The thing that changed the game for me as a job seeker was when I took posting on LinkedIn as seriously as I do now. Throughout my 20s, I was consistently undervalued and underpaid, and it wasn't until one day where I got headhunted and they were offering me a role that was paying me $50,000 more than the role I was on. In that moment, I was like, shit, what are people getting paid out there doing jobs that I'm doing? What's happening here? And how those people found me was what I put on my LinkedIn. I asked them that point blank. I was like, oh, like, what's made you reach out to me? And they said, oh, you mentioned on your job title that you on this specific area. And I remember updating my LinkedIn profile and going, this is an area that I want to be focusing on. I want people to see that I do this. And literally that one update got me a job that was paying me $50,000 more than what I was on and made me realize that I need to be much more aware of what's happening in the market. If you want these kind of opportunities to happen for you, the first thing you need to do is take posting on LinkedIn seriously. Second thing you need to do is position yourself effectively on LinkedIn so you are attracting those kind of roles. And the third thing you need to do is stop underselling and undervaluing yourself and know what your actual unique value is and how to present that online to make you stand out from everyone else. Take that and give me a follow if you want to feel more confident about selling yourself.
