Chloe Spillane says job seekers waste AI by giving it bare-bones prompts. Tell the AI your actual frustrations, your goals, and what you're working with. The more context you dump on it, the better it tailors solutions for your profile, recruiter strategy, and next steps.

Something I don't say enough for people that are trying to use AI in their job search, but it doesn't seem to be getting them anywhere, or they just don't understand how to use it effectively, is that you're not asking it the right questions. You need to be treating your AI tool more like your coach or your colleague, as opposed to being your assistant. Instead of doing a simple prompt like, help me write my LinkedIn profile, you wanna actually speak to it and say something along the lines of, hey Chloe, if you're using Chloe AI, I'm really struggling with my job search. I'm feeling really defeated and I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. My LinkedIn profile is looking like this. I know I need to update it. I don't know what I need to be doing. I wanna be attracting recruiters to my profile. I wanna be bringing opportunities to me. What should I be doing? So you're giving it much more context as to what you are currently dealing with, because the more context that you give it, the more proactive it can be in giving you a solution. If you simply give it a 5-word prompt, it's not gonna have much to work with, so it's not gonna give you a great result. The next time you're using your AI tool, complain to it. Tell them what your issues are, tell them what you're struggling with, and it will come up with the most proactive solution for you.
