Dr. Aziz explains how worrying about others' judgments pulls you away from yourself. The fix: turn attention inward, ask what you actually think and feel, act with integrity, and set boundaries by asking for what you want and saying no.

There's one pattern I've seen in the thousands of nice people that I've worked with over the years, and it's leaning outside of yourself. You know, you're going to take an action in the world. You're going to approach someone going to date you, do something at work, and it's like, what is he going to say? What does she think about this? I'm not saying you have no care at all about other people, but what about you? What do I think about this? What do I feel about this? I was just talking with a client the other day. He wanted to date someone. He's like, oh, but what if her friends think this about me? Like, wait a minute. What do you think about you? Do. Do you feel like you're in integrity? Do you feel like you're operating when it feels good to you? In my reality, it's okay to ask for what I want. It's my reality, it's okay to say no to things. And if you're solid in yourself and you come back to yourself, then you can handle any judgment from anyone. It makes you a much more powerful, confident version of you.
