A short YouTube conversation led by Dr. Aziz outlining two core actions to overcome social anxiety: (1) actively defy the internal voice of doubt by repeatedly putting yourself into feared social situations over weeks/months, and (2) change the way you treat and talk to yourself (self-talk) to avoid self-criticism that undermines progress. The clip emphasizes repeated exposure and kinder internal dialogue as complementary practices.
There are only two things that you.
Need to do to truly free yourself from social anxiety.
I taught a virtual event not too long ago.
It's called End social.
Anxiety now. And it was three days.
I'm going to slow down just the two things right now.
In 30 seconds. You ready? Okay. The first thing that you must do is you must defy.
The voice of doubt in your head. So the voice of doubt.
Makes negative predictions. They're not going to like me. It's not going to go well. I'm not capable of that. I can't speak in front of a group.
And on and on and on. So you must act in opposition to that. You must go try to speak in.
Front of the group.
You must go ask the person. You must go see what happens when you put yourself out there.
That's number one, repeatedly, not just once.
But over weeks, months, and you'll shift everything.
And number two.
Is you have to.
Change the way you treat yourself, the way you talk to yourself. Because if you could take a bold.
Action and defy the doubt, and then the whole time you're just beating yourself up. Oh, that was awkward. I'm a loser. Nobody likes me.
You're not going to break out.
Of social anxiety. You have to transform your relationship with yourself and once and for all, get on your own side.
