Dr. Aziz explains the mindset phrase "committed but not attached" as a tool to build confidence, improve conversations and relationships, and achieve results without desperation. He contrasts attachment (neediness, impatience, avoidance, procrastination) with commitment (clear desire, consistent effort, acceptance of timeline, focus on controllable actions and responses).

These four words are the secret to building confidence and actually having great conversations, great connections, great results from your efforts. They are committed but not attached. And this is such an important distinction that will really change how people see you. Because attached is when it's like, I need this, I need this, I need this, or I'm not, okay, I need this result now. And that leads to impatience, it leads to avoidance, it leads to procrastination, at least to pushing or leaning or desperation. None of it works. But if we're like, okay, maybe it comes, maybe it doesn't, whatever, there's no energy in that. There's no power in that. There's no creative. How do you stick to something that's uncomfortable with that energy? And so that's where committed comes in. Committed is, I want that result. I see that result. I'm committed to that result. I'm going to do what it takes to get that result, and it's going to come on its own time. And I'm not in control of the timeline. I'm just going to control what's in my wheelhouse, which is how I show up, how I respond to the events, and we're going to get there, but it's not on my timeline.
