cooler, you know, like some nice cool colors would be like here, glow in the dark, kind of like the same to make it really interesting for people to do it. Yeah, it's everywhere. So I'd probably like improve a little bit the, the CTA on this. Otherwise that's nice. I like the navigation. I'm not sure about the— I'm not sure about this outline. I don't know if it's the animation or if it's just the design itself. Maybe there's a way to animate it or something. So that's the platform. Okay. Because I'm thinking this could be a much better hero section. Like, like this, then this one here. Animated with Motion, start with Tailwind. I'll probably change the colors of the logos to be like gray, so it's a bit less distracting and you focus more on the actual product itself. But very small details. That's nice, like it's like the Framer website, right? Cool animation like this. It looks really nice, very smooth. I like this clean, simple text. Nice little CTA. Yeah, okay, it really looks like the Framer website. I mean, they're winning, so that's nice. I feel like it's a little difficult to read the, the description of those cards. If there's a way, like I said with Cody, with, uh, the website he's working on, if there's a way to— since it's probably Framer, let's check. Is it Framer? It's not Framer. Is it custom? Because what would have been nice is if it was interactive here and you could click on stuff like this, or you could on hover like see the animation. That would really add— like here, you like— this is a little hover effect, but on the other elements that would add really a lot of Personality to it and interaction. Maybe maybe try to iterate a bit more some components so like Framer is not like wait a minute that's a copy of our website. Did you also work on the platform itself? Because the platform looks pretty nice. But it's custom built, not from— yeah, yeah. What's the— oh, that's cool. I like that transition. I'm not sure if I like it or if it's just interesting, like this, this section here, the card. That's really cool. I like that. And you're using kind of like the same, uh, strategy as the ones here. And then build with blocks. I'm not sure, like for me, I'm not sure what blocks represent really, but it's more maybe like a visual thing. I'm not sure exactly like what am I like looking at specifically. I don't know if it's because there's a ton of elements inside because it's literally a hero block. Or like a navigation block. So yeah, not sure. But otherwise it's cool. It's simple. It's nice. Here is probably the— okay, so it's the same hover effect everywhere. I'll probably change maybe the background on the visual. Like, do you see here? It's a lot easier for me to understand that these are like specific elements compared to like here where it's a big, like actual design. Here's a lot easier for me to understand. Oh, okay. This is what it is about. But yeah, the background is slightly different. So I mean, the background is literally the hover state background. So that's why I would maybe change. CTA is probably too high, too low, sorry, because you can see that I, oh, I can hover sometimes. I can hover at the very edge of it. So probably fix that. And I would probably put the CTA somewhere around here on the card so that you really feel like It's going into the darkness in a good way. And then you can click to find out more. Here it feels more like it's a section that's laggy. And then you have the CTA. I don't know if you get what I mean here. Yeah, probably I'll go again refine. Like you can see Tailwind is still colored, but the other ones are not. And probably the logo itself, maybe gray, like lower opacity than the actual name. Maybe so that it's not just like full white everywhere. And I do like the like little new tag. I think that's nice as well. And for this is nice, it's animated. It's not something you can click. I think I would rather have like a little hover state where you can see like the first screen slowly going down as I hover, and then it makes me want to click on it to Unveiled the one behind it rather than it animated its animating itself. I mean, it's more like is it a video? I think probably no. It's it's uh it's you who does that. It's all coded, right? Probably something like this again. It makes me like actually excited about using the product and giving a shot. I understand it's interactive. It is interactive. It's the end of the stream. I'm like tired of talking. Yeah, that's cool. I like it. A little hard to read all of those. I can literally like maybe three, four. But otherwise nice. FAQ. I like this. Like as I click on one, the other one stops. Oh, it's also that's a little frustrating. Like not being able to click on the FAQ. I get the other ones like the library and stuff, but, uh, yeah. Oh, that's cool. Compress using Astra. I would 100% put that at the top. Like I would probably put it here. Maybe good to A/B test on this. Like maybe built with or styled with could be above here. And here you would put those logos because they look really, really cool. Otherwise, like that's a nice, that's a nice, nice website, nice landing page. Is it good on this? Like you have all the feedback you need on on that. Is there anything else specific you what to take out, what to improve or add? That's nice. Yeah, that's I would say. Yeah, Björn. And then the footer, it's good. I think for me the hover state looking exactly like the headline of the footer headline is not the best, but otherwise it's good. Yep. Okay, cool. I hope it was worth the wait, but it's pretty much what we would— oh. For this, I would maybe not— the gradient, maybe not make it super dark at the top. I would either flip it or make it a bit brighter. I get also you need to make it readable, so it's a different thing. Maybe add like a little drop shadow glow effect, kind of make it really stand out. Used by 500— that could be also like a really cool, really cool like social proof to add on the hero section. The hero section is all about like either social proof Or you want people to experience what the product is before they create the account or before they sign up. Ideally, you have both inside. So social proof, a lot of it. So showing the— who was it? The developers using it, the brands using it. I think that's a really good addition to it. Was really worth the wait. Okay, cool. Okay, that's nice. I'm happy about it. Do you guys have any more questions before the end of the stream? I think we can go full cam again. Nice. That was a really cool stream. I didn't expect, uh, so many of you to, to fill out the form and ask for feedback, so I really, really appreciate it. Um, I think that could be a little— I don't know if we can do that every stream or not, but that was a really cool Really cool stream, pretty fun. Thank you as well, Mobile Steel, for submitting your work and being open to hearing me say my thoughts on this. I appreciate it. But yeah, cool. If nobody else has anything to say on top of that, thank you so much for the stream. Thank you for watching it, supporting the channel, being here. We're having a great time every week on Wednesday. So thank you so much, everyone. I'll have to work hard for the video on Friday. Make sure to tune in on Friday for the video. It's a new redesign, so I hope you will like it as well. And yeah, thank you so much, guys. Have a great one. Bye.
