This YouTube video (Dr. Aziz) challenges the common self-limiting belief that personal growth requires being ‘enough’ (smart, capable, determined) and that deficits (ADHD, trauma, health issues) make change impossible or interminably long. The speaker asserts that this story is false and aims to reframe how people see capability and change.

There is one line that I hear from pretty much every person I work with and they repeat it again and again and again. They've hypnotized themselves into believing it's true. And here's what it sounds like. Aziz I really want to blank approach people, start a conversation, have a better relationship, get into a relationship, make a change in my career, whatever you want to do. If you had more confidence. This is what I really want to do. Aziz But I'm not smart enough or I'm not capable enough or I'm not determined enough or I'm not focused enough. I got adhd, I got health problems, I got family of origin issues from growing up. For whatever the reason is, my trauma background, I can't and I'm not enough. And it's usually framed as something that is either impossible to solve or will take years and years and years and maybe decades and decades of working on it, which I've been doing for the last 10 years, but I haven't quite worked on it enough yet. Guess what? That story is not even real.
