This will show you why you’re the obvious choice for the job.

Chloe Spillane shows how to prove you're right for the job. Compare your CV directly to the job description, tick off the skills and responsibilities you have, and if you hit 60 percent, you can confidently tell them you're the obvious choice.

If you are someone that struggles to sell yourself in an interview, you just haven't demonstrated to yourself clearly enough how you are the obvious choice for this role. It's okay, we don't really get taught how to do these things, so I'm going to show you how to do that now. Before you go into any interview and before you start building out your CARL or STAR frameworks, you need to do a really objective view of the job description versus your CV. So what you're going to do is go on the job description or the job ad, whatever you've got. You'll look at the dot points of what we need from you or what you will bring or what experience you must have, whatever it is. Go through each of those dot points, and as you go through those dot points, tick off which ones you have from those list of experiences. Then what you're going to do is go to the what you will be doing section and then do the same process through that. The thing is though, if you tick off at least 60% of the experience you have in the job description, that means that you'll be able to deliver on on more than enough of what the role is asking of you. So once you've done that exercise, look at it objectively, give yourself a ranking, and then you can show yourself in that moment that you have exactly what they're looking for to be able to deliver on that job.
