Dr. Aziz (speaker) describes three subtle behaviors that signal low confidence: (1) poor or shifty eye contact, (2) failing to initiate greetings or handshakes (passive stance), and (3) being guarded or tight-lipped (not revealing oneself). He explains how these behaviors make others perceive a person as less confident, less warm, and less approachable.

Here are three secret signals you might be giving off that show people that your confidence is low. We're going to start with the most obvious one, which is your eye contact. If you're shifty, you look around, you can't just let your gaze settle on someone else's eyes. And they're going to perceive that as usually low confidence, maybe even untrustworthiness. So that's the first one to build that capacity. And the second one is you don't initiate the handshake, the contact, the hello. You kind of wait until you're spoken to. It's more of a passive passenger style, which again can indicate date. I'm a little scared to put myself out there. And then number three, the most secret one of all is it's not unveiling yourself. So a secret sign of low confidence is actually to be guarded. So someone asks you something, you don't reveal much, you're a little tight lipped, you're a little short, and it might not be really intense, but it's just subtle. And the result is people don't find you warm, accessible, charming, approachable. They start to say, oh, that person. Yeah. And that's usually a sign of low confidence.
